I really hope Kaneki doesn't forgive Juuzou immediately.

Haise’s relationship with Juuzou is something I really appreciate. For this reason, if he manages to get digged out, I hope the two interact and Kaneki makes it clear to Juuzou that he can’t forgive him.

What happened during their fight is not entirely Juuzou’s fault. He has a very strong bond with Shinohara, he loves him more than anyone and anything in this world. When someone close to you (eg. your mother) falls into a coma you will do everything possible for them to wake up. You will lie to yourself that there is still time to save them. That’s exactly what Juuzou does. We have seen many times in the manga that Juuzou is smarter than he looks, he’s not an idiot. He probably knows that it will be very hard for Shinohara to come back. However, he chooses to ignore common sense and instead creates a reality were there is still a chance for Shinohara to wake up. In addition to this we saw how things ended up when Urie went against Furuta’s orders so Juuzou didn’t really have a choice with this.

However, seeing how ghouls and humans cooperated so easily means that Kaneki technically could also forget how Juuzou literally cut him to pieces.

Fistly, personally I feel like Juuzou is extremely similar to Kaneki. Both tend to run away from their problems and lie to themselves that they are ok when in reality they are not. We see that in the first manga, were Kaneki took the role of a hero and shouldered everyone’s pain and problems. Similarly Juuzou in Tokyo ghoul re takes on order after order, doesn’t question his superiors and doesn’t mention to his squad how he is struggling. Both of them needed someone else to call them out, Touka for Kaneki and Hanbee for Juuzou. But once again both ignore their friends and keep doing what they do best, shoulder everything without taking into consideration anyone’s feelings.

Another similarity the two share is that Juuzou and Kaneki have no sense of self. They both feel alienated from the world and their surroundings due to childhood traumas as well as other problems they have faced in their lifes. Their character has been weakened and they are empty. For this reason they rely on others to create a persona for them that they can adjust to. Kaneki becomes a ghoul, a centipede, a king because he has been forced to become such. Juuzou becomes Rei, a mature ghoul investigator and the second Arima for the same reason as Kaneki. They always have nicknames defining them. They let others pick personalities for them because they lack indipendence and authority. Hence they have no free will and don’t hold any opinion for any matter. They are passive to everything and that leads to a disaster.

That is why if Kaneki forgives Juuzou immediately just because he helped digging him out (once again, if the digging out mission works) it will mean both will have learned nothing from their own mistakes and are once again ignoring what happened during their fight. Why? Because it’s a real pain for them to face reality. For once, Kaneki needs to get angry at someone who hurt him for and Juuzou needs to face the consequences of his actions and finally open his mouth apologise and say what he thinks without taking into consideration Shinohara. They need to grow up.

The two have so much potential, from the first time they met I knew they would share a special connection. For this to happen though they need to have a serious talk, address the problem and change for the better.
