Seasoning Blends
Tumblr media
A lot of spells call for singular herbs like basil or cinnamon, but seasoning blends often get overlooked! Especially because these blends tend to be easier and more affordable in the kitchen. Let’s break a few down.
Pumpkin Spice- (Allspice, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg.) MONEY MONEY MONEY and also luck.
Five Spice Powder-  (Cinnamon, cloves, fennel, star anise, pepper.) Protection, banishing/exorcism, probably especially so for things related to psychic powers and abilities.
Italian Seasoning- (Thyme, oregano, garlic, basil, marjoram, rosemary, savory, sage) Cleansing, purifying, and consecrating spaces, protection. Combined, this probably makes it great for warding.
Creole Seasoning- (Paprika, garlic, onion, pepper, cayenne, thyme, oregano.) Hella banishing power, with a kick. May also help start patching up any spiritual wounds, afterwards. But mostly banishing.
Tajin- (Chili peppers, salt, lime) Cleansing! Burn out/erode all that gunk.
Old Bay- (Mustard, paprika, celery salt, bay leaf, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, mace, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger.) Can be used as a general enhancer to the power, strength, or success of a spell. Banishing.

I think so many problems online can be solved by either going "damn, not my problem" or simply sending a screenshot to a group chat

I was given this neat gift a while back, made by a metallurgist experimenting with different alloy recipes. He claimed that it was a unique amalgam of copper, silver, tin, and gold that he experimented with, but which ultimately didn't fit what he was hoping for. There's also an old glass bead set into it, though he didn't specify why.

You gotta remember that being into magic is objectively corny. It's theater kid meets history buff. Objectively a corny thing to be.

I'm curious about how common my own experiences are and I understand that a Tumblr poll is still incredibly biased, but we all love to press buttons so I figured I would make one anyhow.

Apparently in China peach wood (Along with the rest of the plant) is believed to have properties that repel evil spirits, a little similar to silver in European legends or iron for both European fae and West Asian/Middle eastern Jinn. Taoists sometimes keep swords made of peach wood because of this. This made me realize something. If you took a peach wood stick, and attached studs to it of both silver and iron you'd end up with a club or staff (or mace, flail etc.) that would have the weaknesses of many kinds of supernatural creatures while still retaining effectiveness as a normal weapon (peach is a hardwood and silver's poor edge retention doesn't matter for studs). You could even keep adding new stud materials to get something ridiculous that affects over 120 catalogued folkloric monsters. Since you just need a few little studs you could even get some really expensive materials like meteoric iron (a thumb tip sized meteorite can still cost like 10-20 bucks I think). I could somewhat feasibly make a weapon that affects every monster ever thought to walk the earth, from vampires and werewolves to jinn and jiangshi and even mankind.

Just sayin, that recording is the reason I can travel. Was trying off and on for literal years and getting nowhere. Then I listened to Stag walk me through it and BAM, traveling like a champ.
Hello! I have been a long time without practicing witchcraft, so I am a bit rusty. I’ve been wanting to do some Otherworld journeying, and I was wondering if you’d feel comfortable sharing how you usually go about doing that? Do you enter a trance, and if so how do you go about doing it? Are you with spirits the whole time, or are you ever alone? If I’m prying too much, please feel free to tell me to get lost!
I do go into a trance as part of my traveling process, but I'll be honest, I don't know if my method will work for anyone else. I use the pain of my CRPS as a focus, like some people use drums or mantras. I spend most of my time trying to block out my pain, but when I'm trancing I let it wash over me until it's all that I'm aware of. I dive down deep into it until I come out the other side of the maelstrom in the Otherworlds. I understand that this method is not for everyone, but outside of getting into the trance I have some more tips and methods at the links below:

Traveling Tips
Spirit Meeting Recording - The first part of this guided meditation is basically an audio version of the first link.
Once I'm in the Otherworlds I actually do spend a lot of time alone. I have certain responsibilities and duties in the Otherworlds. Those sometimes means walking the boundaries of the regions or domains I am responsible for by myself, or wandering around those domains checking in on Things or Folks. Usually once I'm done with these "chores" I'll have a political or social visit to make, and that's when I'll spend more time around spirits. Or if I don't have visits to make I'll spend time with Oisin or one of the other Forgotten Ones.
