All the takes are correct and yet they also miss the point. Yes, it was insane for the Democrats to think they could win by running a soulless candidate, without a shred of progressive policy vision, pursuing endorsements from neocon war-hawks everybody hates, while arming and funding a genocide, and belittling and crushing those who have enough morality to protest it. It is enraging that the Democrats are so smug and blind to this. But these are all just symptoms. The deeper reality is that liberalism has failed, liberalism is dead, and people urgently need to wake up to this fact and respond accordingly. It is a defunct ideology that cannot offer any meaningful solutions to our social and ecological crises and it must be abandoned. Democrats have proven over and over again that they cannot accept even basic steps like public healthcare, affordable housing, and a public job guarantee - things that would dramatically improve the material, social and political conditions of the working classes. And they cannot accept a public finance strategy that would steer production away from fossil fuels and toward green transition to give us a shot at a liveable future. Why? Because these things run against the objectives of capital accumulation. And for liberals capital is sacrosanct. They will do whatever it takes to ensure elite accumulation, it is their only consistent commitment. At home, they suppress and demonize progressive and socialist tendencies. Abroad, they engage in endless wars and violence to suppress input prices in the global South and prevent any possibility of sovereign economic development. The Democrats have done all this purposefully and knowingly, for my whole life, not as some kind of "mistake" but in full consciousness that it is in the interests of capital. And because liberalism cannot address our crises, and because it crushes socialist alternatives, it inevitably paves the way for right-wing populism. They know this pattern, and yet they risk it every time - this election being only the most recent example. They did it in 2016, when they actively crushed the Sanders campaign and sent Trump to the White House. They do it because ultimately they (and I mean the liberal ruling class here) don't really mind if fascists take power, so long as the latter too ensure the conditions for capital accumulation. They 100% prefer this to the possibility of a socialist alternative. So, progressives have to face reality. The dream of "converting" the Democratic party is dead. This is now a fact and it must be accepted. The only option is to build a mass-based movement that can reclaim the working classes and mobilize a political vehicle that can integrate disparate progressive struggles into a unified and formidable political force and achieve substantive transformation. This will take real work, actual organizing, but it must be done and that process must begin now.

Episode 01

Age 732, Planet Vegeta

King Vegeta proceeds into the nursery chamber, his eyes locked on the central platform. As he made his way towards his son's pod, the Royal Midwives rallied adjacent to him to offer their reports on Prince Vegeta's growth.

"His growth remains at nominal levels, my liege, at this rate he should reach a power level of 600 by tomorrow" said one scientist, reading off the numbers from his Medical-Grade Scouter. Their reliance on the Cold Empire's technological prowess was not lost on His Majesty, but progress was slow when your entire tribe served as a mercenary force.

"Nominal isn't befitting of the Prince of All Saiyans" Vegeta finally spoke to the surprise of the Midwife. The ensemble had made its way to the Prince's pod. Vegeta watched his son floating inside of the chamber. He rest his hand against the glass. Their future rested in the hands of this infant child, suspended in a turquoise dream of amniotic fluid.

"Increase what you can of his nutrient intake" The King commanded, "My son will not be some ordinary warrior". With that, the Midwives were dismissed, and Vegeta made his way towards the exit. However, something peculiar caught his eye. There on the second stratum of the central platform, was a child unknown to him. He snapped his fingers towards one of the medical team, and pointed at the subject.

"What is a commoner child doing in this section?" He inquired, "This space is reserved for nobility."

"Ah, yes, your Highness!" One member of the team chimed in, searching her scouter for the correct records. "That would be the son of Lieutenant Paragus, Broly" she went on, "He's shown remarkable growth over the course of several days - a power level of 900!"

Vegeta feels a stone turn in his heart, and remains silent. Another scientist asserts that this Broly child could prove to be a valuable asset to the Royal Guard - a bodyguard for the Prince. But the King would have none of it. He demanded that Paragus' child be returned to the lower levels where he belonged, and dismissed himself from the nursery.

Arrogant researchers, they know nothing of Pride. What kind of Warrior Prince would need protection from some common trash? I'll see to Paragus and his spawn myself if need be.

I have to ask for help in worst possible circumstances.

My mom is dead. She died from a heart attack while working abroad. She was sole breadwinner of our family.

I am a trans woman too disabled to work due to mental illness (I'm constantly tired and sleep 18-20 hours a day) while my dad is also disabled to leg injury.

WE HAVE NO MONEY LEFT. My dad has a job lined up for an interview, but it will take at least a month until first paycheck.

Is Shanks Spying on Luffy?

Probably not, but let's talk about it anyway.

So, in Chapter 1126, we see what is probably the closest signifier that Shanks will be an antagonist for Luffy to defeat in the future. Bartolomeo and his crew are caught by the Red-Hair pirates after they've done some (imo out-of-character) dishonorable burning of Shank's flag. Completely unsure of what could have possibly prompted this from Bartolomeo, but I digress.

After a quick test of his loyalty, Shanks sends Bartolomeo and co. on their way, but decidedly allows Yassopp to blow their ship out of the water. Distinctly, their status is left "unknown", which at this point translates to "not dead until we see them again". This comes as a bit of a surprise to me, as we've seen Shanks laugh off much more directly insulting behavior (the bar scene from the first chapter). I'm curious as to why he'd care about appearances this late into the game?

This also marks the second time we've seen Shanks bring down another pirate crew - the first being the Kidd Pirates. The other major feats we've seen included his complete victory over Green Admiral (I forget his name, he's lame anyway) using nothing but Haki. He was sending bad vibes out from MILES AWAY. I think this gradual turn is related to the meeting Shanks had with the Gorosei, and that perhaps he pledged himself some time after Luffy ate the fruit to keep an eye on him. He was present at Marineford, and put an end to that conflict. He protected the Straw Hats from Admiral Green, but kept his distance to go handle Bartolomeo.

His comment to Ben about "isn't it about time we get the One Piece?" makes me think that he was explicitly waiting for Luffy to reach this point. And then, he would present himself as the final hurdle before achieving his dreams. For what end? I don't know.
