Climber’s Retreat Ch3

Amber has really done it this time. And yes, she’s stoned.

I don’t know what the big deal is! All I did was remodel my room. That was what we were supposed to be doing out here, right?!  So I used what was in our joint account, I left, like, 20 simoleons for food or whatever.

Besides, like, look how cute my room is now! It’s so me. I also made a little yoga retreat out on the porch. Appleseed Cabin is a little more homey. At last for me.

Okay, so I didn’t just spend the money on my room. But it’s not my fault! Toni has been super stressful lately and it was really bringing me down. I went to the Apollo Day Spa & Gym and I got a few massages, had a few drinks, lit some incense, and took a couple of yoga classes. I finished the trip up with a nice mud bath. What with Toni nagging me about getting a job, I was so, like, stressed and I needed to treat myself. The steam room was amazing and all the fresh air in the open yoga room was refreshing. I didn’t get to try the gym out, but it looked dope as I walked by. On my way home, the best thing ever happened! A doggy followed me. He was this big floofy beastie. He smelled awful so I gave him a bath in Toni’s tub. Now she’s mad at me for the ring of dirt inside the tub and the puddles of water in the floor. It’s not fair. She has the only tub. I didn’t know Mr. Flooful was THAT dirty. She told me not to bring anymore dogs in the house. :( 

So Mr. Flooful is hiding in my room until she can be nice.

Toni published her book and has already started another one. Freshie seems to inspire her. I think he’s been going fishing more because he knows I’ve secreted away Mr. Flooful and he doesn’t want to know. What’s that called again? Like, possible... pausable... PLAUSIBLE! Plausible deniability. 

Oooh! KARAOKE!!! I’ve never sang before. My turn! My turn! Somebody get me some nachos! Here, I think I have 20 simoleons left...

Climber’s Retreat Ch2

Freshie Main Don’t get me wrong. I love my girls. Our life hasn’t been easy. We face a lot of judgment wherever we go; mostly because not everyone approves of our relationship. What they don’t understand is that we wouldn’t be anything without each other.  Toni is a headstrong woman and I support her in every way. We met at a sports bar a few years ago, where we were rooting for opposite teams. She bought me a cold one and I bought her some wings. I remember and cherish every time she called out for her team, “Whoop, whoop!” Her favorite song came on, I could tell by the look on her face and the way she smiled. So I asked her to dance. We have been together in one way or another ever since. At first as friends, then friends with benefits, and then for a few happy moments we were an exclusive couple on our way toward marital bliss, I’m sure. But then we lost the baby. It felt like part of our life was ripped away before we got the chance to even know it was there. We no longer worked as a duo. It was hard to communicate. Each touch, each conversation was like ripping off duct tape. It left the skin underneath raw and red. Sometimes her words would bleed me, but I knew she didn’t mean it. That it was her own hurt trying to use me to heal itself and a part of me was okay with that. The other part felt like dying because Toni was falling out of reach. Then Amber happened. One day, Toni brought her home. She’d lost her job and was thrown out on the street in front of Toni by her bully of a manager. Much like a lost puppy, Amber became ours. We were able to put aside our pain to care for her and it helped us start taking care for each other again. She slept with us, ate with us, and slowly became a part of us. I don’t know when or how exactly our trio happened, only that it did. And Toni became her old cheerful self.

Life with Amber isn’t all peachy. She’s a bit of a... space cadet. While Toni works in business and occasionally publishes books and I work outdoors gardening, fixing things, selling fish I catch, and occasionally investments, Amber doesn’t seem to have a particular skill set for any one thing at all. Like AT ALL. She can’t hold a job, even if it came with handles superglued to her hands, but we still love her. That’s one negative thing. She has some redeeming qualities like she’s really good with dogs and she loves to be outside. Her kindness in unlimited and she’s hilarious, though mostly because of how spacey she is. She’s my stoner girl. I think I’ll get her a dog and see if it inspires her to figure out what more she wants from life. Toni is publishing another book soon. I know she’s stressed out about it and the changes we want to make around the house, plus there’s stress from work. She just got a promotion but her supervisor left. She doesn’t have much training for the position, but she has more than anyone else in the company. Her boss has already discussed promoting her by the end of the month. She and, her pal, Celia did an amazing job picking this place out for us. It is kind of intimidating. We’ve already started some of the redecorating. The furniture that was here when we moved in came with the house. We are slowly replacing it. Beyond that, we can’t seem to agree on where to start the renovation. Toni wants an office. Amber wants her bedroom to be more... her. I only want everyone happy. 

Man, it’s lunch time. Gotta go throw down some burgers. I’m sure we’ll figure this out together.

I tried to stick to a French Country inspired theme for this home with little modern touches. The entryway has a “built-in” shelving unit made with the move objects cheat. To the left of the entry, is the more formal dining area. There are french doors leading off the dining room into the modest courtyard and a small door leading to a powder room for your guests. This home’s layout is semi-open, columns define the dining area, from there you can see into the sunken living area which is more defined with a half wall, and the kitchen is its own area with windows leading between kitchen and the living space (seen to the left of the fireplace). A fireplace provides the main focal point in the living room, where you will find ample seating. The kitchen is small and galley-style with updated appliances and a small 4-seat breakfast nook, perfect for casual dining. A door leads out onto a small covered back porch with a small bench and some pretty window box flowers. Another door on the opposite side leads into the spacious master bedroom. Inside the master bath is a glorious corner tub, shower, and ample counter space. Back inside the bedroom, another door leads out into the hall near the entryway. There’s a connected faux garage perfect to add in your hobby space and it is connected through the flexible use room, currently set up as an office. The office is across from the bar just outside the kitchen. Across from the bar are the stairs leading to the unfinished basement, which ban be made to accommodate your Sim family to your liking.

Climber’s Retreat 1

After driving all night, Freshie and Amber arrive in Brindleton Bay at their new home. Toni, their girlfriend, comes down off the porch to greet them and tell them about the place she invested all their money in. Amber looks stoned, she probably is, and Freshie looks skeptical.

Toni:  “This is the place! Celia said it would be perfect for us and I think she could be right. That we could do what we wanted and make it ours.” Amber:  “Duuuuuuude, it’s huge! But so…. woody? You guys, I’m so tired, where’s my bed?” Freshie:  “You should have had that energy bar instead of that whole box of cereal. But no, now we have no cereal. Hey, Toni-baby, how’s the inside? Are you sure we can handle this? As Amber pointed out, it looks… *glances at Amber and squints* …big, for just us.” Toni:  “Trust me, honey. We agreed that between the three of us that I would handle this because I was the neutral. I didn’t have any wants other than for you both to be happy. You wanted a cabin in the woods where we could do our climbs and hikes. Maybe fish and  have room for some animals. Amber wanted not an apartment, her own bedroom, and something with a view. Have you seen that waterfall?! I’m tempted to take my morning tea right here on this porch. It was in our budget, I just got a new book deal, plus I still have my job and my promotion. If Amber would pick up some of the slack, we could start the remodel as early as next week.” Amber pouts: “Guys, I can’t work for people. It gives me icky vibes.” Toni:  “Amber… There is so much work to be done. I can’t do it by myself This is what we agreed to.” Freshie: We all have to do our part, Amber, if we’re going to make this work. Not just buying this place and turning into our own little stairway to heaven but us, our relationship. I love you both. And I think what Toni’s trying to say is that we need you.” Freshie takes both girls into his arms. All three hold each other as they think of tomorrow and the plans ahead. Can they really turn this old place into their dream home or did Toni break off too big a piece of the pie? Most importantly, what are they going to EAT in the mornings if Amber keeps eating all the cereal?!?

I’ve built a cabin using base game only. It has a half-wraparound porch, a large hearth area, and the decor is dated at best. I’m going to remodel it and post both versions to the gallery.
