A Road to Somewhere by Magowl on Mixcloud
Here's a selection of songs I was going to play at a gallery opening a little bit back, but my laptop broke (I got some gym time in carrying around a ton of vinyl instead) so I threw this together afterwards. As usual I'm not really a DJ so it's not beat-matched or anything; just good songs.
It seems the mixcloud widget refuses to show up, no idea why. But if you click the link above it'll take you to the mixcloud page and you can check the mix out there.

Booker Ervin - Lament For Booker Ervin
Label: Enja Cat#: ENJA-2054 Jazz, USA, 1975 RYM
Note: The video below was the only song I found on the tube and is a tribute to Mr. Ervin by Horace Parlan (which is the 2nd track on the b-side of this LP). Here's a copy/paste comment from RYM...
The story behind the one song on this album by Booker Ervin is really funny.  Booker Ervin, best known for his smokin' pyrotechnic tenor sax playing with Charles Mingus, was booked along with a bunch of other saxophonists to play at a concert in Europe.  There was so many bookings that Booker was only supposed to play 15 minutes.  Well, Booker wasn't going to go along with that!  Instead he played one deadly song and soloed like mad for 27 and a half minutes.  The crowd was in awe.  If ever there was an underrated jazz saxophonist, it's Booker Ervin.  The other track on this recording is a touching solo piano tribute to Booker by Horace Parlan, who was part of the lineup on October 29th, 1965.

Street - Street Label: Verve Forecast Cat#: FTS-3057 (Psych-) Pop/Rock, USA, 1969 RYM
Note: They have a Jefferson Airplane thing going at times (one of the songs below for instance). Not a bad album by any means, although it's a bit inconsistent.

Mixtapes
I added another static page (they're located up on the right on the main page) for my Mixtapes. I made six of them for a now defunct page called Connaisseur '70 and so far I've made one under my own name (the Italo+ one for Italo Week). I'll make more as I like doing them, but it won't be a weekly thing or anything like that, I'll just make one when I get that feeling.
Also, they're all available for download, but I don't have time to post up the links right now. I'll get on it either later on today or early tomorrow.
Edit:
Ok, the dl links are up as well.

Italo+ by Magowl on Mixcloud
Had a listen to the whole thing today and it seems it dropped a couple of tunes towards the end, no idea why. I can't replace the audio on mixcloud, but I've replaced the download (link below).
Almost 2 hours of Italo Disco, although there are a couple of tunes I wouldn't necessarily classify as Italo on here as well. This is the mix I promised after I ran Italo Week, so after a slight delay here it is. The tunes are a selection of the vinyls I’ve found in the 80s DJ collection I bough a while back (there are probably more as I still haven’t gone through all of them). I make no claims of being a “real” DJ or anything, I just have lots of music, but I do try my best not to fup the mixes :). So you know, if there are a couple of rough transitions, that’s why. Also, I had to code this down quite a bit to fit the size requirement on mixcloud, but you can grab a better copy here.

Hey MagOwl, how do you get the whole picture of the album covers to show up on the front page of your theme? When I do it it just shows a little section of the picture. Thanks!
Whatup man, I added a little css to the themes photo block in customize under Theme - Use Custom Html. If you find where it says {block:Photo} and two rows below you have {block:IndexPage} which originally says..
I changed that to..
Which did the trick for me, at least I don't remember doing anything else to it :)
Hope that helps.
