quitting can be a good thing
we are taught not to be quitters. sometimes quitting is necessary for survival. whether that is quitting a relationship with a person, quitting something that puts your mental health in a vulnerable position, or quitting a sport. quitting doesn’t have to be viewed as failure. it should be viewed as moving on. starting something new. a new chapter. it doesn’t mean it’s the end forever. maybe a long break or pause. quitting is not failure. quitting is beginning. IT IS OKAY TO QUIT.

In 2016, Frank Ocean released a magazine titled Boys Dont Cry. He worked on it over the course of a couple years during many international trips. He garnered inspiration from his surroundings and connections at the time. Frank brought his vision to life with colloborative efforts by Ren Hang, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, the Creator, Micheal Uzowuru, and Daniel David Freeman. Frank was simultanously working on his two albums Endless and Blonde amidst major record label drama (Universal and Def Jam). The magazine was a creative outlet and stress reliever for him, and he said, “It made me feel like my life was very much being fully experienced.”
The design for Boys Don’t Cry is inspired by Franks fondness of queer history and art. Collages were very prominent in the magazine, in ode to Walter Pfeiffer’s work. Frank’s afinity for cars and poety is put on display. Boys Don’t Cry was released in pop up shops 2016 and rereleased in 2019. Today, this magazine can be purchased on Grailed ranging from $350 to $1,500.
There has been speculation of an upcoming album due to the Blonde vinyl being rerealesed and Frank deleting his Instagram posts. Fingers crossed there is a rerelease of the magazine and Keem got one of those.

i want to get back into taking photos. i love getting film back and seeing how they turn out. i feel like film captures emotions and colors so much better than digital. most of my favorite photos i have taken have been on film. i wish i would’ve used disposables on more trips cuz the ones i did are so much more memorable. from now on i’m gonna take a roll of film for each trip and then write about it on here. these are my favorites
