Miles Carter Named NJCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
MAYS LANDING – Miles Carter, an Atlantic Cape Community College freshman, has been named the NJCAA, Division III, Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 5-11. Carter, a 6-3 guard of Rosenhayn, also earned the Garden State Athletic Conference Division III Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award. Carter is being recognized for averaging 30.5 points for the Buccaneers as they defeated Brookdale Community College on Dec. 8 and lost to Bergen Community College on Dec. 10.
On Thursday, Miles scored 40 points and made the game-winning free-throw with two seconds left as the Bucs defeated Brookdale 90-89.  And on Saturday, Carter scored 21 points in the Bucs’ 79-75 loss to Bergen.
“Miles is certainly one of the top players in the region,” AD Mike Rennick says. “He is a great outside shooter, and he is also one of our top inside players. He makes our team competitive with anyone as shown by his 40-point game against Brookdale, one of the best programs in the country.”
For the week, Carter made seven of 10 3-point attempts and 16 of 20 free throws. Carter also leads the team for the season in scoring with a 19.9 PPG average.

1-4 start not ideal for Lady Bucs
By Dashawn Hendricks
The Atlantic Cape Community College Lady Buccaneers have not started the season the way they would have hoped, although the schedule makers weren’t kind (four of the first five games were on the road).   And for a team with only two sophomores and six freshman, it has been a tall task. “We just have to keep it together and play as a team” Assistant Coach Deborah Tanksley has repeated to the group “it is a long season”.
Alejandra Serrano, a sophomore guard from Atlantic City, has to step it up for the Lady Bucs.  She is averaging 14.8 PG and 15.8 rebounds, but shooting just 11.1% from beyond the arc and a pedestrian 53.3% from the line. Those numbers have to trend upward for the Lady Bucs to have a chance at this year’s Region 19 playoffs. The Lady Bucs next welcome the CC College of Philadelphia to Atlantic Cape on December 6th. Tip off will be at 5pm Eastern Time.
 Lady Bucs
Trending up
G. Olivia Aires- 12 points 6 rebounds 9 assist in loss vs Ocean 11/22/16
C. Courtney Hartman- averaging a double-double this season with 12.0ppg and 11.4rpg
G. Alejandra Serrano- has had two games (Sussex, Camden) where she has had 20 rebounds.
 Lady Bucs on the rise
G. Gianna Figueroa- the freshman has shown allot of patience at times with the basketball in the last two games. After a rocky start ,“Figgs” is starting to find her way in the offense facilitating.
G. Alycia Johnson- Johnson a sophomore from Somers Point is this team’s best 3pt shooter; look out for her experience and shooting ability to help lift the Lady Bucs.
