This talk about research can be applied everywhere!
While studying for his PhD in physics, Uri Alon thought he was a failure because all his research paths led to dead ends. But, with the help of improv theater, he came to realize that there could be joy in getting lost. A call for scientists to stop thinking of research as a direct line from question to answer, but as something more creative. It's a message that will resonate, no matter what your field.
*This talk was presented at an official TED conference.

The road trip called Life
Today, I had a very weird conversation with someone (who I don't really wanna name here). I say weird, because I was totally taken aback by it!
Now, this person is someone who I have known for quite some time and she is by far the most talented, joyful and energetic person I've come across.
She does freelance work and is doing quite well for herself, teaches kids singing, learning how to pay the piano, writes fantastic poetry and is loved by almost everyone she meets. Yet, she confessed to me today, that she doesn't think she's fulfilled her potential, and not in a good way!
Nobody I know, does so many things so well! Yet, she doesn't think she's not fulfilling her potential.
The reason behind this 'unhappiness' is that she's been comparing herself to her friends, from school, college and IIM who have chosen to concentrate on their careers while she chose to focus on her life.
I guess this is a classic case of the grass being greener on the other side, or rather, appearing to be greener.
To know and understand the definition of success is so important! And by success, I mean your own success. Its like they say, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'.
Live, love and enjoy! Isn't that the point of life?
Quoting Tim O'Reilly — 'Money is like gasoline during a road trip. You don't want to run out of gas on your trip, but you're not doing a tour of gas stations.'
How awesome is your road trip? Can you make it better? Start now!

Who is an entrepreneur?
There are tons, and I mean literally tons of posts that would attempt to answer this question for you. I say 'attempt' because not all of them succeed in really explaining who an entrepreneur is.
An entrepreneur is anyone who charts their own destiny. Anyone who makes lemonade when given lemons. Anyone who doesn't just keep following a path set by others, rather creates a new path for others to follow.
Check out the story of Kat Cole in the link provided below. She went from being a Hooter girl to being accepted in an MBA program (without a bachelors degree!) to becoming the President of Cinnabon, all by the age of 32. The writer very aptly says, 'While Cole isn’t the stereotypical entrepreneur, she is an entrepreneur in her own right – an entrepreneur of her own career'.
Break the stereotypes, create your own path and don't just follow someone else's trail.

Jose Mourinho is laughing at you
All Football fans who criticize him for playing negative or even '19th century Football', let me tell you, Jose Mourinho is laughing at you. Most of these people are just sour grapes, and he's been through enough to be least bit bothered.
You see, most managers & 'directors of football' would go on record to tell you that they want their teams to play 'attractive' Football. That they want to entertain the fans. But the truth is, with the kind of money that is involved in the game today Clubs cannot afford to lose out on things like Champions League Football. Winning trophies results in a surge in the Clubs' popularity abroad resulting in higher sponsorship dollars. Hence, all the top clubs want success. They want to win. It doesn't matter how.
Mourinho understands this perfectly. He is a winner. Always has been. As far as he, the club and a majority of the fans are concerned, successful Football is attractive Football.
