So it kind of looks more like everyone scrambling around trying to figure out what the FRICK to do until the Witch just is like I GIVE UP YOU PEOPLE ARE ON YOUR OWN.

Yup exactly. I thought that was kind of what the movie was lacking in when it came to what would be act II. They don't really have that one specific moment when they realize it's not happily ever after.

I made a post about it but Bernie’s Witch completely loses her sass and sarcasm. For the rest of the musical (in which she has like 10 minutes of stage time left before the end) she just acts angry and blunt and I think she even flails less.

*skims brain* It was Rapunzel first. She ran under the giant’s foot, Jack’s mother was killed, and she was moved offstage as Witch sang the Lament. I also was watching it again (obviously with the liveblogging) and the Witch completely changes her tone after Rapunzel’s death. Which is another part of how I said it changes Last Midnight.

I honestly do think personally that Rapunzel’s not dying took away from the end a bit. In the Broadway everybody saw it and to me that kind of felt like the scene where everybody realized shit just got real if you know what I mean. Everybody was concerned about being crushed by the giant (because who wouldn’t be?) but then actually seeing it happen kind of freaked everybody out and made it feel more urgent. Though I’m honestly too critical of the movie because I also think it could’ve been so much worse.

{ lol judgy theater people are the best. I am disappointed with a lot of the changes they made, except for Rapunzel’s Prince being “good” because I think it shows that not all Princes are bad ?? Idk that’s just me and I’m a little iffy on Rapunzel not dying. I think it took away from the Witch’s death but at the same time at least she and her Prince got their happy ending maybe? }

Wait but I think I’ve seen that before not on tumblr…? But seriously like way early on I vaguely remember reading a thing about how they were doing “script changes” and not killing off Rapunzel. I was watching the movie production really closely with a friend since we’re both judgey theatre people.
