164. fun evening with the homies. Community is so important, especially those that feed and push you to be better at whatever you’re practicing in life. There’s nothing better than doing something I love with people I love. What feeds you? Who are the people that elevate you? Who do you elevate? All of this is important as you navigate life. I can’t do it alone, none of us can. Identify your squad and roll with them, share with them and elevate them. We only have one life.

What expectations do you have in your relationships? Are those expectations a projection or actual agreements you've made? How do you distinguish expectation from responsibility? Sometimes the weight of these two things can be collapsed onto each other and it is what can feel like a burden. 160. el morro. I felt like a kid again, absorbing family history in more ways than one. From the Taínos to my father, I was in the awareness of being a son of many generations. From victories to trauma, I have a history which needs to be celebrated and healed. my father and I have not had a close relationship, yet I opened myself up to the possibility of being close and have the opportunity to celebrate and heal. it was here he told me about flying kites, the political landscape of PR and his fear of heights. I couldn’t help but notice my reflection in him. It was a oneness assuring me I was on this planet for a reason. I felt deeply rooted in who I am.

159. being at my grandfather’s farm up in the mountains in Utuado was like traveling back to a familiar place I’ve never been. I could picture my dad, my aunts and uncles running around, working the land and living from its offerings. i’ve been feeling a pull in the last few months to have my own land, grow my own food and be closer to nature. I guess I don’t fall far from the family tree.

158. home. i took this ancestral journey to reconnect with my roots and have a better understanding of where I come from and who I come from. I’m Brooklyn through and through. I’m NYC through and through. I’m also the son of parents who came from Puerto Rico in search of something better. The grandson of grandparents who worked hard, worked the land and did everything they could to feed their families. The descendant of Spaniards, Africans and Tainos. I am me. I am home.

157. just had one of the most surreal and amazing moments of my life. I had a conversation that would not have been possible if I didn’t open up my heart. If you lead with love and trust the universe to take care of you, it will. love is an important foundation for everything. as it is the connector of life. Stay open kinfolk! ✌🏽❤️
