Blah blah blah, Mary and the new girls are more interesting

Bronwyn really thought she could use her billionaire Palm Pilot money to go on Housewives and just wear crazy fashion and subtly bully the women into the storylines she wants to portray without much mess and get adored at BravoCon. Forgetting this is not the real world this is Housewives. I'm sure Lisa Barlow is a good friend irl but on Housewives she torched her 20 year best friendship with an epic hatefilled rant calling Meredith the whore of New York. So instantly iconic my sister bought a coffee mug version off Etsy for my birthday. The core four Lisa, Meredith, Heather, and Whitney, have been through the Jen Shah and Monica Garcia trenches. They have to interact regularly with Mary Cosby. They have weird fights over the sanctity of branded bath bombs and Greek mafia ties. In the real world Bronwyn's money means something, but to make it on Housewives you have to get in the trash and roll in it.

Depression

Esp when you consider how ppl of different identities have their reactions criminalized, when blackI women scream and cry it’s translated as aggression or being inappropriate

Disability tips and ideas from abled people: "buy a robotic hand that will flex for you so you can open and close your hands" "stair climbing wheelchair!" "Here's a robot that will use AI and complicated technology to feed you"

Disability tips and ideas from other disabled people: "get a bidet hose so you can freshen up when full showers are too hard" "stick the fork handle in a piece of pool noodle so you can actually grip the damn thing, if that doesn't work, tape it!" "you can totally tip your chair back on the anti-tip wheels and recline if you need to, just don't try and propel like that."

The difference is low vs high tech, cost, and general usability. Disability tech and aids need to pass a certain line of "is this more help than hinderance?" before they become useful. Cost, ease of use, need, and a couple other things all influence that.

the idea that people experiencing severe pain should be screaming, crying, flailing, and otherwise seeming to be in pain is largely unsupported by reality. is this a response that some people have to some kinds of pain? absolutely. should people who don't respond to pain in this way be dismissed or disbelieved? absolutely not.

ask anyone who deals with chronic pain. it would be exhausting to constantly project our pain in that way, and in some cases, it would make it worse. when i have a migraine, my voice becomes monotone and quiet, my movements slow down, and i don't emote much. this is my natural response to the pain, and doing helps me avoid making it worse.

i become that clip of captain holt saying, completely monotone with a deadpan delivery: "I am in... incredible pain." screaming, emoting, rapidly moving, even crying only make my pain worse. and when i'm experiencing a level of pain that would send abled people to the emergency room, the last thing i want to do is make it worse.

i shouldn't have to perform pain in order for you to believe me.

Review: This was an amazing enemies-to-lovers pairing. I always loved how Webster uses her characters thought processes, and this book is just a perfect example with how amazing she writes. Always perfect amount of detail. I’m feeling so much love for theses two characters especially Roan. He’s going though a lot, and is going to go through so much hard ships with his family especially his little sister Roux.

I’m already majorly loving and shipping Jordy and Road in this book (they have their own book too).

This couple is not done growing and I loved reading their story throughout the series. 5 stars.

Negatives: The social worker part really made me upset. In total reality with social workers if there are reports or even incidents where a child under 18 is going to be in a not safe home, then the social worker would put the child in a group home or foster care especially If another relative over 18 - that’s eligible to take care of the minor - is not around. Even if her mom was still alive at the time, that social worker wouldn’t of left the child stay there since it was mentioned that she has multiple witnesses to being a terrible mother.
