FINAL MAGAZINE
This my final outcome for my magazine ‘BLISS’.
Showing the theme utopia through portraiture and fashion using different techniques and edits.
I choose all of these outcomes to be part of my magazine as I felt they al fitted in well together and had a theme throughout. I made sure every piece had a hint of pink, I think this worked very well as it made the whole magazine link and nothing looked out of the ordinary. My favourite part of this project and magazine were the studio shoots as I feel they give a bold, modern fashionable look. I think they all fit very well together too, something that I had to change right at the end of the project was the order and some of the photos I was going to include. I changed this because they didn't work through the magazine and they just really stood out, these were the images that were took outside as they just didn't fit in, they also weren't as good quality as the others so they didn't look as bold.
Something else that worked really well was my edits as this is how I made all my images link by adding the pink hints in places. I like this because it makes the magazine bright, with a very exciting, happy mood.

COLOUR GELS RESEARCH
I researched colour gels photography on Pinterest and found some cool images that use colour gels and create different colours within the image. I like this technique because the images are bold and bright and create a cool affect which is more interesting than a normal photo as it almost looks like a coloured filter has been added. I like how they get different colours that are bright and all link in a colour pallete in one image as it makes the image look more interesting. I will take inspiration from this as it seems that they use coloured back drop with a colour gel that compliments the colour as the background looks like a block colour- I will definitely use this idea when I use colour gels again.

COLOUR GELS SHOOT
I took this shoot using the pink and green colour jell. I used the pink so it fitted with the theme throughout my magazine then I used the green to go with jazz’s outfit as she had green within it. I experimented with different poses within this shoot so my images in my magazine look different. My favourite images in my shoot are the ones at the start where jazz is laying her head n the white box with her hair bowed out as she looks really free and whispy. This links well with my theme as its all perfect and pretty. I also like the photos with the green colour gel with her puffer done up as it makes the image more bold and a clearer focal point. Finally I edited some of the images that were my favourite by re-touching them and changing the hue and brightness to make some of the images pink and brighter.

DRAWING WITH LIGHT RESEARCH
I research drawing with light on Pinterest and found some really cool ideas. My favourite ideas were when the light looks like its being dragged through the image, as it looks realistic and interesting- next time I will try this to try get this outcome. I also like the swirls as its looks cool and interesting- I was inspired to use this technique however we used different colours which made it brighter and cooler. I also like the idea of drawing around a body as it looks weird and interesting however ours didn't turn out well at all because it was thin and didn't look realistic I could try this again using more pens to make the light thicker.

DRAWING WITH LIGHT
In this workshop we used coloured pen lights- these were light pens which you could put different colour tips on. We experimented with making different shapes drawing around one of our bodies to create a shape of a person. and then we just created loads of swirls using different colours together. This was a cool workshop as they all came out bright and bold. The colours stood out well in the images we took with multiple colours using the swirling motions. These looked cool as they were bright, messy and crazy- this didn't really link with ,y theme utopia as its not perfect but I used bright colours to try link it as much as I can to utopia- this is why I used the bright colours, pink was my favourite as it was so bright and bold.

HOME PHOTOSHOOT
I took this shoot at home of Tilly using a bed sheet- this gave me a very utopian vibe so I liked these images and thought they fitted my theme well. I like the images of her outfit where I've made the bed sheet pink by changing the hue, because they're bright and bold they also represent fashion and utopia as Ive made it bright and pretty. I also added a grain over the image to make it look more vintage. I created other edits with this shoot that are very bright, interesting and have a happy exciting mood.

PROJECTION
In this workshop I created a projection outline that I wanted too projection onto the model and wall. I created three different designs to project my favourites were the swirls and the repeated utopia. I like this because they came out the best and the boldest- I also edited these to images to make them fit in with my magazine utopia and the pink theme throughout my magazine. I editted these by changing the brightness and the hue as this made it brighter. I love the image with utopia projected as it looks very editorial and bold- this will fit in well with my magazine.
I found some examples on Pinterest which helped me decide how I wanted to create my projections. I was inspired by these example to use words which ended up turning out very well- I will definitely use this technique again and maybe experiment with different colours when creating my projection. My research also gave me the idea to use shapes- however this didn't turn out as well as I feel the lines in my circles needed to be thicker to make them bolder and stand out more, this would have made the image more interesting. I will try this technique again using bright colours and cold text and maybe try angle. the projection half over the face like I found for my research as I thought this looked very cool.

FINALISING LOGO
I changed my logo last minute to this plain white bold type ‘BLISS’. I decided to change this as it fitted better with my front cover, I also think think is more aesthetically pleasing as it bold bright and a plain colour which goes well with every colour. I was inspired by lots of different magazines like DAZED, vogue and LOVE magazine. As their logos are very plain and bold but make it stand out so much more.

PHOTOSHOOT - ABBEY GARDENS
I did this photoshoot with Jazz in abbey gardens, I chose this location as its very floral and there's lots of different places to take pictures. I liked how floral it is because it links perfectly with my theme utopia. I chose my favourite images and edited them by retouching them and some added more editing. My favourite set is the ones where she's lying in the leaves as its different and looks so aesthetically pleasing. All these images are pretty, bright and vibrant- I like this because it makes the image much more bold.

OUTSIDE PHOTOSHOOT
I took these images onsite at college, I love how this shoot went as its different to all my others and I also think its fits in really nicely with utopia. My favourite images were the ones taken with the sunlight shining strait onto her, this made the image bright and seem super light, I also loved how the shadows sat on her body. These pictures fit in really well with the utopia style.
I also took some images in the studio, I really like the poses jazz is doing im these images as they seem very flow, dainty and perfect which fits in with utopian very well however the lightening in the images isn't the best so I need to edit some to make the lighter.
I retouched my favourite images to make them perfect, I will defiantly use some of these images in my magazine.

NADIA LEE COHEN
Nadia Lee Cohen is a British art photographer, filmmaker and self-portrait artist. She is inspired by British and American cinema of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. I like her photography as its very bold and makes a big statement. All her colour palettes for each photo work really well together this makes the image look very aesthetically pleasing. I love how she uses the coloured backdrops in some of her pictures as she matches the outfit well to fit the backdrop. Some of her work seems very unrealistic which links to what she trying to portray as its British and American cinema.
I will take inspiration from her photography in the way she uses her backgrounds and links the colour palettes off each image.

SHOOT LOCATION IDEAS
My plan for my next independent shoot is to go to Abbey Gardens to get some images there. I think this will be perfect for my shoot full of bright flowers and has very pretty scenes- this will fit perfectly with my theme as it all seems immaculate there- this links with utopia very well.
I researched these ideas of pintrest for fashion shoot locations and I loved these ideas ass they are all very bright and vibrant which I love because I feel like its makes the images so much more exciting. I will take inspiration from this by taking some of my shoots outside in fields, infrony go trees, and then take images infront of cool architecture as it makes the image more interesting. I got the inspiration for these ideas off the photographer Kirsten-Lee Moolman as she takes a lot of her images outside looking very bright and pretty which links to the utopian theme perfectly.
This is some of her pictures all super bright in the utopian style. I love her images as they are very editorial and vibrant. I love all the locations of her shoot as they make the image look Sio much cooler and more interesting. She also uses her colour palettes very well as all the models outfits link with the surrounds and the colours all fit in very well together. I will also take inspiration of how she edits her images because they look very light with a lot of white tones which makes the image look very dainty which links so well with utopia.

STYLING IDEAS
I found some styling ideas on pintrest which I thought would be perfect for a shoot either outside or in the white studio. I picked these outfits because they’re bright, fashionable and would stand out well in front of the white backdrop or outside with bright surroundings. I thought picking quite bright outfits would fit in with my theme perfectly as utopia is very bright and colourful with a happy mood to it. I will use this inspiration when styling for my shoots as I think it will fit really well with the theme.

MAGAZINE LAYOUT IDEAS
I found all these cool layout ideas on pintrest, I did this research so I could get inspiration for my magazine and how to layout my images and type to get the best outcome. These ideas have really given me inspiration to go outside the box and not just go with the simple design. In my magazine I going to take inspiration from this and use type collage and different colour backgrounds. My favourite is the layout that says ‘GIRLS’ in the background in the different shades on pink. I think the colour palettes on this design have been done so well as the pinks in the type and the background link in with the models pink hair and the blue chequered outfit goes really well with the pinks. When designing my magazine I will make sure Ive throughly thought about all the colours in the image and in the designs ie- type and backgrounds.
