I left behind the sunny skies of Cali and now I'm in the frozen wastelands of Iowa(or as I like to call it, "The place where dreams go to die" lol). I'll be training my parents for a couple of weeks and getting them back into a regular gym and diet regimen. - **Background info** My father was having a hard time getting back into the gym this past year due to medical complications(he was ADDICTED to training prior to his heart surgery). He's regressed significantly in that time, but he hasn't lost an ounce of determination. I've always been abnormally strong for a bodybuilder, but last night I managed to throw up the 120's for 15 and it felt like baby weight😐 lol. Once again, I'm speaking out against another hilariously asinine double standard. There are heated debates and even boycotts over the "unrealistic standards" that Barbie sets for impressionable young girls(but boys apparently seem to be immune to this same impressionability #eyeroll). A new "Average Barbie" model has been proposed(although not yet endorsed by Mattel) with "average" teenage girl proportions. The creator stated that, "Average is beautiful." BULLSHIT! Average is average, and if everything was beautiful then NOTHING would be beautiful. Barbie's proportions are no more ridiculous than He-Man or any other male-oriented action figure. Now, maybe something I mistakenly took for ordinary was actually a super power; but at some point in time during my youth I was blessed with the gift of common sense. I realized that, while I would gladly give up my allowance and all of my fruit-by-the-foot's from my lunch for a year, I was never ACTUALLY going to become the master of Castle Grayskull. However, I did want to become as action figure-like as REALISTICALLY possible and that eventually pushed me into pursing bodybuilding. If a someone's self esteem is crushed by a DOLL because they don't understand it's not possible to have a 16" waist, have feet that belong on a toddler, and have legs than make up 3/4's of your body, then they need a lesson on reality. Both gender's favor a small waistline(hourglass vs V-taper), but the majority of the population doesn't possess that particular bone structure. You were born with your body type and no one else's. All you can do is do the best with what was given to you. I've always liked the original version, but feel it definitely needs an update based on its potential implications and the inflated egos running rampant today. "Stay humble" has a sense of arrogance to it. It's as if you're telling yourself you ARE better than others, but you're somehow a better person for not acknowledging it. Continue putting Physique "Pro's" in the same category as IFBB Bodybuilding Pro's and this is the future you'll look forward to. The degree of dedication and TIME required to become one vs. the other isn't even on the same planet, and should be recognized as such.
