Due to the sensitivity of the topic, this chapter terrified me to write. I've never written so slowly, or carefully, or tossed out so many draft words ever. But it's done, if you want to look at it.

“Guys!” Spider-Woman shouts, interrupting them. “Can you answer Morales’ question? Is there another way?”

Peter takes a breath, and shakes his head. “We’ve been trying—and we’ll keep trying. But this is our best bet. At the very least it might buy us time to find a solution. So,” he says with a raise of his eyebrows. “Miles Morales? Meet Gwen Stacy. Gwen Stacy—Miles Morales.”

There’s no proper way to describe the tension as the two face one another. It’s thick and anxious and Miles is surprised one of them hasn’t run from the room to escape it. He tries to smile, but he’s sure it looks more like a grimace. How can it not, with the news they’ve just gotten? But he’s a realist. The situation is what it is, and Miles can’t think of anything they have to lose. So the first time he says his future wife’s name, it’s in a shitty proposal.

“Well Gwen Stacy, what do you say? Will you marry me?”

"Hola, Miles.” Gwen drops her bag and takes the seat next to him. She doesn’t build up to it. She just comes right out and says it. “I think I have a crush on Spider-Man.” “I - ¡¿qué?!” He looks like he’s just glitched in real life. Gwen grins.

how did you grow as a writer last year: I don't think I did

who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer, beta, cheerleader, etc.): All the people I'm glad to call my friends.

anything from your real life show up in your writing last year: Yes, but I won't say what.

any new wisdom you can share with other writers: Write what makes you happy, don't feel pressure to appeal to anyone else in what you write or how often you update, always try to have fun.

any projects you’re looking to starting (or finishing) this year: So many! I hope to get something done on my pirates AU (I'm delusional), the FWB fic I only have one chapter of, the Office AU, YHYB is just going to go on forever, and I want to try writing for some pairings other than Miles and Gwen. So far just Hiccstrid and Percabeth. I have a few ideas there which should be fun.

the gang running up to do a group hug when they find out hiccup and astrid are dating means literally EVERYTHING to me. it's genuinely one of my favorite moments of the entire franchise. i love the moments in rtte when you get to see that they really are just one little family, and despite all their teasing, annoyance, and arguments, they all love each other.

and hey families get on each other's nerves and fight all the time, but at the end of the day, those are the people who stick with you and are by your side every step of the way :))
