"How did you know?", she inquired as her fingers went through every single strand of hair in lack of a comb. Small tangles, dirt that got stuck in the red-dyed tresses, all removed by her careful fingers. She cringed a few times whenever an overly quick motion ended up hurting. Jane shook her head when 'Idran' asks whether she was finished or not. "No, it takes time. Are you in a hurry?" Right now, a moment to sit down and reconsider the future course of action sounded like a good plan... unless her odd companion had one of his own. Her eyes narrowed.
She dropped the half-finished braid and rose from her chair, sloppily twisted it round the remaining, open hair in replacement of a ribbon. "Let's go... we should look for a good place to rest for the night." One that could easily be defended, and preferably not reached by draugr as easily. A higher position, maybe use the many debris scattered about to climb up somewhere. "Where do you usually rest?" She still did not trust the draugr in this place, did not want to rely on his word alone for her survival.
HE CARES NOTHING for what advice her mother gives her; he knows what he knows, and takes from others nothing at all. He DESIRES to show that in his expression, which flickers with annoyance and irritation at her speaking, but knows that he must not let on to anything he might FEEL. Every little expression he shows he monitors, makes sure that he gives nothing away, for to give something away would be to BETRAY himself and force the tables to turn upon him —— in this body, he cannot handle a physical fight nearly as well as he can in his other form. And BESIDES: he wishes to appear as amicable as he possibly can to her ( which is not very amicable at all ), if only to LEARN her ways so that he might better confine her here.
A dark mind he has, but he conceals it with an empty gaze, a shrug, a GLANCE towards hands as they move through her hair and braid it with careful precision. ❛ No; I am not hungry. I already had what I NEEDED before I was… informed that you were here. Perhaps not informed, but rather knew when you arrived. ❜ Yet he finds himself REACHING out for a goblet, pulling it towards him, tilting it to his lips to test. Even in this body, wine has never appealed to him; food in general LACK the something he needs. Only a small sip before he sets it back down, purses his lips, pulls his fingers away. ❛ Are you FINISHED? ❜

“She’s killing people for a cause, under the orders of an authority. Not for money, or for fun. It’s not the same as murder... which is still not like theft. Even if some people would have us all on the gallows altogether.” Laura knew that they were always in danger of being caught. Opportunities she never asked for- this life was a mess, and maybe, worst of all, the life that has seemed the worst one imaginable now seemed like the best on earth: marry, have children, tend to the household. “No, but that’s just.... that’s not the same.” Laura blushed and stared down at her hands on the table. Women did not bleed every single month [in best case] because they just killed someone. They did not see the blood of innocent prey.
“My mother is a soldier. She’s killing others on daily basis and is called a hero for it. I only steal now, and not even everything - just to have enough to have a drink every night. Sometimes more,” she admitted, “but that does not hurt people that much I would say. Being here gives me - and other propably as well - a lot of opportunities, while she gets them on battlefield. Everyone has a place they think they belong to.”
Except for her. If Laura did not asked for help, Claudia was ready to leave Riften the same day and never return. Well, now thief had a reason to stay at least for few more days.
She send Laura friendly smile. “I had problems with seeing blood too. But every women had seen it more in their lifetime than men. You’ll get used to it, if you want to be the hunter.”

TO FIGHT —— NOT at all something he had intended to do for her. No, it had been a more different goal for him: he is against HER, against everything for which she stands, for she is the one who fights for her brother: the Dragonborn. He should be FIGHTING against her, not now at her side, defending her against the Deathlord who has found such trouble with her entire BEING. This one he had not been able to keep back: this one his commands had not somehow touched, and his mortal flesh had found it an even more DIFFICULT task to overcome. And he had fallen to this one —— a FOOLISH move, to think that he would be able to go against him with little more than his dagger and his Voice. Foolish that he had not THOUGHT she would be able to fell him soon afterwards ( foolish that he had still believed himself immortal in this PLACE ). There comes a pause, a sharp gasp, a fall back —— and then he feels her arms beneath him, catching him right before he HITS the cold dungeon floor. It is not an instant death: he has several seconds of anguish, of pain, scream ripped from strong CHORDS, one last instant in which he can see her face. It is blurred through tears of torture, but he can see her: properly SEE her. ❛ Dreh ni ——❜

Reblog as askmeme or just answer for your own entertainment- but please do remember to tag your answers as TES OCrp !
Do politics have a strong influence on your character’s daily life? Do they actively participate or is it merely something they sometimes talk about to people as a casual topic? Does your character follow political developments or are they pretty indifferent?
How well does your character know history? Are they particularly interested in time periods or regions [such as local history, national history, dwemer culture, Merethic era..] or do they only know some rough facts? Did they ever decide to pick up a book on this topic, ask someone who knows much about it or visited a historical site [such as the Fields of Kummu or the Ayleid Ruins] out of interest?
Did your character ever consider actively participating in politics, such as by joining any factions [eg. the Great Houses in Morrowind, military factions] or by spreading ideas of improvement and criticism on their governments to point out flaws?
According to your character, what is the most significant historical event they have been a contemporary witness to? In order to be a contemporary witness, do they think one must have been alive at that time [eg. an altmer living in Alinor during the Oblivion Crisis] or do they have to be directly involved [eg. participated in the final battle between the Stormcloaks and Imperial Forces]
Based on their experiences, does your character anticipate a positive future or do they expect negative development in politics and economy? Are there any particular events [eg. Stormcloak Victory or assassination of the emperor] they are afraid of because they think it will mean dark future perspectives?
Does your character tend to think everything used to be better when they were younger? Is this merely a feeling of childhood nostalgia or a very legitimate impression most people would objectively agree to? What kind of change in the past years [eg. abolition of slavery in Morrowind, ban of Talos worship] did they appreciate most, of which changes do they disapprove?
If your character were presented the principle ideas of democracy, communism and anarchy- what would they think? Would they think of one of those systems are particularly good, think they sound good but doomed to fail in practice, or do they think that everything should stay the way it is?
Is there any particular anecdote passed down from generation to generation in your character’s family? Alternatively, do they have any particular favourite anecdote someone has told them at one point or another?
According to your character- can politicians/high authorities be trusted, or do they feel left alone by those in power? Would your character complain about corruption or waste of tax money, or do they trust the leaders to know best what to do?

10. For Alina
What was your character’s biggest childhood dream? Did it change over the course of their progress towards adulthood, or did they continuously work towards a certain goal? If they did not reach it, do they have any regrets nowadays, such as not having put more effort into it, or wish they would have had the means to accomplish something?
Alina had pretty much limited ideas of what her options actually are- she merely wished to marry off well and leave Solstheim. This was actually what she wished for all the time, until she married Miraak. While no one could doubt that she was well off, she never got to leave Solstheim. However, she has no regrets about anything- true love is grander than the glamour of Bromjunaar, and she would ardently claim that she would rather spend a million years on solstheim with Miraak, rather than living a normal life with someone else in a nicer place than Solstheim.

7. Did they have a particular favourite place such as a quiet corner in a public library, a special place in the forest, a treehouse they built with friends? Did they go there to calm down, when they were upset, or just to have fun? Up to what age did they go to such a favourite place? [[For Laura]]
Laura used to love the woods near the village’s mill. She never wandered deep, since she was an easily frightened child, but she loved to sit in the sun, under a tree, and read or daydream of pick flowers along the border of the forest. Actually, even as an adult, she still seeks solace in nature and solitude, although now in the forests outside Riften, rather than near her parent’s farm

3 for them all?
Was your character afraid of growing up or did they always try to appear as mature for their age? What did they think of adults- figures of authority who are a source of shelter, inspiration and comfort or annoying people to challenge, or even intimidating and a reason to be wary, if not even afraid?
Jane always acted like a normal girl her age- with so much focus put on her parent’s plans for the future, growing up was more or less a daily part of her life. Only when she got into that particular age when girls start developing into women did she try to appear more mature than she is- she had, like most girls, a playful phase of wanting to appear as adult as possible and wishing to please the grown-ups and be one of them. Michael felt most comfortable around adults, since it was easy for him to please them and he enjoyed their positive attention very much. For this, he often acted with great maturity, and tried to prove it whenever he could. He never got along very well with children his age when he was younger, and preferred the company of adults [or rather, preferred the praise he would receive occasionally] Laura always felt nervous about growing up because she had a very set idea of how things had to be- the moment she realized her adult life would not be like her favourite stories of princesses, she started to grow afraid of being an adult, because she thinks that her mother’s life [children, household, tending to the farm] was about the most atrocious fate in the world. Little did she know. Lucian did not particularly try to appear more mature, but he tended to be ahead of his peers anyways. He tended to be wary of adults, and preferred to stick to the people he knew. Alina always wished to be seen as all grown-up and mature. While very sociable and getting along well with the other children around her, she loved the company of adults too, especially foreigners who only visited Solstheim. Nothing intrigued her more than stories of whatever happened on the mainland, and she might have been too trusting for her own good, at times.

2, 6, 9?
Did your character have a favourite toy? Would it let others play with their toys or did they always keep everything for themselves? Was there anything they really wanted to have, but never got for some reason?
Alina’s favourite toy was a porcelain doll her uncle brought her after a visit on Bromjunaar. It had a very beautiful silk dress, and had actual soft hair, and it was of a much better quality than all the other toys on Solstheim, and so she really adored and cherished that doll, even long after she stopped playing with dolls. That one, she did not share ever. However, other than that, she was pretty alright with playing Tea party with all of her stuffed animals, dolls and her friends who would bring their toys too.
How did your character usually spend their free time? Helping parents, playing with friends, exploring the proximity? Did they have leisure time or did they wish they had more time to do things they enjoy, rather than things they had to for whatever reason?
Lucian wasn’t the adventuring type, and no one would ever have suspected that he, out of all people, would end up as high-ranking Legion officer. He spent most of his time reading books, with a very particular preference for nonfiction. He would find himself a comfortable place and read whatever he found and ask his father for help if he did not quite understand something. Since his parents were well off, he did not need to help much with chores.
What kind of education did your character receive during their younger years? Were these lessons that are still of use for them today, or would they recommend their younger self to learn other things? Did your character enjoy learning? What kind of environment did they have- private tutoring by parents or teachers, surrounded by friends and other children their age, learning by watching adults or just by practicing on their own until they were good at it?
Jane was supposed to be the perfect little heir to her father’s business, a good wife and a shining member of Cyrodiil’s high society, until she was deemed incapable of keeping up with these high expectations and replaced by her brother in the position of ‘kid who has to deal with overly high expectations’.Until the age of fifteen, she received all educations worthy of a young noblewoman - business, literature, arithmetics, sewing, history, dancing. She had either private lessons or lessons together with a few friends, especially when it comes to dancing, which was the only thing she was really good at. While Jane would not say that her education has been useless, because it certainly was not, she wishes that her parents would have taught her more practical things, such as cooking, restoration and other skills that no one expected her to ever need in her entire life. She was not bad at the lessons, yet everyone could tell that she did not enjoy it, and her results started going downhill once she gave up on trying her best to please her parents.

2, for Jane and Michael
Did your character have a favourite toy? Would it let others play with their toys or did they always keep everything for themselves? Was there anything they really wanted to have, but never got for some reason?
Michael and Jane had the privilege of having parents with the means to get them pretty much anything they wanted- usually, they had everything any child their age could want, and often did not even play with their toys because they lost interest too quickly.Jane’s favourite toy was a wooden sword, given to her by her uncle, after she said she didn’t want to go play with her dolls instead of listening to him talking about his experiences in the war. Other than that, she usually was fairly willing to share since she was used to playing with other children. Michael, however, never really enjoyed sharing, and still does not. While he always got bored of his toys quickly, he did not like seeing others play with them, and always wanted to play with Jane’s toys simply because they were hers. Since everyone gifted him wooden swords, toy soldiers and other things he is not really interested in, Michael did not really have a favourite toy, unless you count his cat.
