    WHAT ♡ nerve. you’d think a heartfelt apology would be better delivered. but mettaton’s scowl is followed up by cries of “HE’S RIGHT, HE’S RIGHT!”-- and his conscience be damned, the ghoul’s words ring reluctantly true. what an indulgent comeuppance this man gets to witness. watching mettaton simmer. burn. there’s bound to be some sort of inverse proportion to how much he himself is suffering. 

♥ — “That is what I get,” he mumbles, mustering the mettle to take another shot. does he wish he had the sass in him to make even the slightest quip. but a true sportsman accepts defeat. and maybe if he concedes, he’ll get left alone to choke on the weight of the battle in peace. 

“Call this ‘payback’” Tatara mocks the robot, making arecall to their last conversation. He lifts the drone with his kagune theneffortlessly hurling it towards an incoming group of the same pests, knockingthem over like bowling pins.

Having missed this level of power, the Aogiri ghoul has beengoing on a rampage, or at least the equivalent of one in terms of his style offighting. He is not as pro-active when it comes to showing his “enthusiasm” inbattles, often acting passively compared to the other executives of his group.But through his passive fighting style, he can be considered ruthless, thesilent killer type as one may say.

Killing with no reluctance whilst maintaining that heartlessdemeanor, it’s some of the factors that creates his reputation as one of thefeared members of the Aogiri, and it’s the former that he notices the otherlacking.

“You know, hesitation does not benefit anyone in battle. ButI suppose that’s what you get from spending time with humans.”

♥ — “Fortunately for you, darling.”

it takes a few more cautious looks cast upward to cement his trust. as citizens of hive city, they’ve seen weirder-- the place takes pride on its intimacy with the UNUSUAL. like moths to the flame, what he seeks gathers in the sky, settling together, becoming a SINGLE ENTITY looking down upon them. he hears the faintest whispers, the ghosts of what was once said now uttered; it’s only slightly easier to dismiss their sentiments. 

they are unmistakably the city’s beloved npcs. and the man before him is not one. mettaton owes him a good and proper apology. 

♥ — “Terribly sorry for jumping to conclusions,” he says. “I must’ve made things so much harder for you. Words just aren’t enough to convince anyone anymore! You need LIGHTS! CAMERAS! ACTION! Get me, hon?”

Ichigo slidbackwards; the force from that last drop-kick ruffling his short hair.  His wooden sword was doing nothing againstthe steel hide of his opponent, and while he was avoiding Mettaton’s flashy, telegraphedattacks so far…

There was a deepcrack along the wood of his sword from where it had caught an earlier kick.

Butthen Mettaton stopped.

Ichigokept his blade up defensively and his gaze was hard.  Despite the inexplicable vanishing of almosteveryone around them, he remained focused on Mettaton.

“…You believe me now, then.”

    THOSE ♡ rewards are as good as his.

    that’s what he’d thought, at least, when he heard the announcements. their full powers unlocked, a rare blessing almost unheard of (though he’d caught rumors of the generosity being SPORADIC), shed light on a chance to explore the mysterious form he’d suddenly acquired. with a body worthy of his previous acting role-- a LITERAL KILLING MACHINE-- within him pulsated power. drive. determination. the incentive to request this ability under the guise of ignorance, only to catch those scientists by surprise.

    but god did he falter. there no warnings that this fight would make him just as anxious as the others. he was finally freed of fighting those nasty humans. now he’s forced to deal with something far WORSE, weighing on his shoulders like his heavy, hanging heart. “die!” how the voices stung.

    he manages to scream them into submission, drown them out of his head; his blaster goes off and completely annihilates the target. finally. his FIRST KILL.

    he’s just about to muster another when someone steals his kill.

♥ --- “Sweetie, who the hell are you?”

    WHY ♡ won’t he just die already?!

♥ --- “You can’t run from me, darling,” he says, dropping a kick in an attempt to connect to his shoulder. “I saw what you did. You aren’t gonna get away with it that easy!”

    but as if saved by the bell, a voice rings out in the near distance. words first undecipherable, save for a few familiar-- whoopsie, for instance-- slowly become more coherent, and slowly bring out the “o” shape in his mouth. as the last of the NPCs around them fade into nothingness, the man he’s fighting remains. 

    turns out he wasn’t one of those weaponized humans trying to kill people for fun after all. WHOOPSIE.

♥ --- “... Oh. No. This is awkward.”

    cue the flickering horror of what he’d seen bill cipher do, followed by the tight grip of fear where his heart would be if he had one. but their visit is short and their welcome short-lived-- because he understands why bill did it. in a reclamation of RIGHTS, in a disregard to mankind mimicking its treatment to monsters like bill and him. one deal, and he could take back from the world what he deserved. one deal, and they could one up this mediocre performance and put on a real good SHOW.
