What is the IoT, and why is it important?
Internet of things is going viral nowadays both in the workplace and outside of it. IoT has a great impact on our daily lives, it completely transforms the way we used to lives. IoT is increasing the growing topic in between the several vertical of the industries, but still many people not completely aware or realizing of the things they do is just because of IoT. From Traffic signal to automatically brewed coffee ready on your table before reaching home, these become possible by the IoT. Before going further, let’s discuss the basics of IoT?
What is the Internet of Things (IoT)?
IoT is an ecosystem which connected millions of devices through the internet. Those “connected” things are used to gather information, send information back, or both. IoT allows people and business to be connected more around the world and do the needful things and a higher level of work.
In simple words, we would say “IoT means taking all the things in the world and connecting them to the internet”. IoT adds a level of digital intelligence to the devices that would be otherwise dumb, enabling them to communicate in real-time without the interaction of humans.
IoT is more important in the world as it fills the gap between devices and humans and provides a complete solution to every problem in the world. In the earlier we had computers that knew everything -using data they gathered without any help from us – we would be able to track and count everything, and greatly reduce waste, and cost. We would know when things needed replacing, repairing or recalling, and whether they were fresh or past their best. But now it’s time to empower computers with their own means of gathering information, so they can see, hear and smell the world for themselves, in all its random glory. This is precisely what IoT platforms do for us. It enables devices/objects to observe, identify and understand a situation or the surroundings without being dependent on human help.

This is precisely what IoT platforms do for us. It enables devices/objects to observe, identify and understand a situation or the surroundings without being dependent on human help.
In the internet of things, all the things that are connected to the internet can be consider into three main categories:
Things that collect information and then send it.
Things that receive information and then act on it.
Things that do both.
All of three categories having their own benefits that feeds on each other.
How IoT works?
IoT aims to connect multiple devices at a time to the internet and thereby facilitating machine to machine and machine to human’s communications. IoT is not limited to a field but has an impact on many areas such as home automation, smart cities, transportations, retails and much more.
IoT works through the below main fundamentals components, which tell us how IoT works:
Sensors/devices: Sensors or devices helps to accumulate the data from the surrounding areas. All this information has their several degrees of complexity from a simple temperature monitoring sensor or a complex full video feed.
Connectivity: The collected data send to the cloud via a medium, sensors connected to the cloud through innumerable mediums of communication and transports such as cellular networks, satellite networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wide-area networks (WAN), low power wide area network and many more.
Data Processing: Once the data is accumulated and it gets to the cloud, the software performs processing on the acquired data.
User Interface: Depending on the IoT application and complexity of the system, the user may also be able to perform an action that may backfire and affect the system.
Let’s Finish it: With this blog, we learned that how IoT works and an entire IoT system. IoT is high on demand in the industries but most important to develop the right IoT app which helps in your business and generate more revenue.

What is blockchain?  Why is it so popular?
*A Blockchain originally block chain is a continously growing list of records called blocks which are linked and secured using cryptography. Each block typically contains a cryptogrphic hash of the previous block, a timestamp and transaction data Blockchains are secure by design and exemplify a distributed computing system with high Byzantine fault tolerance. Decentralized consensus has therefore been achieved with a blockchain. This makes blockchains potentially suitable for the recording of events, medical records and other records management activities, such as identity management, transaction processing and voting
Working of Blockchain Technology
Each transaction is a digital block that needs to be verified before it's allowed to enter the system. Each computer on the network competes on unscrambling the answer and the winning computer adds this block to the blockchain in the order that the block arrived. the winner broadcasts his proof to the rest of the network which checks that proof and verifies it before queuing the block to complete the transaction parties involved are assured that participants have screend and okayed the transaction The process not only cuts down on fraud such as double spending or spams but also tranfers funds simply, safely and fast

Payments : Cross-Border Payments
The global payments sector is error-prone , costly and open to money laundering, It takes days if not longer for money to cross the world. The blockchain is already providing solution with remittance companies such as abra, align commerce and bitspark that offer end-to-end blockchain powered remittance service. In 2004 santander became one of the first banks to merge blockchain to a paymet app, enabling customers to make international payments 24 hours a day, while clearing the next day.
Healthcare
Personal health records could be encoded and stored on the blockchain with a private key which would grant access only to specific individuals. The same strategy could be used to ensure that research is conducted via HIPPA laws (in a secure and confidential way). Receipts of surgeries could be stored on a blockchain and automatically sent to insurance providers as proof-of-delivery. The ledger, too, could be used for general health care management, such as supervising drugs, regulation compliance, testing results, and managing healthcare supplies.
Personal Identification
We carry a range of identifications: Our driver’s license, computer password, identity cards, keys, social security ID, and so forth. Blockchain ID is a digital form of ID that’s engineered to replace all these forms of physical identification. In the future, fintech scientists say you’ll be able to use the one digital ID for signing up at any registrar. It is open source, secured by the blockchain, and protected by a ledger of transparent account.
Conclusion
It’s important to note that for the blockchain to work,  the node-to-node network must be motivated and agree to work under ethical standards. Once, and only if, these standards are adhered to, the blockchain could become a powerful tool for improving business, conducting fair trade, democratizing the global economy, and helping support more open and fair societies.
Scope in Future
The future of finance could be dominated by blockchain technologies. A traceable global currency complete with an efficient infrastructure will not only result in massive cost reduction for all market participants, it will change global banking. Bitcoin will do for payments what email did for communication.

The Orion Nebula Seen in Infrared and Visible Light
VISTA — the Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy is the largest survey telescope in the world and is dedicated to mapping the sky at infrared wavelengths. The large (4.1-metre) mirror, wide field of view and very sensitive detectors make VISTA a unique instrument. This dramatic new image of the Orion Nebula illustrates VISTA’s remarkable powers.
The Orion Nebula is a vast stellar nursery lying about 1350 light-years from Earth. Although the nebula is spectacular when seen through an ordinary telescope, what can be seen using visible light is only a small part of a cloud of gas in which stars are forming. Most of the action is deeply embedded in dust clouds and to see what is really happening astronomers need to use telescopes with detectors sensitive to the longer wavelength radiation that can penetrate the dust. VISTA has imaged the Orion Nebula at wavelengths about twice as long as can be detected by the human eye.

A 5-pointed star’s “sine” and “cosine” functions
Based on the same principle as the polygonal trigonometric functions.
This was requested a few times, but I had to figure how to draw polar stars first. Finally got around to it.
I won’t be updating the sound generator. Sorry.

Trace talks junk. Space junk.
“We are the guy on the block with a rusty car on the front lawn the broken flamingos everywhere and the crappy couch on his porch. We have let space junk get out of hand!”
Hear, hear, Trace!

On September 22, a group of students is going to send send 1000 ping pong balls into outer space. Well, not exactly ping pong balls, but PongSats — small, ping pong-sized science experiments that can range from the super simple (like a marshmallow!) to the highly complex (miniature data logs). When the PongSats return to earth, they bring back video footage, photographs, and data from the upper strata of our atmosphere. That’s pretty far out! It’s also our Project of the Day.
