006 / Supersoldier SIX somparison - it's Astrid, but at different points in time. The first one is her for most of her life, the second is once she turns 18 and becomes a supersoldier.

I'm so sorry for not posting for ages!! I've been really busy with stuff and projects haha.⁣ ⁣ Here is something I've been working on for quite a while, and I'm so happy to finally show to you all my new OC Astrid I really love her, and I hope you'll love her too!⁣ ⁣ As for her story, I'll talk about it in more details later, but she is a Meta-Human, basically a person with powers. Her powers are telekinesis and mind manipulation with a twist, but lives in a world where Metas are feared. Because of her powers, she was locked inside a lab for humans to study her powers and keep her away of society because she is 'dangerous'. There's so much I want to talk about in this post but it'll be too long for one single caption so I'll stop it there haha.⁣ ⁣ Also, I recently made a twitch and livestreamed the making of this over there! Go follow me at twitch.tv/scriptyshake to see me work on art live, and occasionally play games ;D⁣ ⁣ ≫Tools used:⁣ ❁Clip Studio Paint EX (the whole piece)⁣ ❁Cintiq Pro 13⁣ ❁Determination ❤⁣

A bunch of random requests I’ve drawn for my Patrons, along with a commission for @erroneousartist. I figured I should share more of my scribbles, so I’ve thrown some in there. It’s not all of them in any way, but they make a nice compilation. Hope you like them!
(Do no repost or claim any of these as your own!!)

Oh wow thanks a lot for the advice! It actually helps a lot, I'll keep those tips in mind when making my next comic pages! Hopefully I should improve, ahah :'D
Hello again! I don't know if you've already been asked this, but do you have any tips on paneling for comics, and how to communicate the story better? Your comics like "Somewhere Else" and "The Confession" have inspired me so so much to make my own comics, and I always look at your comics to see how you do it because they're so well made! QwQ
Aaaaaa thank you!! ♥
I’m constantly trying new things to be honest - I don’t really have an established way of paneling my comics. I can try to write some vague stuff down though xD
Let’s see…
- Place the panels and the speech bubbles in a way that it will “guide” the viewer through the page. Keep in mind people will always start reading in the top left and end on the bottom right (top right and bottom left for manga pages, though I’ve learnt it’s better to stick to the ‘western’ reading direction for me because I’m… well, used to it - and so are my readers)
- Use different angles/shots of a character and different sizes for the panels, otherwise the page will look boring. Overlapping panels are a thing, and different shapes can help, too!
- Keep your text in check! It’s a comic after all. Usually one or two sentences per speech bubble are more than okay. If you try to cram a monologue that could fill a whole page into one panel you’re doing something wrong
- Communicating the story better is… tricky… sometimes I spend a whole day on two pages just to get the paneling right, and even then there’s no guarantee that I’ll be happy with it or that I won’t just screw things over the very next day. The best thing I can tell you here is to just never stop trying to improve! ovo
- To sum it up… There is this key phrase which not only applies to movies and animation, but for comics, too. Maybe you’ve heard it before, it’s “Show, don’t tell”. I think that’s essential. A comic panel in my opinion should not only serve the purpose of carrying the dialogue, but communicate the story on its own. The dialogue is not the focal point, it merely supports the story.
I hope this makes sense to some degree. I’ve never seen an art school from the inside, so I’m probably not great at explaining this, but I hope this helps a little bit anyway. c:

Top 10 quotes without context.
I'm sorry I've finished the milk before it expired.. Tell Fatal I'm sorry
Sometimes people enter and exit our lives for a reason. Just as a car that veers away on its own path after unintentially following alongside yours upon a stretch of highway; just as two motes float through a soft sunbeam and then blink out of site; just as the last sip of milk is consumed forever more. It is the nature of things to end. A conclusion is a glorious moment to arrive at, and we find -more often than not- we are enhanced by its arrival. For better or for worse, we may not be able to tell right away, but our hearts are changed. Fortified, with resolve. And calcium. And as time trickles on we remember. We always remember. We will never forget. And years from now, centuries, lifetimes, this...isolated moment of love will remain as a thing that happened. That once was, and the obliteration of the universe and time and all that we perceive cannot erase the simple truth that this love existed and was real and meant something and was true. That moment spent in the light. That sliver of divinity that filled our hearts. That love that in an instant transcended all of existence all at once.
Goodbye, milk. You will not be missed. Because we cannot miss something that is a part of you.
