As a whole i loved the class. It was an innovative way to present the material and also a very good way to allow students to learn how they want and allows them to learn at their own pace.  Also i think you, Gabe, were an excellent teacher and kept the lectures very interesting.  You brought an energy which many teachers lack and were always invigorating.

Our team as a whole i feel did very well. We worked well together and put together a product i feel was interesting and very innovative.  As a team we also hurdled many speed bumps and were all willing to adapt and change on the fly which made these obstacles very easy to over come.  Also with the absence of one of our team members i felt we all were willing to supply the extra work to accomplish our goals as a team.
I like the project alot but as an individual it added many stressors to my life because of the presence of other projects in other classes.  This is just part of the beast in college and is something everyone has to be willing to adapt to and supply the extra work needed.

Our Project has progressed quite well.  We initially were too into having a mobile freezer which caused us to branch into the outdoor goods market, but as we refined our ideas we created more of a versatile and functional cooler type removable refrigerator which allows the user to take it to themselves.  As an individual I provided research into materials and helped with the packaging and how it related to the product as a whole.  Also we all provided ideas into how the product itself was created and its features.  I feel our project has advanced well but I think as a group we are missing exactly what is wanted from the assignment itself, but I feel like we have embraced a task which in itself is quite rewarding in the fact that we have began to dive into exactly how the design process works.
Research:
1.     Powermat
a.       http://www.powermat.com/us/how-it-works/
b.      Investigation into the industrial uses of the powermat technology used in wireless power transmission
2.     Efficiency Research
a.       http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/business/manufacturers/quick-facts-refrigerator-freezers.cfm?attr=12
b.      Looking into the efficiencies of the standard refrigerator and freezer
3.     Cooler Efficiency
a.       http://www.engel-usa.com/PS0908_BigCoolers_reprint0808_WEB.pdf
b.      Comparison between different brands of coolers and their efficiency with respect to price and materials
4.     Cooler Coverings

b.      Comparison of the surface types and covering and how they affect the efficiencies of coolers and other appliances

In chapters 9 and 10 Heskett emphasizes how your product can be effected as how it is and needs to be perceived.  Our perception of a product may in fact control the way our design process is effected.  It can effect the features, the packaging and the general campaign for its sales related propaganda.  Its context and realization of that context is one of the most important parts of design and its success.

Our project so far has progressed rapidly. In the first session we basically settled on an idea and began to progress it quickly.  Our idea of the refrigerator with the detachable freezer seemed to gel both with the indoor good and the adventurous nature of the user themselves.  Although only four of the group was present both days with the addition of Allison on Wens. we got a significant amount of work done.  We have a general plan for the fridge and a lay out of the craft show booth of which everyone has worked on

As designers we must take note from the environment in the chapters he often states that many different environments and systems are self replenishing. As designers we can use these systems as examples creating many different systems which can be self sustaining.  As we become less invasive we become more eco-friendly and create a self sustaining and replenishing society.

The visit from the guys at COBEGO was very interesting. It was good to get insight into how the industry works and advise from people who have already gone through the process and came out successful.  They were very helpful and quite knowledgeable.  Their presentation really was interesting and how their backgrounds affected their work was helpful in seeing how I can be innovative myself given my background.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMasgfo1BdA&feature=related
This video basically exposes how we as consumers and designers are beginning to ruin the environment.  It highlights the most urgent issues that could be addressed through designing ecofriendly products.
Source 2: Green Office Design -- Youtube

Source 3: Green by Design -- Youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAGgrTlePW8
Two individuals look into different companies who look at problems which effect their lives.  The all address energy issues and how we effect the environment.  They also help to address these issues and want to help educate to help eliminate our misuse of the environment.
Source 4: Worlds Tallest Building Looks to Leading Green-Tech Design
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrCMNJJwJto
The video focuses on how the Taiwanese government has instituted different green technologies can cut down in the buildings emissions which negatively effect the environment in many different ways.  Also if highlights the fact if more countries adopted the policy and support different technologies that the emissions of the collective would be drastically reduced.
Source 5: What Would nature do here?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cz-GmrVCkM4
The video talks about nature and bio-mimicry.  It state how we could revolve our design around things nature has shown us and take notes and hints in sustainable design from nature and our environment.

The Rip! Remix manifesto was quite interesting.  It is hard to realize how we effect the laws and that also, we can effect things through our designs and choice of pattens or copyrights how easily they can be accessed to help the greater good.  Also it opened my eyes to at times the hypocritical nature of some industries.  The music industry is allowed to "sample" other beats and even lyrics from other songs yet is unwilling to allow their beats and lyrics to be formed into what many see as a new song.

As designers we must always take into account how we function with and through the environment.  We must realize that our designs have effects on the environment.  We must look for ways to limit and in some cases reverse our grotesque over use of natural resources and allow nature to rebound from our misuse of its gifts.

In the introduction McDonough stresses the importance of sustainability and how our designs affect the world.  Also it stresses how previous designs didn't take that into account and how it does affect the world and the negatives it causes.  As designers we must take this into account and design for the environment not to be affected or affected minimally.

This past week has been very interesting.  The presentation on sustainable design and green design has struck a chord with me because as a industrial designer and mechanical engineer I must focus on how I can have an effect or lack there of on the environment through my design.
