I'm Barbara Gordon, the librarian at Vindex Academy. I'm a former crime fighter and information broker who now mostly uses her skills for helping students with their homework.

Jessica looked up and recognized the woman talking to her as the librarian. What was her name again? She was fairly sure it started with a B. She could ask later. “Trust me, I’d rather have slept in my bed as well. I’m sorry, it just happened. Next time, feel free to kick me out as soon as you see me dozing off. If there is a next time, that is.”
“It’s fine. Some of the students have definitely needed to be waken up in here. I’m not too concerned,” Barbara replied, not mentioning that the only time she had really been concerned is when someone had started to talk or drool on the books when they slept. “If there’s a next time, Miss Jones, I’ll remember this.”

“I have seen the same tampon commercial about 5 times in the past hour. I don’t care if it now has a leak resistant braid.”
“Let me guess... Playtex or Tampax is really stepping up their game,” Barbara quirked a brow, taking a long drink of her coffee.

“Geeze, let it go. We’re all mature adults here, no bad blood between anyone. Give that scared shitless act a break! It’s gettin’ old! Can’t you see I’m a new person?”
Taking a deep breath, Barbara nodded. “I suppose you’re correct. Look, if we need to work here together, you may as well call me Barbara instead of Bat anything,” she began, holding out her hand. “So, let’s try to have a fresh start.”

“Because it’s quitting time, and I’d rather have you sleep in your bed than on the couches in here,” Barbara replied, the keys jangling in her hand. She had been used to waking up some people that had been in here reading books for hours or preparing themselves for their classes, but sometimes she just wondered.
“Please tell me you have a good reason for waking me up.” Hell, that was what she got for falling asleep in the library. In her defense, they had extremely comfortable couches and extremely boring books. It was not like she had planned to fall asleep. It just happened. Sleeping in public was actually very embarrassing. Hopefully no one had drawn dicks all over her face, or something. Was that too much to ask for in an institution that only allowed students 18 and up? Probably.

“Okay... you’re much worse than I thought and I thought you looked like hell,” Barbara said, wheeling up to her and looking her up and down. “Come on, you should go up to your room and rest.”
“Do I really look that sick? Because I feel–Ahchoo! I feel fine. Actually…Could you take my temperature, ‘cause I know I shouldn’t be seeing three of you right now.”

“Who made the last batch? Because you are correct. It’s worse than I thought,” Babs grimaced, setting down her own mug of the stuff. “I could make some.”
“Oh god, this coffee is terrible.” Kenna made a face, taking another hesitant sip. “Who knows how to make good coffee?”

“I’m teachin’ logic and interrogation, kinda ironic- isn’ it? You’re not scarred of me, are ya? Worried you’ll wake up one night with me standin’ over ya with a big ol’ bazooka? They don’t even let’cha bring weapons in here.”
“I suppose we could say that. No, not afraid. Knowing that that rule is in place might give me a reason to sleep peacefully at night. Well, partly because of that.”

“I like guns, I like food, I like a lot of things.” he shrugged widely slowly walking behind her. “Nothing too long though, if I read for too long I start having the boxes yell at me.”
“So something shorter, for sure,” Babs looked confused when he had mentioned boxes. “Boxes, gotcha. Well, for a shorter book about an older type of gun, there’s The Webley Service Revolver book. It’s 80 pages.”

Bucky started back at Barbara his lips pulling up into a tired smile. “I take it black if you can hand me another mug.”
“Black. Gotcha,” she made the note before wheeling over to the counter and pouring the bitter liquid in another mug. “Personally, I’m a two sugars person,” the red head commented before handing over the cup.

“Yeah…I don’t usually do that.” Klif stood up. “Thanks for waking me up.” he said with a small smile. “Did you say something about fresh coffee and bagels?”
“Have you just not been sleeping well over the last few days? That could be it,” she suggested before checking her watch. “The first call for coffee and bagels was precisely six minutes and twenty three seconds ago. There’s still time. And it’s no problem.”

“I’m sure once school starts students will be coming in and out it’ll get a little more eventful” She commented
“Hopefully. I wouldn’t doubt it, this is the place where you could get the best help on anything from research papers to chemical equations for experimentation,” Barbara rolled her eyes at the comment she just made.

“Don’t like what ya see, Batbabe? I seem ta’ have that effect on most people. I’m teachin’, duh. Just like old times!”
“It’s just... I didn’t think you would be here. What are they having you teach here?”

Grinning at her he walked ahead of her keeping his pace slow enough for her to not have to push herself in her wheelchair. He was a considerate guy. “Don’t know I just want a book and you are the lady to help me.”
“Okay...” Barbara mentally went though topics in her mind before beginning to start mentally filing through the books. “So, you just want a book. Well, to figure out what book would be best fit for you, interests and book length are good starting points.”

“If you start with asking me if I’m fine turn around and don’t bother.”
“Then I’ll ask you if you want some coffee. You look like you could use some,” Barbara shrugged, pouring herself a cup.
