can i just say how much i agree with you over what the suits writers are trying to force on to harvey and donna's relationship. it actually makes me angry that they are reducing a strong, capable and independent woman into just another sassy redhead with a crush on her boss. it's so painful to watch and i want it to end right now.

not to mention how they've been together for years. not only is that going to be awkward for the people playing those characters. But are you honestly trying to tell me that if Harvey noticed a crush from a secretary and he not only keep her employed but chose to flaunt "harvey/jessica" among other "appointments" in her face AND bring her when he transferred companies. especially without making a move on her? And harvey WOULD notice. The idea of something like that slipping past him is ridiculous. 

In addition, part of the reason Donna was such a beloved character was because we saw her not only stand up to what appeared to be this unmovable force, but stand her ground and win. If they are going to reduce her to a blushing girl with a crush how do you expect me to believe the dynamic they have portrayed is possible 

And it's not even that really it's more that everything is so rushed. Like, you have one of the most popular shows on air and you feel the need to give every single character a romantic interest and force it to be acknowledged instead of subtly making it part of the character not the reason behind every action or comment they make.

Suits season 2 episode 9

Harvey tells Jessice near the end of the show that “you are playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers”. I am surprised that USA allowed this line into the show. It comes from a TV announcer years ago.  Larry Bird was having one of his special games and the TV announcer said “Larry is playing chess, while everyone else is playing checkers.  The quote was later used by Kobe Bryant and attributed to him but its more likely he stole it from the TV announcer or an adviser.  Why would USA allow a plagerized line of dialogue into a hit show? 

a lot of suits dialogue is based on references. Mostly to TV or movies (or old phrases) but i could see this happening too. I don’t know if it was on purpose or not, as that could easily be a line made up on the spot as most people are aware of both board games. But if it was intentional it was more likely used in terms of a compliment to the original user (which could very well have predated Bird) than  the writer intentionally watching for lines and plot points he could claim as his own. if you try sending a tweet to aaron korsh  he would probably know

characters in suits often quote other outside sources -- the most obvious being all the movie quotes. i don't understand why quoting a sports announcer is any different.

That's my particular take as well. I think what they were trying to imply was that when a movie is quoted (although subtly) it is generally cited. This could be in the form of another character mentioning it like how Jessica and Harvey often call each other on their quotes. Or how Donna and Louis test each other's knowledge on various plays. So that the audience is always aware they are making a reference. with radio/television/music you have to tiptoe extremely carefully around all the privacy laws and stuff. And while some things are free to the public like the happy birthday song other things "belong" to someone. It would be unlikely for any consequences to come from quoting someone who i doubt took any effort to "claim" one phrase as their own, although they did mention it was credited to someone else. so you never know.
