consider, jaskier, who has not a magical bone in his body, memorizes all of the witcher signs geralt uses over the course of adventuring with him. oh sure, he knows they don't actually do anything when he uses them, but when he's all alone after the mountain they help. When he's sleeping outside and he hears an odd sound and he doesn't have a witcher to protect him he forms the sign quen and it makes him feel a little safer. And when it's too f*cking cold out he fumbles the sign for igni with numb fingers and he feels just a little bit warmer. and maybe it's enough, this memory of geralt, to make him feel a little less alone.
