So you know why I love Good Omens?

Because it's HAPPY.

I am tired of watching shows and films that think that the only way to be compelling or "edgy" is to showcase abusive relationships and torture and kill their protagonists.

Good Omens is compelling because it shows genuine love, respect, and kindness when it would have been so easy to show literally anything else.

Crowley, a demon, doesn't lie to Aziraphale, doesn't hurt him or trick him, doesn't disrespect or power-trip him; he cares about him and treats him well. Aziraphale, an angel, never for a moment rejects Crowley for being a demon, he doesn't try to change him, tell him he is wrong or attempt to "save" him, but instead recognizes all of the good in him and treats him well.

The only unhealthy relationships are between heaven and hell, and they FREE THEMSELVES OF THESE ABUSES.

The whole thing is filled with healthy relationships of all kinds.

Adam and the Them? Even though Adam is seen as the leader of the group, he takes this as a responsibility to provide his friends with the best games and bring them joy, not as a means of controlling them.

Witches and witchfinders fall in love.

No one is tortured or tormented, the world does not end, and a fucking nightingale sings in Berkeley Square.

Good Omens was the first time I have watched a series that didn't leave me tense wondering when the hurt was going to start. I actually realized how emotionally abusive media has become, and that is so fucked up.

A Sweet and Bitter Honey

Through the searing agony, Aziraphale is aware of the vast glow of his own blood pooling around him.

He lays on his back, Gabriel standing above him, the other angel’s jade eyes alight with twisted pleasure as he drives the sword further into Aziraphale’s chest. 

The blonde gasps, wheezing and tries to squirm away, but the pain becomes too much and he sinks back against the cold marble floor with a whine. 

More holy blood spills from him, dripping down his chin and getting caught in the dip of his throat. It begins to cool there, staining his pale skin. 

Gabriel makes his exit just as the first snatches of darkness begin to fill Aziraphale’s vision. 

The angel fizzles in and out of consciousness. 

He blinks slowly, sluggishly, his whole body feeling weighted down and stuffed with cotton. 

He floats.

Tilting his head to the side, Aziraphale opens his mouth, allowing the blood to escape between his clenched jaw. His whole being drums with pain and the faintest wisps of something more, something deeper that the angel cannot identity.

The feeling scares him more than he would ever admit. 

Lifting a trembling hand up to wipe at his lips, Aziraphale takes a second to study the sticky liquid caught in the grooves of his palm. 

Golden. 

Like Crowley’s eyes.

He blinks again, his eyesight blackening in a foamy sea. 

Almost.

The last thing Aziraphale sees before the wave swallows him whole is the glistening of own his honey colored blood sliding to the floor. 

Pooling around him like Crowley’s loving gaze was holding him tenderly, gently guiding Aziraphale to his final journey among the stars.

Oh, the angel had always known he would drown in those golden dephs.
