Video Premiere: Beachwood Coyotes Debut ‘Silence’

Beachwood Coyotes was created during a moment of clarity for lead singer/guitarist Jason Nott. The band he had played guitar in since age 16 had just broken up, and he suddenly faced an uncertain future. During a blurry-headed attempt to clear his mind, Nott decided to hike up the Beachwood Canyon trail to the iconic Hollywood sign, however before he could make it far, he was scared away by a group of coyotes. 

The next day Nott discovered that two bodies were found decapitated on that very same trail. Time of death? The exact same time those Beachwood coyotes scared him away.

Suddenly songs started pouring out of Nott. Years and years of relentless touring provided fertile subject matter for songs about the loneliness of life on the road and the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles. He immediately called his childhood friend and guitarist Al Curtis and Al jumped at the chance to re-unite. After bringing the hard-hitting rhythm section of bassist Drew Smith and drummer Bryan King on board, Beachwood Coyotes was born.

Yahoo Music is excited to premiere the band’s video for single “Silence,” for fans to get a taste of their sound.

Of the video, Nott explains: “Silence is about the stigma surrounding depression and suicidal thoughts. It’s something I’ve death with most of my life and they’re the most vulnerable lyrics I’ve ever written.”

Just another one to pass the time.

I never know how to start these things. My posts are so spread out that I often forget I have a tumblr, but now that I have a few more things going on in my life I figured I share because I'm just such a sharing person, right? Well it's been about 8 months since I started my new band, Beachwood Coyotes, this includes some of my best friends: Cody Root, Curtis Corwin, and Jesse Murakami. In that time we've written many songs, scrapped a few, recorded a few, and just 2 weeks ago finally played our first show at EL CID in Los Angeles. I've said this many times but I'm happy, like legitimately happy, and everything/everyone in my life is to thank for that. I feel I've grown as a songwriter, musician, and as a person. I was stuck in this weird rut for so long and now that I'm out of it I feel like a new human being. You have to get through that struggle to grow. I'm 22, still young, which means I still have plenty more to grow but for the first time in a long time I feel like I'm on the right path. Playing that first show a few weeks ago and receiving a few good responses from friends, families, and strangers justified what I've been doing for the last 8 months. I look forward to growing, learning more, and succeeding in what I love. With that being said, we're hitting the studio again in a few weeks. This time we're taking a trip out to Joshua Tree to get a little weird in the desert and squeeze out some new "jams." I'm especially excited this time around because we're much more confident in what we do now, watching this band grow has been like watching my non-existent child grow and it's kinda cool. I'm ready for the journey and I hope you'll be right there with us.
