Hey, Albert Phan here. I'm an Electrical Engineering Student at BCIT and I want to show you some projects I have been working on, some of which are 3D printed. My current 3D printer is called the KosselXL and it is a delta style printer.
Don't wanna be here? Send us removal request.

Any chance you could upload your 1911 holster model so I could print one for myself?

Can i get a copy of the plans for your 1911 holster?
I haven’t looked at my messages in a while so here are the files.
STLs and autodesk inventor 2013 source files are included.
Holster and loops use #6 hardware, although I don’t remember the lengths.
Do what you want with them, I haven’t touched the files in a long time.

BronyCAN 2014
I had a pretty good time at BronyCAN this year. There were a few good panels, mostly with the DHX staff which were quite funny. I however, spent most of my time in the vendor hall selling 3D printed models. They sold about as well as last year, if not better. My 3D printer I had set up was a real eye catcher. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of my table but here were some of the models I made.
Tumblr media
Prices at the con:
$50 Hand Painted Chrome Pony 10 cm tall $50 Hand Painted Scootaloo 12 cm tall $50 Hand Painted Sweetiebelle 12 cm tall $60 Stone Spray Painted Statue Discord 1 foot tall $70 Hand Painted Twilight 13 cm tall $40 Pencil Holding Discord 7 in / 18 cm tall
I also had a 2 feet Stone Spray Painted Discord which sold for $180 at the charity auction!
I don't model the models myself, I only print them. A friend of mine does the modeling, he can be found at http://uncommented.deviantart.com/
3D models download here.
Now if you are interested in getting 3D models commissions then let me know. If there is enough demand and I'm not too busy with school then I could probably make some.

First test of some upgrades I have been modeling for the Printrbot LC, based on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:55845 Thanks to Adam for the inventor source files.
It managed to work out enough on the first try to be able to print something. The quality is roughly about the same but this is still just the first pass.
Last pic comparison Left=Previous Right=With Upgrades
Lots to fix still.

3rd Person Camera Rig
I started working on a 3rd person camera rig to film some airsofting. Here's what I came up with after looking online for a few designs. My design is based off of Indy Mogul's Over the Shoulder Camera rig which can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOdu1Zl1lic

It's just a few pieces of pvc tubing, very simple stuff. The long verticals I put in the oven for a few minutes and bent them to contour my back so it was more comfortable. It is very easy to do. Just don't leave the pipe in there too long. Then I added some straps here and there to keep it tight against my body.
Here's the test footage.

I had an old helicopter helmet laying around that I found and thought it would look really cool with some digital camo. It took a lot of work to do because you gotta tediously cut up the painter tape into digital shapes. You do a layer of colour, apply tape, and repeat the process. At the end, peel off all the tape and you should be left with nice digital shapes.
The last step is to take a toothbrush, spray some paint into it and flick the bristles on the helmet. It helps break up the shapes which should help blend into the woodland. I plan on using the helmet for airsoft.

Working on a coil gun in the meantime while my 3d printer is down. This is the charging circuit to charge the capacitor bank. That bomb looking thing is a few large capacitors I found at work, it's actually not that good of a bank and I was just using it for fun.

Hi, we talked a few months back about your mag clips for the m4 series mags, what happened?
Yeah, I've been busy or so with work and I started working on them again about a month ago. I did a few revisions and basically got down a prototype to show off the next time I play airsoft. Unfortunately, a few a days ago my printer died and I am trying to fix it. I really hope I don't have that long of a down time so I can get right back into it.

Prototyping the M4 Magazine clips now. I am happy with the last prototype I have done. It holds the magazine nice and tight and it won't be coming out unless you yank it out. If you are interested in trying out a prototype and giving me feedback let me know. I am in the process of figuring out how to get this out.

Hi there! I saw your magazine retention system, and it's great. Will you be selling them? I'd be interested in a system that'll hold M4 magazines. Lastly, will you do different colors?
Yes, I definitely plan on selling these in the near future. First I want to refine everything and then see how much attention they get before I do. I will work on an system for the M4 mags next so stay tuned! As for colours, I only print in black (as a final colour) but I can spray paint in tan or olive drab if desired.

Here are some magazine clips I have been working on. They hold your magazine securely but can be taken out easily and quickly for those fast reloads. I made it modular so you can mount it via pistol belt or molle.

Problem: glasses took up too much space in the rack.
Solution: Design and print out a dishrack glass holder.
