I sometimes have a recurring dream about walking into target or w/e and finding bionicles on the shelf, and I recently learned that within the community of people who still like bionicles this is referred to as “The Dream” and happens to everyone

When we think of animals that can harm or kill us with toxins, we usually think of venomous snakes, or perhaps poison dart frogs (Dendrobatidae). But it turns out that birds can play the same trick as the frogs, ingesting toxic foods and then using that toxin for defense.

New Guinea has a particular concentration of poisonous birds, to include in the genus Pitohui. However, species as wide-ranging as the European quail (Coturnix coturnix) and African spur-winged goose (Plectropterus gambensis) may acquire toxins through some of their food. Some of these toxins may be passed to humans when we eat the birds; others, like those of the Pitohui species, could be transmitted through a scratch or bite.

Tolerance to toxins is a great evolutionary strategy in that it allows animals to access foods other species can't eat. Being able to then use those toxins for defense was likely a side benefit, but it also confers improved chances of survival. Research on Pitohui may reveal the mechanism by which these birds are able to tolerate such a dangerous poison. This may be through a modified protein that moves the chemical away from the bird's digestive system toward the tips of the claws where the body can more easily offload the unwanted substance--which just happens to make those claws more effective in self defense.

I never officially announced it here but I have a boyfriend and we've been going steady since April! He's my first ever since I'm Aromantic and never needed romance and really just wanted a life long friend to nerd out w. Now I get to do both and be in love! Lol

But yeah I'm still Aro I suppose. I really can take or leave romance and I'm ok with that. I'm not gonna change that about myself but I am gonna keep loving my partner.

He's a cute bear who's younger than me by 5 years and he's poly and has another boyfriend. We all get along but it took some getting use to sharing. Relationships are all about give and take though. He puts up w me so I put up w him. He's so loving and caring and a great cook! We game and nerd out all the time. I lowkey wanna marry him and it hasn't even been a year. Like I can just tell. He's the one.
