Shinsouban Heart Progress (Added Linux and Android support)

The Shinsouban Heart project is a fan port of Shinsouban Heart no Kuni no Alice. The aim of the project is to make the game more accessible to play on modern hardware. Currently supported platforms are Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android! (no iOS due to Apple’s restrictions)

All platforms have a language select so you can choose to play the game in English or Japanese. English is only fully translated up route selection which is at the end of Opening 3. Most of the translation is from the Anniversary fan patch, but some sections have been machine translated and manually edited to fill the gaps where content has been added.

I created a tool to convert the translation for Anniversary to Shinsouban and it worked to bring over about 75% of the lines. Shinsouban has some new events and has made some text modifications to old ones so I’m not sure if any more of the translation can be converted automatically.

(Spoiler!)Choosing Routes in the Future

Many people asked about how and when they are going to choose routes so I made a post about this to explain better. Beware of spoilers.

This is the beginning of chapter 19. In chapter 19 we finally get to choose routes. The red clock is Victor’s route, purple butterfly is Lucien, yellow star is Kiro and blue ginkgo leaf is Gavin’s route. However, you need specific items called Light Puzzles to unlock a route.

You can get Light Puzzles by completing chapter 19 stages. The amount of Light Puzzles you get depends on the score. The higher the score, the more you get. 

I unlocked Lucien’s route first as a demonstration. Because I picked Lucien, I cannot go back and unlock Victor/Kiro/Gavin’s stage. I have to clear all Lucien stages in chapter 19 first. And you need 50 Light Puzzles to unlock each stage.

Once you choose a certain character’s route. You can only use the chosen character’s karmas and miscellaneous “other” karmas to clear the stage. You cannot use other LI’s karmas. It is the same mechanism as doing Footage Stages.

I’ve cleared all of Lucien’s stage and also the concluding/emerging stage 19-3. Now I have an option to go on to the next chapter…

Or gather up some more Light Puzzles to unlock another route! My choice this time is Kiro, now I need to gather more puzzles to unlock Kiro’s stage, and I can only use Kiro’s karmas to clear them. After I am done, I am able to unlock Gavin or Victor’s route using puzzles.

This is what the game looks like after you’ve completed all the routes. Who or how many you choose doesn’t affect the future plot or the gameplay in any way so feel free to go full harem with the boys.
