Whose idea was the spit string?
How does one simply carry on with their day after this scene wraps?
How'd they get this to look so natural?
So many unknowns, but what I do know is, Michonne is the best Rick has ever had...in every way.

Sweet moments with Momma Michonne and Judith.
I bet Rick quietly observed many moments such as these, between his girls and thought how lucky he was finding Michonne and realized he wanted another child with her.

Favorite Moments from TWD: Everything Judith Grimes Represents (S2 - S11)
The intro to this round-up and other installments can be found here.
Oh man, oh man, oh man.
If someone were to say, "Hey girl, hey. Why are you so obsessed with this silly little show?", I would immediately answer, "The characters."
From the minute they showed up on my screen, Rick Grimes and Michonne Hawthorne bewitched me heart, mind, and soul, so it's no surprise that their daughter did the same. After 11 seasons and a constant revolving door of people written in and off this silly little show and all its spinoffs, Judith Grimes is at the top of my list as one of the most important characters in the entire TWDU.
Let's get into it.
The first time Judith was discussed was when Lori finally came clean about her affair and pregnancy and was (understandably) scared to have a baby in the apocalypse (S2 E6). But y'all. Rick fought for her from the very beginning. He saw all the hope and promise that she could bring. And, because we know he isn't a religious person, this wasn't him browbeating about the sanctity of life or being driven by a perspective that reflects current political discourse—he genuinely saw the possibility of ushering in future generations, regardless of the truth of her DNA and regardless of their apocalyptic reality.
Unfortunately Lori's fears about childbirth became a reality and it brought us one of the most iconic moments in the franchise. I go into detail about how the weight of it all broke Rick (click that link), but Judith helped bring him back by reminding him that he still had a future worth fighting for.
And then, of course, there's that moment with Michonne.
When we first met Michonne, she was (seemingly) very walled off—self-reliant, rigid, analytical, distrusting, etc.—but throughout it all, we had hints of a caring and kind individual. After all, she enters our screen saving Andrea, a perfect stranger. Then we find out she nursed Andrea back to health and considered her to be a friend (only to be betrayed for a warm bed, but that's neither here nor there). And then, after witnessing Glenn and Maggie getting abducted by Merle et al., she brings the formula to the prison. Having been on the run from Merle and his cronies herself, Michonne could have easily looked the other way, or she could have left the formula behind and gone to the prison empty-handed, but she made the trek with formula in hand so obviously there was more to this character than we had seen up to that point.
Thankfully, because this show is what it was, it didn't take long for us to see more.
In this scene, Beth basically said, "Hold this" and went off to get something. In so many ways, Judith was forced on Michonne and she had to accept her, despite every attempt not to. Up to this point, all throughout her time at the prison, Michonne basically ran away from the bébè whenever they were in the same space. Once she was forced to sit still (funny how she physically had to stay put due to an injury), she had no choice but to really look at the person she'd saved. And when she does? The way she's clinging to Judith isn't just a physical embrace—it's her clinging to what Judith represents: a reminder that life can still go on, even in the midst of pain and uncertainty.
At this point in the narrative we didn't have Michonne's full backstory, so while we could guess based on her reactions and looks, we didn't know with certainty that her son was killed while she was out on a run. We didn't know that the two walkers she had with her when she saved Andrea were her boyfriend and friend. We didn't know that before coming across Andrea she had been wandering around alone with her pain and (perceived) failures as her shadows. All we knew as we watched her break down was that something tragic had happened and that Judith was a salve for the wounds.
As the series continues, Michonne rightly credits Andrea, Rick, and Carl with bringing her back, but in this moment, Judith did, too. In this moment, the real Michonne—the nurturer, the believer—was allowed to live on. Judith did that.
In so many ways, having Judith be born into a world of walkers when there was truly no reason to believe there would be a semblance of living again was TWDU's way of saying "hey, things can be bad, but they could be good, too." She represented innocence, hope, and renewal at a time where the group had very few symbols to look to and even beyond her parents, Judith was a saving grace for so many:
She helped Tyrese realize that sometimes violence is necessary for self-preservation and protecting the innocent. She showed him the balance that so many characters—namely Morgan—were searching for.
She highlighted what could be possible for children in this world if you didn't reach them in time, specifically Lizzy because omg!!! Talk about children of the corn!!!
Speaking of children, she really gave Carl something to hold onto and a way to stay connected to Lori and the kind hearted person he was, even as the world got its hands on him.
She gave Glenn and Maggie reason to believe that the future they wanted with each other was possible, which then gave Abraham an example he could look at. (He and Sasha deserved that future, too).
She (and RJ) gave Daryl a sense of purpose (and a reason to stay with The Family) during the Commonwealth arc.
She saved the new people who ended up playing a crucial role in helping to overthrow the Miltons.
And—bringing it back to her parents and dipping into TOWL a little bit—she's the reason why Michonne goes searching for Rick which of course led to him coming home.
Someone sedate me!!!
I need to wrap this up, but this little girl is the reason why our faves are the way they are and she deserves everything in this world!!!! If they did a spinoff focused on her and the next generation, I wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't hate it at all.

This may be a controversial but I'm going to say it anyway, The Walking Dead is so empty without them
The franchise needs them but they don't need the franchise
They are literally the only thing that will get me watching the show again, my interest is practically non existent without them
These other spin offs aren't going to bring in the numbers, high praise, attention, interactions and huge success that TOWL has
Something that's not controversial at all is whatever Andy and Danai decide to do will be respected and I'll always be grateful to them for everything
But bringing back the Grimes will only be a positive thing for this franchise and TWD will be very lucky to have them
