7 day Fill-Your-Grimoire Challenge (🇬🇧 edition)
Tumblr media
I decided to organize a one-week witchy challenge to celebrate the start of the school year and share it with you and those who want to participate. (I’ll do this the first week of September, but anyone who wants to join is free to do so at any time of the year)
Rules :
Have any support to write in : your grimoire, or a simple notebook, diary, binder… for the artsy ones here, even if this is a writing challenge at first, you can draw too of course 😉
You don’t have to already have a grimoire to join : you can start yours with this challenge. If you already have one, this is the occasion to keep filling it
Optional : share your entries and experience with other participants with #fillyourgrimoire and #FYGchallenge
Prompts :
🧐 Day 1 : magical check-up : where are you in your practice, how do you feel physically, spiritually, energetically ? What goals do you want to reach
✅ Day 2 : set up a magical daily and/or weekly routine
📝 Day 3 : which subject/domain are you interested in lately ? Research and write about it
🎊 Day 4 : learn about the next sabbat and write about your researches
🔮 Day 5 : a tool you don’t have tried yet but want too
⛓ Day 6 : an obstacle in your practice : what makes you uncomfortable for now, how can you get over it, what can you learn from it
🙌 Day 7 : a power or skill you want to develop

Day 4 of the 7 day grimoire challenge
Originally the prompt was to study the next upcoming sabbat, but since I don’t really celebrate a lot of them I decided to instead dedicate todays page to none other than Lord Ares!

Uncle Alabaster’s
Ebony and Ivory Chili
Tumblr media
(Protection Stew)
Chili is a dish used in kitchen, hearth, and cottage witchery for protection. It is something you would eat before taking on a task you feel anxious about, before ghost hunting, before summoning, or to protect yourself from curses and other baneful magics. The best part about Chili? It’s unbelievably easy and fairly inexpensive to make!
You will need the following ingredients
Beef (at least a pound) - Protection
Tomatoes (I used 4 cans of stewed tomatoes, but if you have home-stewed tomatoes that is even better) - Protection
A large onion (whichever kind you like. Or substitute with onion powder, or dried onion) - Protection
Canned Black Beans and White Beans (This is the Ebony and Ivory bit) - Black for banishing, White for cleansing, both for protection
Chili Powder!
Start by browning your beef thoroughly, drain any grease, then season with Chili Powder (and onion powder if you are using it).
Put the meat into a large cook pot. Add the stewed tomatoes WITH the juice.
Add your beans (however much you like, I like more tomato than bean myself).
Add onion if using it, or dried onions!
Add Chili powder ( and onion powder if you are using that instead of fresh onion) to taste.
Get it all nice and boiling.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Serve up! Ready to eat! (Add shredded cheddar or sour cream if you like!)
NOTE: The liquid from the canned beans and stewed tomatoes should be enough to make the chili the right consistency, but if you need to add a little more moisture you can add in a can of crushed tomatoes or tomato juice as not to dull the flavor with plain water.
Happy Eating!

Spirit Communication (non-verbal)
I recently re-taught a class of mine on spirit work and there were some questions regarding communication that isn’t clear audible speaking, like what tends to happen in movies and stories. As with all spirit work and communication, please be aware of what may have mundane causes behind it (especially mental-health related ones like hallucinations).
Here are some alternative methods they may communicate with you:
sudden change in temperature
music or non-language auditory sounds (thumping, whistling, moaning, etc.)
tactile sensations such as gentle pushing, brushes, nudges, etc.
empathic sensations (sudden emotional feelings being projected that aren’t your own)
smells or tastes that aren’t caused by your surroundings (they’re often tied together)
pictures or ideas in your head that seem to come from nowhere
visual representations (though I would say this is the most rare to a non-experienced spirit worker)
divination tools influence (i.e. Tarot, pendulums, scrying, casting stones/runes/coins, etc.)
Feel free to add on if you think of others!

Spirit Work Techniques: Keys 🗝👻
Spirit working is one of the main practices in my personal path. Because of this I don’t like using blanket wards on my property as I have many spirits I commune with on a regular basis that I don’t want to have to dismantle my wards only to put them back up again within the hour.
It’s impractical and draining (especially as a spoonie).
But obviously I don’t want to have no wards on my home as it’s a double edged sword being an experienced spirit worker- my house tends to be a beacon to all sorts of things I don’t want on my property at all.
My solution for this is an energy directive I call “spirit keys”!
Tumblr media
You will need:
1.) a physical key (only one really- though you can astrally give them to many spirits!)
2.) string/rope/thread in a color or type that has personal meaning to you
3.) access to a physical aspect of your wards (a jar, witches ladder, crystal grid, plant, etc. Basically however you charge/tie your wards to your property or energy)
4.) pen and paper
5.) a candle and way to light it
6.) fire safe bowl/container
7.) a foundation in energy work/manipulation or visualization
Ritual:
I like to use an antique key but that’s entirely for aesthetic reasons- a cheap blank from a hardware store is just as good! Or even an old one that isn’t needed anymore or you can’t remember the purpose for.
Take the pen and paper first and write down the type of spirits you will be granting access (this can be as specific as names or as general as the type of intent they have towards you- the directed energy will take care of lie detecting for you. You can reduce it to a sigil if you like or keep it as a list. You can rewrite the list if you have elaborate additions but keep in mind you can give this key in “spirit”/astrally to specific entities you meet and determine to be trustworthy on a case by case basis.
Light the paper carefully on fire and let it reduce to ash in your fire safe bowl. Once it’s no longer hot, place the key in the bowl. Let sit while you do the next step.
Take your string and tie a knot while focusing on your wards and envisioning a lock that only your charged key will open. I like to have multiple knots/locks just for failsafe reasons- you can have as many as you feel comfortable with. You might even choose a number that is significant to you. If you want it to be a complex lock, double or triple knot in one spot. You can visualize different kinds of “locks” too- don’t be afraid to incorporate technology visuals or magical/supernatural type ones! Doesn’t have to be like the literal lock to your front door. Make sure you leave a “tail” on the string to be tied onto your key.
Take your key out of the ashes and carefully wipe off with a dry cloth or paper towel (do NOT wash). Tie the string to the key while carefully visualizing exactly how the key opens each lock (again, the visualizing/astral aspect of the key does not have to match what the key physically looks like! It can be a complex numerical passcode or a specific set of dance steps the spirit has to do 😉)
Attach your key to your physical ward base somehow. Can be as simple as setting on an altar or tying to your witches ladder, placing in your witches jar, burying in a special plant’s soil, placing under crystals you use for your ward anchor points, etc!
Have a trusted spirit test it! You may have to ask one that isn’t a companion if you have your companions already immune to property wards as I do. Have a good handle on what your key looks like astrally so you can “give” it to the spirits who need to have it. It can look however you like- again it doesn’t have to match what the actual “passcode” is. So for example, you could have it as a delicate crystal skeleton key even if the way to unlock your wards is a series of dance steps. Basically the key is like the “file” that tells your trusted entity what information they need to unlock your protections temporary. It could even be a USB drive or a special pair of dancing shoes! The more personal and significant, the stronger the energy directive!
You can absolutely turn it into a necklace or pocket charm and use for personal shield/protections when out and about as well!
Happy communing! 🧙‍♀️

@ Witchblr what is the best type of crystal ball to use when starting?
I would really like to work with crystal balls, but I see so many types when I look to buy. Various stones, some made of clear glass, black glass. So many types.
But which one is best when starting out with them, and how are they best used. I am so curious and want to dedicate a page in my studies about this subject. If you could reblog with information on the uses and which type I should start with that would be awesome!

Correspondence: Times of the Day
Morning: Daylight hours are best for matters of the conscious mind including magick for leadership, and intelligence of all cognitive functions. The Sun is a welcome friend to chase any shadows hiding in our lives. It is regarded as a beneficial sign of divine blessing when it shines on any special occasion. Mystical pursuits during daylight hours can be empowered when combined with a southerly wind.
Night: The intuitive emotional self, maternal nature, healing fertility, and moon magick, wishing on stars, dreams, the eternal nature of the spirit, ancient mysteries. If your observance can incorporate the west wind, all the better. This breeze is filled with flowing water and peacefulness.
Dawn: Beginning any ritual, spell, or celebration at dawn commemorates a new beginning, freshens warmth, and renews hope. An especially potent time for spring observances. Magick performed at dawn can also be accentuated by working with an east wind.
Dusk: Closing and ending are the messages dusk brings. Dusk marks a temporary change towards darkness. It’s a time to look within oneself and ponder universal truths. It is an excellent time to perform rites that mark the passage of a loved one, intense personal transitions, or to mark the end of a cycle. Magick performed at dusk gets aid from a north wind.
Midnight and Noon: Commonly called the in-between hours, hanging between night and day. The most active times for elemental creatures are Noon and Midnight. Excellent for all magick pertaining to positive modifications, endings, and beginnings.

So I have started the Fill Your Grimoire 7 Day Challenge by @frenchwitchdiary and this is my first page. It’s simple, but very to the point which I enjoy. I also like the small accents and splashes of color that the stickers provide. It’s appealing.

Bone correspondences
A little while ago, I realized that there is NO info on what bones to use for what. I was clueless and had no idea where to begin. Research was fruitless and asking others came with no results. So I sat down during preap algebra 2 and made my own list. These are my own correspondences, based off of what I felt like and remembering bits of spells I’d thought about. They are 100% my own, taken from no one. Please give me credit if you use it anywhere else :) I also know I haven’t included every bone out there, if I missed one msg me, I’ll give it some thought and see what happens! :D
▪Teeth- communication, learning other language, news, defense ▪Skull- thoughts, divination, communication, spirit work, astral ▪Spine- support, confidence, level headed ▪Arm- help, blocking (curses, hexes, psychic attacks, etc) ▪Wrist- flexibility, hard work ▪Hand- art, artistic ability, creativity, energy ▪Fingers- fluidity, progress, endurance ▪Nails/ claws- fighting, protection, finding things out, knowledge, struggle, balance ▪Rib- agility, protection ▪Hip- ebdurance, keeping it together ▪leg- endurance, travel, strength ▪Ankle- movement, moving on, catalyst ▪Foot- endurance, moving on, leaving things behind, hard work, independence, luck ▪Toe- balance, help, prosperity, money, changing luck (for the better or worse) ▪Tail- (like actual bones in the animals tail, not the tailbone) agility, secrecy, alarm, cursing

What to do if witchcraft suddenly gets way too intense
1. FINISH WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
► DO NOT walk away from an uncompleted ritual
► DO NOT walk away in the middle of a spell
Grab your notes and close everything down. Dismiss any spirits or entities you are working with. Close down the circle. End the ritual. Diffuse the energy of the spell and close it down. If you were enchanting an item, announce over it that it is closed and nothing more may come in or out.
Spells and rituals are little portals of power; if you leave one open without closing it, all sorts of things could get screwy and come through.
2. End any spooky/witchy atmosphere immediately.
Blow out all the candles.
Put out all the incense.
Turn on all the lights.
Turn off spooky chanting music. Turn on some happy music or better yet, a non-supernatural television show or movie you love.
If you were enchanting an item, immediately put it in salt.
3. Don’t destroy the items/notes you will need later.
Trust me, do not throw away the spell you wrote or the objects you were working on. If things go wrong in the future you will need these to fix the problem.
► Immediately write down exactly what happened. Write down every deviation from the spell that you did. Write down exactly what you said and saw during any visualizations. Write down exactly when things started to get freaky.
► If you were enchanting an item, keep it in a black bag filled with salt until you are ready to deal with it.
4. Cleanse.
Use an energy cannonball to purify the space you were working in. Burn rosemary and bay leaves to fumigate the area, or spritz a premade water solution if you can’t have smoke. Pay special attention to all ritual tools.
If you feel the need to, cleanse yourself by visualizing the power of the smoke enveloping you and driving away any bad vibes; or take a shower if you really feel something has gone wrong.
5. Get out of the area you were working in.
Go to another room. Leave the house if possible. Seek the company of others or turn on the television if you are alone.
6. Do mundane things for a while.
Eat a nice meal. Drink a big glass of water. Go for a jog. Do some chores. Put anything magical totally out of your head. Absolutely do not focus on how weird things just got.
7. When you are ready, return to the area you were working in.
Relax yourself and judge the energies within the room. Are things still ‘creepy’? A heavy-duty cleansing is in order. Do you feel as if someone else is there? Open a window and command it to leave - if it does not, more fumigation or a banishing is required.
Judge your ritual tools and determine if they will need additional cleansing. If you were working on an object, determine if it has been corrupted or if anything is wrong with it. If so, put it back in the salt and deal with it as soon as you can.
8. Take a break from witchcraft for a couple of days.
9. Figure out what went wrong.
Fear is never a good thing. There is a difference between embracing the darkness and being afraid.
► Fear can be caused if an entity showed up you were unprepared to deal with.
► Fear can be caused if your intuition (or perhaps a spirit ally) was warning you that what you were about to do was a really bad idea.
► Fear can be caused if you tap in to powers that overwhelm you.
You need to figure out what went wrong. It isn’t a situation where you can say “oh well” and try something else later - because you screwed up, and next time you may not get an adequate warning before things go to hell.
