pipcrr:
it’s, perhaps, a miracle she’s even awake given how long her shift at neon the night prior had stretched. even if it’s only temporarily, pip’s found her muse and it evaporated the grey haze that had been overhanging her the past few weeks. with her vibrancy returned, encores flowed like the alcohol from the tap where kelsey had been serving (and consuming from what pip could see) and though she loved being on her groove and putting in that overtime, it exhausted her, to say the least. all she wants now is to refuel with some artificial energy and then maybe spend the morning at the diner, listening to hadley croon his little heart out. another thing her burst of inspiration has revived is her romantic tendencies and though a little too late to enjoy the holiday, she’s out to overload her lover with affection and pip-time to make up for her recent melancholy.
one part of operation: spoil hadley is evidently doubling up the size of her coffee order so that haddy could enjoy something sweet and cool before he went on. she makes sure to get something low in dairy (she’s heard it doesn’t really affect the vocal chords but she’s still not about to take the chance with hadley’s precious instrument), icy and sweet. it looks so good, in fact, that pip almost regrets not getting one herself but her needs were stronger and though her drink is caramel flavored, it’s mostly to drown out the strength of the double espresso. she’s buzzing, having time to kill at the shop while she waits for hadley to text her back. only problem is there doesn’t seem to be a spot for her to claim as her own. pip’s just about to frown – not a good way to keep up morale – when she spots her coworker who kindly offers a seat. “you might be willing?” pip mock pouts, already sinking down into the chair in question. “surely you’d always find room for little old me!” at least she’s found someone who shares the bags under her eyes. it would seem great minds think alike. “thanks, kels.”
Kelsey had worked the night before and drank after, so coffee was more then a necessity this morning. It usually was after a night of work, the drinking afterward was just an added bonus. Though she was sure anyone who worked in the club understood that very well. It was hard not to drink after work, it was like you were wired from the hustle of it all, and drank until you crashed. It was becoming a routine for Kelsey and for the most part she thought it was working pretty well.
Kelsey was willing to share her table, she felt to bad watching anyone wondering around awkwardly looking for a seat in the busy dinner. It just so happened it was someone she worked with that made her even more willing to share her table. She laughed a little at her pouting, “Well I mean I don’t just share my table with just anyone Pip!” She teased, “But I suppose for you I’ll make an exception..” She continued. “Of course Pip, I do always have room for you.” She admitted truthfully of her co-worker. She’d probably extend the same courtesy to anyone who might need it, but especially for someone she worked with and saw on a regular basis.
#pipcrr#yeah that makes sense if they both work at the club they would def know each other#but we could for sure flush out some stuff in IM#sending you a message now..

smoothindecision:
Days off from Neon mean that she gets a full eight hours of sleep, but it also means that she wakes up at five in the morning to get ready for a run, and then runs for about a hour to a hour and a half depending on how she’s feeling that morning. Then she’s back home to shower before breakfast and getting ready to start the rest of her day. She’s been at it since about five-thirty this morning, pressing the snooze button twice this morning because she was just too tired. That was fine, she still spent the same amount of time running, got home and continued her usual routine. Her days off also meant a little bit of relaxation — she doesn’t want to burn out, sometimes she already pushes herself a little bit more than she probably should in the first place.
With her tea latte in her hands, she walks around a group of people that look like they should be in school right now, to look for a table. She usually doesn’t frequent this shop as much as the rest of people in Brighton, seeing as she usually sticks to water and the occasional coffee if she’s really exhausted. A small noise of disappointment sounds in the back of her throat as she notices that there aren’t any places to sit down. Addison shrugs her shoulders ready to turn around and leave when she hears a familiar voice from her left. “Kel-..” The blonde turns in the direction of her voice, a smile finding it’s way onto her face. “Well I’d hope you’d be wiling to share your table.” Her smile turns into a pout for a moment, before letting a small laugh follow it. Carefully she makes her way toward the table, and sits down in the chair, keeping the cup in her hands, but resting in her lap. “Are they usually this busy?”
Kelsey usually was usually exhausted after a shift at Neon or after a night of drinking. Combine the two and she might as well hook her coffee up in a IV. Kelsey had never really been one to slow down. She liked to be out all night and out the next day. She wasn’t really sure what kept her running other then coffee but she never really took the time to think about it. She didn’t take that many nights off from the Neon, partly cause she needed the money and partly cause it meant she could avoid home and her problems for a little bit longer.
Kelsey grinned waiting for her friend to find where she was and turn to face her. A laugh bubbling from her lips at her comment, “Well I mean theres always a chance if I let you sit at my table that you might try drag me out to like hot yoga or on a run or something crazy.” She teased as Addy joined her at her table. Kelsey looked around at the crowded coffee shop shaking her head, “No, I was shocked when I got in here. I barely got myself a table.”

paintpoppys:
This is not a new occurrence for Oliver, he frequents the coffee shops of Brighton just about every single day to buy cups of tea all throughout the day. In fact the people that work there probably know what his name and order is as soon as he walks into the place. Most of the time he doesn’t even have to actually vocalize his order, just a smile and a big tip in the jar before he moves down to the other end of the counter. Which is exactly what happens today when he slips through the door as someone is walking out, he smiles at the women at the counter and pulls the correct amount of money for his tea and drops a good amount into the tip jar before walking to the end of the counter. It takes zero amount of time for the beverage to be finished ( a tea bag and hot water, of course ) and he’s mixing in a package of sugar and a dash of milk.
Oliver has a hour or so before he has to be at work, and at this point sitting at the coffee shop is probably a better idea than heading back toward his flat, considering it’s in the opposite direction. His eyes scan the coffee shop, looking for an empty seat to settle into and relax for a little while. It feels like there are a lot more people populating the shop than usual, which leaves him standing in the middle of the room looking around. A woman’s voice causes his head to flip in it’s direction, eyeing the empty seat at her table. Usually Oliver doesn’t make it a habit of sitting at tables with people he doesn’t know but it’s either than or head back home before work. “Thank you.” He plasters a smile on his face as he sits down in the empty chair. Oliver holds the cup in both hands, one of his legs crossed over the opposite knee. “Pretty busy in here today.”
Kelsey was no stranger to coffee shops, being a bit caffeine addict meant she spent a fair amount of time buying coffee. She also quite enjoyed having her coffee somewhere other then home, it wasn’t that she didn’t love her mom but sometimes she really just needed her space and the a coffee shop with a large cup of coffee in her hand was the perfect place to do it. Though today was a little different with how busy the shop seemed to be, she didn’t mind so long as she had somewhere to sit but it was a little harder to think in a crowd like this.
Kelsey hadn’t really planned on sharing the table with someone she didn’t know, but when she saw them looking for a table just as she had moments ago she decided what the hell, and offered up half her table. It seemed like the nice thing to do, besides it wasn’t like she could get lost in her own thoughts in this place. She smiled back at the boy as he took the seat across from her, sliding her coffee and plate out of the way so he could sit his cup down if he needed too. “Oh its no problem,” She replied, “Its a little crazier then normal in here. I practically had to race to get this table, and if you knew me you would be very impressed by that cause I’m not the athletic type.” She laughed a little at herself.

ohhhcharlie:
Originally, Charlie was supposed to accompany her mum on a trip to Cambridge to pay a visit to her grandmother, who had recently been in and out of the hospital with respiratory issues. Her grandmother had caught an awfully bad case of pneumonia shortly after Christmas and had even spent a couple days in the hospital. While the woman had made a strong recovery, the remnants of inflammation still made it hard on the poor woman’s body, especially because her cough didn’t seem to resolve. Mum had went to visit her weeks before when Charlie’s grandmother was in the hospital, but the trip scheduled for this week was mostly to check in and offer any help wherever possible. Although Charlie didn’t have the closest relationship with her maternal grandmother, she still appreciated her, and besides, Cambridge was always a beautiful city to visit. Thus, she and her mum had planned the trip weeks before to give Charlie enough time to give the diner a notice in the scheduling.
And then in a funny turn of events, her mum became ill, mostly likely the flu her brother had a week or so before. Ultimately, Charlie was left with no trip, no work, and a sick mum, who she made sure to keep stocked with peppermint tea and cool washcloths. After she had spent the entire yesterday tending to her mum’s needs, Charlie decided to treat herself to a couple hours at Neon and have maybe a couple of drinks. Then, a couple turned into a couple more, and Charlie soon found herself making the trip back home at what had to be at least three am, if not later. Luckily, she had been somewhat sober enough to down two full glasses of water and eat enough slices of bread to temper out the hangover she would have the next morning. While the world wasn’t exactly spinning, she did have a headache, aching muscles, and an uncomfortably dry mouth. It was what eventually led her to the coffee shop that seemed to be filled with the entirety Brighton, all recovering from a night of drinking perhaps. Though in all likelihood, it was just a popular coffee place.
After hopelessly searching her surroundings for at least one open table, she heard someone call out to her, offering a free spot. Charlie turned to find the direction of the voice, instantly recognizing the familiar face. She grinned before heading over. “Fancy meeting you here. It seems we do think alike,” she greeted before pulling back the chair and sitting down. She set her medium cup of black coffee on the table (black coffee being the only type she could stand after a night of drinking) along with a bagel and tub of cream cheese. “Also, look, no bloodshot eyes,” she added, gesturing, “Dare I say I’m slowly becoming an accomplished drinker.” She giggled slightly as she began to spread cream cheese on her bagel. “What about you? I still have no idea how you even worked a shift beforehand.”
Kelsey was no stranger to hangovers, she doubted if anyone was surprised seeing her drinking gallons of coffee like it she was breathing air with her sunglass on to protect her eyes from the horribly bright sun - even if it wasn’t that bright out. Today was no different as she sat drinking the first of many coffees that she would inevitably have through out the day. Her headache was slowly ebbing away even with all the noise surrounding her by the busy coffee shop. She was just happy that she found a spot to sit and drink her coffee.
She hadn’t really been paying attention but it didn’t take her long to recognize the back of the blonde head. It hadn’t been that long since the two had gone their separate ways to crash for the night.. or probably more accurately the morning. She figured Charlie was probably in a very similar state as herself, hungover and in desperate need of some coffee as pick me up. Which was probably how they both ended up here.
She smiled when she saw her friend, immediately making room at her table for her as she made her way over. “Well coffee is very essential after a night o drinking.” She laughed, but laughed even more at Charlie’s comment about her eyes. “Is it a good thing to say I’m very proud of you? Or is it bad to encourage your drinking habits?” She asked quirking an eyebrow before taking a sip of her coffee. “Im very impressive when it comes to drinking, especially after work. Cause thats when you need a drink most. However I’m 100% blaming you for last night and this mornings hangover.” She teased, though she was pretty sure she was the one who suggested tequila shots.

swamfree:
Nine times out of ten, if Winter was going to leave the house for anywhere other than work, he found himself at Blue Moon Diner. That particular morning was apparently the outlier. The coffee shop was new to him in a way most of Brighton had become familiar. Something buried itself in his chest at the memory of when he had first moved there, when everything had been new and he had been mourning. Distracted, he didn’t noticed the thrush of people buzzing around; the lack of private seating that had driven him to frequent the diner instead of normal coffee shops in the first place. By the time he had come out of the line, earl grey in hand, Winter was sure he’d have to leave and seek solace elsewhere. His legs immediately protested the idea, already bitterly exhausted from the extra two blocks of walking it took to get here.
He almost didn’t catch her offer and then almost didn’t realize it was for him. Cheeks painted cherry blossom pink, he flashed his default warmest smile to hide the hesitation in the way he stepped toward her table. “I promise not to make a peep?” he bargained, hand hovering over the back of the chair opposite the stranger’s.
If she had had the option she probably would have stayed home to cure her hangover but as the case was, that wasn’t an option. Besides she really didn’t mind getting out of the house before anyone else was up. She wasn’t particularly in the mood to deal with her mom or her new beau. Especially without coffee or alcohol in her system. It was busy and loud in the dinner but the coffee already seemed to be helping, she just needed about 10 more cups to really get her day going. Though looking at how busy it was in here it would probably be a bit rude to camp out at this table for too long.
It wasn’t like she needed someone to come sit with her, she just thought it would be a nice offer to someone who might not ind a set otherwise. But still as soon as he smiled, her own smile grew on her lips as well. “You are more then welcome to make a peep.” She responded, “All you’ll be interrupting is my odd addiction to the game candy crush. But if you just want to enjoy your coffee in peace thats totally okay too.”

hadlcy:
Hadley is exhausted. It’s not an atypical feeling for him to struggle with, the perpetual heaviness of his eyelids something he’s grown accustomed to, and the constant battle he wages with the use of caffeine and, more recently, a prescription, is a familiar one. Today the usual place he walks by on his way to work – he’s got loads of other things to do as well, which makes him wince to himself occasionally when his mind anxiously drifts to it – is packed full, and when he gets his order of coffee, the way his gaze awkwardly drifts about the room makes it evident how uncomfortable he is. He doesn’t mind crowds, it’s just that he can’t seem to find a place to sit, and he doesn’t wanna impose himself on anyone. He’s still got about an hour and a half before he needs to be in, and he’d allotted at least forty-five minutes of that window to be spent here.
Adjusting the bag over his shoulder that holds his laptop and his change of clothes, Hadley finds himself picking his way between the tables, hoping against all hope that a closer look might turn up something he’s looking for. What he doesn’t expect is to hear someone’s voice calling out, and for a moment, he isn’t sure that they’re addressing him. The coffee in his hand is quite hot, and he has to cast his eyes around again, this time trying to sort out who is speaking, and once he does, if they’re speaking to him. It doesn’t take very long for him to catch sight of a face turned towards him, a comely girl with headphones over her shoulders who evidently is taking pity on him. A little bit of tension eases from his chest, and he offers her a tentative smile, altering his course to approach the empty seat at her table. “Cheers for rescuing me.” He says once he’s close enough to not have to raise his voice, expression going sheepish. “I was drowning out there.”
Kelsey normally wouldn’t leave the house without drinking at least pot off coffee, it was safe to say she was a caffeine addict. Of course with her new unwanted roommate they were going through groceries faster then normal. It meant it was time for her to go to the store but that meant she was just enabling her moms boyfriend. With no coffee on her system thats exactly what landed her here. Kelsey was the kind of person who didn’t function without coffee, so standing there holding it without being able to sit and drink it was not a good start to her day. It was like the coffee gods were taking a little mercy on her this morning when that table had opened up and she had swiped it before anyone else had gotten the chance. So it seemed only fair that she pay it forward when she saw someone in the same predicament she was in not long ago.
The thought hadn’t even crossed her mind that it might be weird to have stranger offer you a seat at their table until she’d already spoken up. But the smile on his face and the fact that he was on his way to join her made her choose not to worry about it. “Oh no problem, I was just drowning out there a moment ago so I guess I felt your pain.” She laughed a little, sliding her stuff closer to herself so he would have room on the table. “Im not sure I’ve ever moved quite that fast without coffee in my system as I did when I saw this table open up.”

Kelsey had woken up slightly hungover from the night before, she had worked then stayed afterwards to drink. She wasn’t even sure what time she had gotten home at but she was pretty sure the sun had been coming up. All she need now was a large cup of coffee and something to eat, however when she opened her fridge it was empty. It was becoming a more regular thing since her moms new boyfriend had decided this was his new crash pad. She rolled her eyes slamming the fridge closed. She didn’t really feel like getting ready or leaving the house but she figured it was better then hanging around here all day. After Kelsey was dressed she headed straight to the nearest coffee shop with her head phones plugged in and drowning out the world around her.
She had carried her coffee and muffin through the place was pretty busy but she managed to grab a table for two just as a couple left. After playing a very intense round of candy crush, which she seriously needed to stop playing, she saw someone doing the same walk-through the place that she had done not long ago, but she wasn’t sure they were going to get quite as lucky as her. She decided to pull her head phones out, “Hey if you can’t find a spot I might be willing to share my table.”
