The Advantages of a Custom Made Bow Tie

Fortunately, we are all different. We are of different height and weight. We have different neck sizes. Our heads have different shapes. And of course, we had different tastes. It would be terribly boring if we all looked the same.

When you purchase a bow tie, you should carefully consider all the above factors and make sure that you buy a bow tie that fits your body and style. However, stores rarely provided you with those possibility. To get the right bow tie, you should have it custom made.

Don’t worry if you are not sure what the difference is between a butterfly and a batwing or if you cannot tell the difference between silk and wool, we are here to guide you to the process. Our experts will help you make the right decisions.

PRE-TIED / SELF - TIED

Probably the first thing you should decide is if you want your bow tie to be self-tied or pre-tied. If you don’t know how to tie a bow, and you don’t have time to learn, then you should obviously go with a pre-tied. However, you might also want to consider a pre-tied bow if you are looking for a specific design. Below are two examples of bow tie designs that must be pre-tied

The problem with most pre-tied bow ties is that they look as if they are made for kids. That is not how we make ours. Thus, even if you decide to go with a pre-tied, we will make it look as if it has the charm of a self-tie bow.

STYLE

Bow ties come in a wide range of styles: Butterfly, Big Butterfly, Batwing, Diamond, etc. We will show you the different styles, and guide you through the process of decided the one that is best for you.

SIZE

When it comes to the size of a bow tie, you should consider the height, the vertical measurement, and the width, the horizontal measurement. The height of the bow tie is mostly a style decision. Below, to the left, is Roger Moore as James Bond in the 1970s. The era’s preferred style was a large butterfly, and it is a style you will still see today. To the right is Sean Connery as James Bond in the 1960s. The style of the era was slim batwing bow tie.

We can make either of these, and anything in between, and we can make them pre or self tied.

The width of a bow tie is to a large extent guided by the size of your head. The bow to the left is wider than the gentleman’s face, and thus it looks too big. The bow to the right is a good example of a bow with the right width. As you can see, the bow does not venture beyond the gentleman’s face.

FABRIC

Though a bow tie can be made of any fabric, the most common is silk. There are, however, a wide range of different silk fabrics, from grosgrain to Charmeuse. We will guide you through the process of selecting the right fabric.

For a more casual look, cotton might be a better choice. For winter, we would recommend wool.

Whatever fabric you end up selecting, we can guarantee that it is of the very highest quality. Each of our fabrics has been carefully selected.

MIX / MATCH FABRIC

When you custom make a bow tie, you have the chance to mix and match fabric. Below are two examples of self-tied bow ties with two different fabrics. We can also achieve this effect with a pre-tied bow.

COLOR

When you custom make a bow tie, you can get any color you want. We are able to match anything from your partner’s dress to a flower in a bouquet.

ADORNMENTS

For special events, or when you want to make a statement, we can add adornments to your bow tie. Above, you saw two examples of what we can do. But feel free bring in photos of what you want. The only limitation is your imagination.

EMBROIDERY

We are also able to embroider and / or print text on your bow tie. Please note that when we embroider bow ties we do it before we sew the two sides together. This way you will only see the good side of the embroidery and not the bad side, with loose hanging threads.

CUSTOM DESIGN FABRIC

We are able to first design a fabric and then to either print it or weave it. Thus, if you need a specific pattern / color or if you want a bow tie with your logo on it —- we can make it happen. We do not have a minimum order, and thus we can make one or one thousand.
