even if covid wasn't around (which it still very much is) i cannot imagine not wearing a mask especially at this time of year. i was in a store earlier and the place was absolutely packed because of christmas shoppers and on top of that its cold and flu season. like people could barely move because of how busy it was and i was the only one there not completely raw dogging that air. crazy

I wonder if any other Covid cautious ppl have seen the ringworm episode of Abbott elementary this season, but I kinda hated the end. Like you can clearly see the parallels but by the end the germaphobe character was crazy??

And I was genuinely enjoying it for a bit. But like somehow the message was, there’s an exact moderate level of “caution” that is acceptable and any more or less is “crazy”

Also, ringworm is not that chill, esp for immunocompromised ppl. But even for a healthy person, the level of mitigation you need to go through is immense. You need to wash your clothes and sheets over and over or you risk reinfecting yourself bc you don’t build immune memory with this kind of infection.

Idk I’m just extremely annoyed that there was a public health episode and all it did was enforce ineffective mitigation strategies and ostracize ppl who have genuine fears about /preventable/ infectious disease.

i need everyone to know that community is what will save us all in every single way imaginable. you forming a bond with your neighbour or coworker might help them move house or feel less alone or have the courage to leave an unhealthy living environment. you helping a stranger might provide them with hope. in turn, being able to lean on your community in times of need will save you. your broader bonds with your community are the revolution we need. our society seeks to divide and separate us in so many ways but we are all so much more united in our struggles and joys than you are made to believe. we need to hold onto each other very tightly.
