Find a karaoke box to perform...
In East Asia, karaoke is often enjoyed in a more private setting, rather than in bars or clubs. You can rent a karaoke-equipped room by the hour or half-hour and share the costs with a few friends.
This is an excellent way to ease into karaoke because you can hand-pick your audience. You can also investigate how much it costs to privately rent an actual karaoke-equipped venue; if you get enough people together to chip in, it could work.

Rush Rocks Harder Than Ever at 40th Anniversary Tour Stop in New Jersey
When it comes to Rush, people tend fall into two groups: those who get the band and those who don't.
When the Canadian icons played the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on June 27, the 18,000-seat arena was obviously stuffed with fans who have been championing the band for four decades. And after watching the trio deliver a spectacular concert with lights and visuals that were just as entertaining as the music, you're tempted to chuckle and shake your head at those who remain puzzled by the group's enduring popularity.

Demi Lovato's "Cool For The Summer"
Love it or hate it, Demi Lovato's "Cool For The Summer" is undeniably the pop star's most self-assured statement to date.
The new single shoves the listener into blissful submission, as the former Disney star swaps out the breathy flirtatiousness of "Heart Attack" with imperative sentences and not-too-subtle bi-curious cheekiness. "Cool For The Summer" is a bulldozer of a single, pushing Lovato's arena-ready pop-rock sound is cranked up to 11.

'American Idol Live!' Opening Night: The Magic Number Is Five
Five is a pretty good number when it comes to music. Just ask the Jackson 5, the 5th Dimension or the Rolling Stones album 12 x 5. Afew days ago, in Clearwater, Fla., five was also a great number, as the top five from season 14 of American Idol headlined a five-star, crowd-pleasing, two-hour concert that gave the audience an “up close and personal” look at their favorite finalists.
The evening was filled with 28 songs, most from either the current Hot 100 or the Billboard singles charts from the past few years. It was a cavalcade of hook-laden top 40 smashes.

"Bitch Better Have My Money" Is Not Too Violent or Too Sexist - It's Just Too Obvious
It's been a week since Rihanna released the video for “Bitch Better Have My Money”, and now that we've weathered the first storm of think pieces trying to decide whether it’s problematic or sexist.
The video is spectacularly violent and features Rihanna and her girl gang kidnapping the shit out of some woman and placing her in loads of abusive situations. At the end of the video we discover she's the wife of "the accountant", some gross guy who’s rinsing all of badgalriri’s money on grade A booze and escorts. The wife's life appears to be spared while he is brutally murdered with an array of things you could purchase from B&Q.

Tips to Karaoke The Right Way
When karaoke became popular in Japan back in the 1970s, no one ever imagined it would become a worldwide sensation. The amateur sing-a-long has since given birth to video games such as Guitar Hero, High School Musical: Sing It and a slew of other karaoke-themed activities.
Do not tap, drop or swing the microphone. The crowd will surely love you and the DJ will love you even more for not abusing his or her equipment. Sing with the microphone at least five to six inches away from your mouth or you will end up sounding like Darth Vader.

Meg Baird :: Don’t Weigh Down The Light
It’s been five long years since Meg Baird’s last solo album, but the singer-songwriter (formerly of the late/great Espers) is back with Don’t Weigh Down the Light, a deeply satisfying effort that feels like an instant psych-folk classic.
Baird relocated to San Francisco from Philadelphia recently and you might hear a little bit of Golden State sunshine in the grooves here, as subtle piano and electric 12-string textures fill out the picture. It’s still Meg’s high, lonesome voice and gorgeous fingerpicking that take center stage, however — and rightly so.
