also i wanted to comment on something ive been seeing a lot recently

theres been a lot of talk about how c!tommy is healing and getting better based on some of his recent actions, but ive also seen some people talk about how he isnt getting better, i mean look at the wilbur situation and how he still has suicidal thoughts and that one balcony scene and-

and both sides are right. because healing isnt a linear process.

there are ups and down, sometimes you make tons of progress and sometimes you regress back to the beginning or get even worse than when you started, but guess what thats part of life. thats trauma. thats mental illness.

healing isnt a golden staircase. healing is a dirty, rocky mountain full of sharp rocks you have to grab onto and dangerous leaps. you get scrapes, you fall, you learn which equipment will help you climb the mountain and the right way to do it.

of course tommy isn’t well, this kid has been through hell and back and he’ll more often than not go back to his old defense mechanisms, he’ll go back to panicking and dark thoughts. that’s called trauma.

but you cannot deny progress. the way he recognises manipulation. the way he is trying to be open and trusting of people. trying to overcome his traumas. the way he thinks about if he was the asshole in an argument or if it was the other side’s fault. the fact he apologizes. 

he’s self-aware. he is trying. and that in itself is progress. you cant get better if you dont understand what’s wrong. you cant get better if you dont try.
