Social Media and Its Role During This Pandemic
Social media is a computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of ideas, thoughts, and information. Its emergence made quite an impact towards the society, especially among teens.
But...
How does it help during this pandemic?
COVID-19 is extensively spreading throughout the world, causing intensive pressure on healthcare, economic, and social structures. And during this crisis, lack of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness would put a lot of people at risk. But good thing, we have social media to help us make gathering and providing pieces of information about the current status of the world and the spreading virus easier. In just seconds, everyone will be able to find pieces of information about the current number of COVID-19 cases, updates regarding vaccines, actions of the government, and any other things that they need to know all throughout the internet.
Social media also serves as a tool for frontliners in spreading awareness for all the people around the world. Giving people warnings, do's and dont's, reports, and any other things that everyone might need to know just became easier with the help of social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
Social media also comes in handy for the government during this pandemic. It enables them to easily tell the people about their plans and actions regarding COVID-19. It is also where they conduct meetings as face-to-face conference is prohibited.
At difficult times like this, information dissemination is very important and it's all thanks to social media which made communication much easier. Unlike before, when people only depend on televisions and radios, we now have pieces of information scattered all around the internet and can all be accessed using social media platforms.

How To Prevent Cyberbullying
Without us noticing, cyberbullying happens and its number of cases is still increasing, especially among teenagers.
So...
What is cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is a type of bullying that takes place over electronic devices such as cellphones, computers, and tablets. It can occur through texts, apps, or online in social media, where people can easily view and share content.
According to statistics,
About 37% of young people between the ages of 12 and 17 have been bullied online. And 30% have had it happen more than once. That is scary especially when you are a parent and your child experiences it. That's why we have here...
Ways To Prevent Cyberbullying
1. Talk to him/her
It might just be a small thing, but having someone to talk to means a lot to someone who is experiencing cyberbullying. All you need to do is to be patient and ask him/her about the problem. That way, you will be able to see what is going on and get an idea on how to help your child.
2. Monitor his/her online activity
Installing monitoring app will be a great help as it helps you monitor your child's social media activity, including Facebook and Instagram, view all text messages, call logs and general online behavior. You can block and control the childโs phone remotely through PC or personal cell phone.
3. Engage in Anti-Cyberbullying communities
Join a community with your child that fights cyberbullying. That way, he/she will feel that he/she is not alone. He/she can even start making new friends.
4. Build a positive climate in the house
Your child might have experienced bad things outside, but not inside your home. You can do it by creating rules inside and encouraging every family member to build a bond with each other. You can also have an open forum with all the family members so that everyone can express themselves as to what problems they are experiencing.
5. Restore self-respect
The ultimate goal is to protect and restore the childโs self respect. You can talk to someone about the problem, collect the evidence and join with teachers to figure out the possible best choice to stop cyberbullying among children.
