The most special interest hyperfixation TM thing I think I’ve done recently is when a friend said curiously “I wonder what the prefixes ‘cis’ and ‘trans’ even mean originally”

And I was learning about the Cetls and I was like “well when Rome was conquering the Gauls, they successful took their territory all the way up to the Alps, and that territory was called Cisalpine Gaul, whereas the Gauls’ territory across the Alps was called Transalpine Gaul, so probably I guess they mean ‘this side’ and ‘the other side’ or something sorta like that.”

And then after all that I was like. OH WE’RE TALKING ABOUT GENDER.

just learned that the word “ferret” is derived from the Latin word furittus meaning “LITTLE THIEF” and that a group of ferrets is called a BUSINESS and i am absolutely pleased with this new knowledge

The sun is probably the closest thing we’ll ever have to a true Eldritch Abomination. Hear me out here-

Older than recorded history; was here longer than any of us and will be here long after we leave. Has a finite beginning and end but is still incomprehensibly ancient

Burns itself into your vision instantly and can blind you if you look for too long

Further prolonged exposure can cause cancerous growths

Non-humanoid shape floating through space; colossal flaming tentacles angrily lash out on occasion

Sort of just appeared one day and is now surrounded by the corpses of its stillborn children

People used to sacrifice other people to appease it

Pretty sure it screams at us sometimes
