It is important for us to keep in mind that our digital footprint exists; it is etched in our social media activity and can be difficult to erase. As they say, “once it’s on the internet, it’s there forever.” Therefore, in order for us to be responsible internet citizens, we must observe proper netiquette. Following proper netiquette helps us maintain our relationships with people, uphold the good image we have in the real world, and overall assists us in being good and responsible netizens. Overall, maintaining proper netiquette is crucial in the digital age to maintain our clean digital footprint, uphold our reputation, preserve relationships, and be responsible citizens of the internet.

Giving the rightful credit to the original creator of any resource we use should be our paramount concern, especially in academia. We should always bear in mind that giving appropriate credit is a sign of respect to the original creator. Our ignorance should also not be used as an excuse for our failure to give credit, as using a resource that is not ours without credit can be a legal and ethical violation. In our research, learning evidences, and school tasks, giving the right credit must always be our paramount concern.
