last time i was home from college i went to the dentist for a check up and they always give you a toothbrush after and the toothbrush sitting on the counter was yellow when i came in but at the end of the appointment i went to get it and it had been switched to orange and i asked why it was changed and the hygienist opened my file and handwritten on the inside cover it said “favorite color: orange”

Thinking of the time my teacher wanted to encourage our curiosity and engineering skills so she brought a broken CRT TV and a bunch of screwdrivers into class into class and told us that we could disassemble the TV and muck about with it whenever we wanted during breaks and recess and stuff. The power cord had been cut but otherwise the TV had not been made safe in any way. We were ten years old.

This 19th-century multi-tool from Germany has 100 different blades and a .22-caliber five-shot revolver.

This knife could be described as the Mother of all Swiss Army knives. If you count the miniatures inside the tortoise shell handle covers, it has 100 “blades.” They include pocket knife blades of every style imaginable, a serrated blade, two dagger blades, several different types of shears and scissors, an auger, a corkscrew, two saws, a lancet, button hook, cigar cutter, tuning fork, pens and mechanical pencils, mirror, straight razor, and a functional .22-caliber five-shot pinfire revolver. The one modern convenience it doesn’t seem to have is a bottle opener, but the bottle cap as we know it wasn’t invented until 1892. Source : National Museum of American History

You don’t have to go hike the entire Appalachian trail or anything and I get that not everyone has access to the outdoors for various reasons, but just fucking … look around you when you’re outside. Notice the sky and the sun and the birds and creatures. Start caring about them. I’m begging you.
