Just wanted to say All the best to my friends out there who are waiting eagerly to watch the finale and live blog B99 for the very last time, gush over the cast soon after with Seth Meyers and then deal with it - finish off tissue boxes or repress the hell out of it.

Wanted to thank each and everyone of you here who's made me feel welcome and a part of the fandom, even though I've been her for not more than two months. It was an absolute roller coaster ride being a part of this fandom, reading fics, fangirling over the cast and knowing bizzare facts about the show that we shouldn't be knowing. It was an absolute pleasure to be joining you guys on Zoom!

It is rightly said that the B99 fandom is not just a fandom, but a family and I want to thank everyone who made me feel just as homely and comfortable.

Yeah, I understand, I also looked at things in a somewhat better perspective every single time I rewatch B99. Although I will never understand Gina's stance with Amy, I think in the course of the journey she softens up to her, especially in the Four Movements episode. At first I was like aah no, that's a one time thing, next time I am like no Gina let her guard down for a couple of seconds that's why I am seeing this. I believe it is because as the number of times we watch it, we make more observations, and learn more about the characters, and then of course look at things differently.

I also have an unhealthy Peraltiago centric brain, so I don't remember small small details from other relations, but probably in the last rewatch I officially accepted that Terry was the most underrated person on the squad as a character, and with the drama of other storylines, we often forget to appreciate his presence and stability on the squad. So did I find that Joe Lo Truglio is probably the most underrated as an actor and there are a bunch of really good expressions that we miss, like he pulled a taunting face when Hitchcock said his mistress was a hairdresser in The Favour.

Also agree on your Scully point. I think I saw Scully as a more lovable character solely because of the fact that Joel is an amazing and humble person irl, very warm and homely through his Instagram.

I don't think I make a lot of parallel connections immediately, like you said with Beef Baby and Rosa or with The Wednesday Incident and Chasing Amy, but the more I watch, the more I think about what might have happened some time before this which obviously isn't a part of the episode.

I think the most of how Rosa has grown closer to the squad, especially Amy that both of them have done a lot for each other, considering they are in a 'workplace full of dudes', and eveb though Rosa is a tough woman, she has a soft side and I don't believe that it doesn't come out to the others while she's drunk or something really serious happened.

Also, I'm really glad that you're rewatching B99 right now, I am looking forward to a rewatch after s8 for I can't make time right now and it's the worst feeling in the world. So yeah, enjoy xD

Since you're re-watching B99, is there any scene or moment from the show that you now think you had heavily underappreciated previously? Like something that caught your eye only now and you think how-did-I-miss-it-its-so-dope ?

I can’t really think of a special scene at the top of my head, but I’m definitely seeing some things through a new light, yeah! Like I’m falling in love again with some friendships (I have a very Peraltiago-centric brain so I’ll admit I never remember much about the rest of the squad’s scenes lol). Like despite everything Chelsea and Melissa always said about their characters, I always had a problem with Gina and Amy’s friendship but while doing this rewatch, I’m finding Gina a lot sweeter towards Amy than I remembered her to be (or at least less mean)? Or even Scully, but I think I’m biased because Joel has shown himself to apparently be a very sweet person haha (although in the season 4 Christmas episode Scully IS the sweetest). I do remember that I realized Jake retracing Holt’s steps in The Wednesday Incident is basically the same as when he does so with Amy in Finding Amy, a connection I never made before lol (speaking of Finding Amy, I always loved it obviously but I think this time I realized that it might be one of the best Jake/Amy episodes, even better than I remembered it?)

Also I’m glad to see my understanding of English must always be improving because I understood some new jokes/plays on words/references than I had in the past! And there are a few scenes where I can’t stop thinking about the details some people on Tumblr thought about which I didn’t get the first time I watched the episodes — like with 5x01, I clearly remember someone writing a whole post after it aired about how Holt told Rosa it was important not to lose her identity (or whichever way he said it, that was much better in his words) while in his plot, Jake kept being called Beef Baby (and tried so hard to tell Romero his name was Jake) until the end when he called himself Beef Baby and what it implies... Or on a lighter note, someone else pointing out that Amy was able to find Jake among a crowd of people wearing the same handmaids outfits… That’s the kinda things that make me rewatch some of the eps with a new light, having these people’s (very clever) thoughts in mind.

Amy’s trying hard not to growl when Jake reaches up for the baking tin on the top of the shelf she’s been struggling to reach on her tiptoes for minutes. She fails when he hands it to her with a grin, though, and a “here you go tiny Tim”.

“I’m not that much shorter than you.”

“You’re basically a munchkin.”

“I’m- two inches, tops. That’s the only difference. It’s not important.”

“I’m gonna put everything on the top shelves. See how unimportant those two inches are then.”

“You wouldn’t dare-”

“Size doesn’t matter, Ames.” He grins as she punches his side. “Maybe we can get you a little step stool to carry around the apartment.”

“Maybe we can throw you out and put everything back at a proper height again the way it was before you moved in.”

“Nah. How would you do that? You can’t reach shit to put it all back.”

“Shuddup.”

“It’s only two inches, tops. I woulda hit it if I’d been on my step stool, surely.”

“Ah saidt shuddup.” Jake glowers at her while pressing a blood-stained handkerchief to his nose, sitting on the grimy floor of some non-descript warehouse.

He wasn’t really insured - Amy had checked his pupils and whatnot to make sure it wasn’t a concussion or anything - so she was very much free to mock him for running face-first into the little wall-gap their perp had jumped through, that she’d walked through without a problem.

“That said, I don’t think I’ve ever let a perp get away because of my size.”

“You’w evil.” He grumbles, sounding adorably like when he has a bad cold through his stuffed nose, and looking very much like an angry toddler while sitting at her feet. “Youw boyfwiend is bleedting an’ you mogck him.”

“Gotta keep you humble. Wouldn’t want you to grow too much of a big head.”

She jumps aside when he tosses the bloody handkerchief at her.

“There’s one plus about your munchkin-ness.” He smiles as they sway to some soft music in the kitchen, tired yet elated from an afternoon of wedding planning, and she sighs.

“You’re hell-bent on ruining a moment, aren’t you.”

“I’m not! I’m thinking romantic!”

“About what?!”

“About how we’re the perfect size for the first dance!”

She gives him a quizzical, raised eyebrow as his arms snake around her shoulders without needing to lift very much.

“See? Perfect shoulder-hugging height.”

“You know the hand-on-shoulder bit is for the female dance routine, right?”

“Ames, it’s gonna be us, dancing. You think the wrong arm-placement is the worst thing people will see?”

They’re swaying again, but not from dancing - the walk home from Shaw’s is usually a swaying one, if they fail to hail a cab. They’ve actually decided on it this time, though - wanting just a little more time to reminisce about the day before they get home.

Amy’s heels click on the pavement, her white dress swinging around her legs, and her bare shoulders are starting to shiver in the evening cold. Without a leather jacket or hoodie to offer up like usual, Jake wraps an arm around her shoulder instead to pull her closer.

Their new rings click too, when her hand reaches up to meet his to hold.

“Perfect height.” She mumbles more to herself as she leans her head in the crook of his neck, at just the right height that doesn’t make her bend her back too much, turns to nuzzle into him even while continuing their slow walk.

“Your heels are helping.” He fake-scoffs with the most glowing heart-eyes she’s ever seen, and it doesn’t earn him a punch for once. She’s just too happy for it.

“You’ll be glad about my petite size when you’re trying to heap me over the treshold with your puny arms, Peralta.”

He giggles as he bends down to kiss her.

“How’s it all going over here?” Amy smiles at her two boys as she re-appears from some library stacks she’s gotten lost in, asking for ‘just a minute’ about thirty minutes ago.

“We’re great.” Jake bounces up and down with a smiling, arm-shaking Mac strapped to his chest. “You’ve already infected him. He keeps turning his head to stare at all the colourful kids books and arts corner.”

“I didn’t infect him. The Santiago-genes are just that strong.”

“He already looks exactly like you, and now you’re gonna claim his whole personality too? Harsh.” Jake groans, as if having a tiny mini-Amy wouldn’t be a dream for him.

“If we’re going by eating habits and temper tantrums, I’m definitely not the personality-guide here.”

Jake snorts indignantly even as Mac squeals when his mom’s face comes into view as she leans her head on Jake’s shoulder to smile at him. Her fingers carefully stroke through the messy dark curls poking out from the baby carrier just as she feels Jake’s hand in her hair as he presses a kiss to her scalp.

“Perfect height.” He mumbles, and she nods.

“Right between my two boys.”

(ok so this whole season, jake and amy were continuously saying to one another “no matter what” and i really feel like that exemplifies their relationship as a whole and so… here’s me spiraling)

“…and i’ll wake up for every feeding, every time he cries, whether it is 3 pm or 3 am,” jake says after everyone leaves the hospital room. amy gives him a look, as if to say really. it’s okay. he shakes his head. “i promised i’ll be there, no matter what.”

“no matter what you do,” amy says, halfway out the door for her first day back at work, “do not watch die hard with him. he’s only three months old.” (spoiler: jake puts on die hard. mac dozes off to the sound of yippee ki-yay motherfuckers) 

“no, no, no,” jake says, breathing heavily into the phone. he ducks behind a car. “no matter what the scanner says, do not come to the scene. i will be fine.” another gun shot goes off. “our son needs you.” when jake makes it back to the precinct four hours later, exhausted and beat but whole, and that’s what matters, he’s whole and he’s alive, amy greets him with their one-year-old son in her arms, pulling jake into a mess of a hug.

“your daddy and i will always love you,” amy says, pressing a kiss to mac’s forehead. he squirms and giggles, his toddler years turning him into a peralta now more than ever. “no matter what.” 

“daddy,” mac says firmly, only five-years-old and carrying the serious santiago gene, “promise you’ll catch me.” jake stands in the pool, his arms outstretched: “of course i will, bud. no matter what.”
