A glimpse on “what is love” through films.
Hello readers, I’m glad you thought to give this topic a read; I hope you will enjoy a short escape to my lalaland!
So, being a movie buff and an empath at the same time, I get so engrossed in movies that I feel every bit of emotions, which the character is going through. Since, I had watched a lot of romantic movies out of curiosity to find the meaning of true love, and I’m not embarrassed about believing in miracles by the universe, because I think am a person who always wanders in my own dreamland…so coming to the point, well…there is no straight answer here about “what is love” yes, but it doesn’t mean you won’t get an answer for “The most cherished question in this world” which has got so many different responses, still we get lost in these various thoughtful conclusions, because many of us didn’t relate to those responses. So, here I am trying my best to give you’ll from my knowledge from movies and real life to tell you it’s so relating that movies are made from the real circumstances and experiences and they are real emotions which we are watching and feeling it. Our Filmmakers are embracing the emotion which makes some scenes “eye captivating for audience!”
For example, remember the memorable scene in the movie “Titanic” when Jack and Rose were standing on edge of the titanic ship, at that moment when they realised they truly fell in love with each other and most of us can’t deny if you had watched the film, this scene always comes in our mind when we hear the word “Titanic”.
That’s the power of emotions, when they are portrayed in films effectively.
Movie- Titanic
Scene- when Jack and Rose fell in love.
Let me ask you a question, while watching a movie did you ever observed some scenes, which makes you overwhelm, that it literally tears you down!
Don't you think? Emotions are so beautiful; it can unlock the unseen potential within you. You just have to tug at your heartstrings. Emotions can be painful or delighting experience by considering the fact, it depends upon how we take and use it in action productively. If you notice these things like watching a movie, listening a song, looking at art, music you listen too, you see so many emotions flowing in front of you. Hate, love, sadness, happiness everything! I'm astonished by this powerful soothing energy of emotions. I want to feel everything! Because am curious to know how it feels! Feeling is thrilling! So I don't want to say no to it.
Thinking about how art, music, cinema and literature as comforted me in difficult times I really owe my happiness to the people who are dedicated to their crafts.
Movies have this power to transport you to a different location and time, without even moving your couch that's the beauty of getting engrossed in the film scenes, isn’t it?
This reminds me about uses and gratification theory, this talks about how we use media to gratify our needs.
Personally from my perspective how media has used to convey and gratify our curiosity to know more about love how we have used media for answers and how media has conveyed us through different forms such as movies, songs, art etc.
Quotes which pops in my mind while talking about love, the quote from the movie -Walk to remember -“Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, trusting, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.”
So, let me tell you what happens to your body when you fall in love!
Simply thinking about the entity of your affections is enough to trigger dopamine and oxytocin which makes you feel excited to see them and when you actually seen them it increases. These are the chemicals in your brain which reacts and make you feel these intense attachment and pleasure.
This is why you probably feel comfortable and relaxed in the company of the partner,These feelings might seem even stronger after kissing, touching or sex. That’s oxytocin makes it work. It’s also called as “love hormone”
Still, when you fall in love with someone, it’s normal for them to be the main thing running on your mind.
because your body responds to the stress of love by producing norepinephrine and adrenaline, the same hormones your body releases when you face danger crisis.
These hormones can cause actions like fluttery feeling in your stomach which is also called as “Butterflies” feelings!
My suggestion on realistic movies about "love" is mentioned below:
1. Before triology
2. 500 days of summer
And don’t be surprised because i didn’t mentioned any review for the suggested movies. Well, there is reason for this purpose. because you will get your relateable conclusion from your perception on “what is love”.
So what are you waiting for? if you haven’t watched it, then hurry up grab your popcorn and enjoy the movie!
