Statement of Intent

I have chosen to study Film and Television in order to expand on and further develop my skills as a filmmaker as well as to gain practical skills and knowledge aligned with professional studio environments and current industry standards and requirements.

I aspire to study at JMC because I feel that while offering important subjects dedicated to teaching skills and practices required to secure employment in a wide range of professions, there is also attention being given to the artistic and creative side of the industry, and within and alongside these subjects an invitation to explore and develop skills in mediums outside traditional film and television studios. JMC also provides exceptional studio spaces and equipment, and appeals to my interest in film for music videos, shorts, and documentaries.

In the next 5 years I’d like to find employment with a production company that focuses on film and video for musicians and artists, where I can gain real industry skills and create a network of industry contacts. I would eventually like to start my own production company which caters to musicians and artists who are looking to make music videos, short films, and live and in studio performance videos. My plan is to study and improve my technical and networking skills while continuing to create content and build a portfolio of my work which I can show to prospective employers and clients.

I believe I am the best applicant for this course because I have shot and edited freelance as well as personal creative projects, I have studied and been practising skills in sound production specifically related to sound for film, I have been making contacts both locally and overseas with like minded filmmakers and artists, and I have a good understanding of certain fundamentals that will ease and encourage further growth in this program.I have a creative goal and the drive and ambition to attain it, and I am passionate and eager to learn and take away as much as possible from this course.

Direct/Film/Edit/Record & Mix Audio for a live performance by artist Daves at Singing Bird Studios in Frankston, VIC.

Direct/Film a live concert for Don Fernando at Cherry Bar in Melbourne, VIC.

Co-Direct/Write/Film/Edit/Record & Mix Audio for an untitled short film featuring live performances by myself and Boy Wonder in multiple locations in Toronto, ON.
