charlie was born and raised in the greater king’s port area . she was raised from the age of three by her father after her mother died in a car accident . Frank was a good father and tried his hardest to bring charlie up to be a well-rounded , confident woman .

was a very smart child , graduated top of five of her highschool class and was accepted to study at emory university in atlanta georgia where she earned two degrees in 5 years: a bachelor’s of science in psychology and a bachelors of science in philosophy , politics & law . it was her plans to stay in atlanta and work her way to detective in the atlanta pd , but due to her father having an accident at work that sent him into an early retirement . she moved back to king’s port to take care of him and fall into his shadow as a police officer with the king’s port police department .

she worked within the police department for 6 years before being promoted to homicide detective , it was almost the exact route as her father and she was excited to make him proud .

a year later and she’s still catching flack for being the newbie detective , and is given shit about being frank’s kid, as well as being an out and proud lesbian . but all of this doesn’t stop her – with her drive and pure stubbornness charlie is dead set on filling her dad’s shoes .
