Are you in love? Or does he just need you, and you like being needed? Are you in love, or are you so tired of lowering the bar you have promised yourself - this is not the ground, it could go lower - as if being in the basement is comfortable enough. Is he good to you, or is he just sometimes good to you and that makes it "kind of count". How many times have you asked him to change. And how many times has he stayed the same.

but what if i don’t want to move?
i know we’re both just messing around pretending to be whole but look at me. if the train was coming would you move. if the ground was falling from under your feet would you even notice or would it just be another tuesday for you. if somebody stabbed you could it hurt worse than you already do. what i’m saying is that i love you but i think we both drive over the speed limit when it’s raining. what i’m saying is that i want to hold your hand and i understand about how you sometimes have to sit down in the shower. what i’m saying is that i’m here for you and if the train comes please move.

oh, how we crave to be someone’s barricade, shelter and home, if possible.
i want to be someone else’s safety. even nonromantically. i want to be “hey can i tell you something?” i want to be - i tried something new and i’m a little scared but i wanted to show you. i want to be “i knew i could trust you”. i want to be okay to hold the hand of, always ready to listen, always trying. even if i don’t get it perfect, you know? i just want to be a place other people can relax and be themselves and not worry for a fraction of an instant.

Okay I officially get it. I am not a significant person to you. I am a distraction & a loophole & a backburner solution. I am good fun while it lasts. You don't like me like that. I just wish you'd told me sooner since I'm just... That friend. The one you text when nobody else is answering. I'm a "oh yeah, her" not a "she's the first person I'm calling". I don't know why I'm not good enough, but I swear I'm trying. I'm sorry for not being the first answer. I'm sorry for what makes me wrong. I wanted to be there for you. I just never seem to know the right words to your song.

it doesn’t hurt to be kind.
“Be kind to others. All souls carry burdens, and are burdened by untold stories and horrors, about demons and inner-demons and it does not hurt to be kind to a hurting soul. But you do not need to know if someone is hurting to be kind.”

how do one even rate sadness when feelings come in a wave, unpredictable all at once?
on a scale of one to ten how sad are you.
you almost say seven but the answer floats in your lungs like rising mud. you shift your shoulders. some part of you is already forming an excuse. that it’s not that bad sometimes. one, two, three on a day that the clouds are out. you’re just complaining about stuff. yesterday you laughed past a brick of a four, does that make the brick come down to a two-point-five. the solid seven panic attack of last tuesday feels somehow like a little thorn, just a regular day full of a gentle three-point-nine earthquake rocking after yesterday’s close-to-an-eight. see but if tomorrow you have a real bad day, it will make today look simple.
and what if. what if tomorrow it’s a big old red eight-point-nine. like one of those days where sirens are going off in every part of you but you’re stuck behind a glass window watching it all burn down. like one of those days that your skin against the air feels foreign. like too much of everything. like sitting-in-the-shower, like can’t-eat, like the tide isn’t just coming in, it came while you were sleeping and now you’ve gotta learn how to swim. like bounce me against a bullet hole kind of day.
you keep numbers like nine and ten way out of reach. those are for the people who really are suffering. you’ve got no excuse. nine and ten are funeral numbers, for real problems, not yours, no. and sometimes you’re fine. and you’re kind of used to it. and it’s not sad, it’s just numb like a television caught on static. numb like i can’t remember if i care about this. numb like nothing works but i can’t be bothered to fix it. that’s not sad that’s every day stuff. everybody feels like this, right? feels like they’ve been shut off. right.
maybe five. right in the middle. like not gonna shoot myself but i’m not wasting your time. a nonanswer. like could be worse could be better. like i need help but i don’t want you to worry even though i need someone to worry about me because i can’t worry about myself. maybe five. but what if five is too small. what if five is too big. what if -
“on a scale of one to ten,” he repeats into your silence, and then pauses. “and please be honest about this.”

basking in the sunlight never felt more right in the moment.
the yellow sun came down wrong. i was baptized in a light that never reached my core, that never healed me. i don’t know what warmth means. i’ve been doing happy wrong since i was thirteen.

your health is more important than any grade, any job, any class. if you’re afraid of failure, think of how bad it would be if your body failed you. please take care of yourself first, then everything else will fall into place

Quote
And so I’ll stop searching for you in crowded corridors filled with strangers counting down hours. I’ll stop meeting your eye when we cross paths in the endless labyrinth. I’ll stop changing plans with the intent that I might see you and with your hands in your shoes and sadness in your heart. I’ll stop looking over headless shoulders, I’ll stop staying up all night. I’ll stop I’ll stop I’ll stop
I can’t keep trying for a boy who doesn’t see me (via fallsed)

types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize you’ve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if you’re feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you can’t seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. it’ll help bring you back.
if there’s something else going on in your life and you can’t get it off your mind: write down what’s going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. it’ll help you work things out.
if you’re just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and you’ll hit REM and you’ll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if there’s a crash course video online about it or draw out what you’re trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you won’t shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they won’t absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend who’s not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
