a random little thing i made for @theouterdark’s incredible novel, Coldwater Sound. Check it out, if you haven’t already!

Coldwater Isle, 1927:

A young girl has vanished. The police claim she must have drowned, but with scant evidence, and stubborn hearts, her family hires a private investigator to search for their daughter. En route to the family's estate on an ancient, and grim part of the island, he disappears as well.

Blake Livingston, the detective's ambivalent secretary, must step into the sleuth's shoes to find her employer, and is forced to accept she may be the girl's only hope of being brought home alive. The inhabitants of the nearby town of Stanley are dismissive of Blake's situation, and focus on an upcoming festival that will see their pocketbooks fattened by seasonal tourists. The new investigator's only assistance comes from the amiable, yet laconic writer named Kenny Deegan, whose own reasons for coming to Coldwater Isle are shrouded in mystery.While new faces flood the island, in a place where deception and wickedness have been passed down for generations, Blake must seek hard truths down paths fraught with danger, and horror. At the end of the line, life on Coldwater Isle may not be as pleasant as its residents are willing to admit.

It's a world where there are no superheroes, only gods with capes that rule the world with an iron fist.

PEYTON REID is just a pickpocket who's life is seriously getting weird.

First, she falls into a vat of radioactive waste, causing her skin to turn all green and discoloured. Then, she finds that every living thing she touches withers up and dies. She can also dissipate into a cloud of poisonous gas at will. Did I mention she has claws, like Wolverine ?

Being a mutant is hard, especially a toxic one. She can't help continuing her criminal career after getting her newfound 'abilities' and consequences arise. Peyton is labelled a as mass weapon of destruction and sent to a strange planet full of mutants like her.

When she finds that the good citizens of Khaos doing no better than Earth with their absurdly tyrannical monarchy system, Peyton decides to give a d*mn for once and step in to help.

FORREST FOSTER is the crown prince of Khaos. Unfortunately, he has a problem. His superpower is a voice that can shatter glass with a whisper. He is forced to stand behind soundproof tempered glass while his subjects are left at the mercy of his father, the king of Khaos. When he meets a strange woman with hair like wildfire, he knows he can change that.

The solution ? Vigilantism.

Officials have issued an Amber Alert for a two-year-old girl who was last seen in Brantford, Ont., early Thursday.

The alert, which was broadcast just after 3 a.m. ET on Thursday at the request of Brantford police, said Heather McManus and a suspect, 37-year-old Shawn McManus, were last known to be leaving Brantford at around 12:18 a.m.

It is believed Heather and Shawn were travelling in a vehicle with two women. Police said the vehicle was found in Hamilton, but the pair sought under the Amber Alert are still outstanding.
