The second entry in the 'Journals of Eldritch Lore' series 'The Slithering Horror' is the most vile and threatening piece of audio in the series yet. I hope it makes you feel uncomfortable... Available to download for FREE with an extra 'Ambient Edit' at: https://eveyweveydevey.bandcamp.com/

Did you know that the original 'Shadow Warrior' went through some interesting phases during its protracted development before it became the game we know today?

Quake's levels hold a certain amount of disdain for you and it's why I love it.

Visually, Quake is a huge inspiration for a lot of Retro FPS'. Yet gameplay-wise few of them dare to adopt Quake's devious layouts and enemy placement instead relying on the more twitchy shooting.

Did you know that John Carmack envisioned 'Quake' to have a persistent online world inspired by his fascination with the Metaverse? Sadly, that never happened because of time-constraints.

'Quake', the seminal First Person Shooter from iD Software had quite the troubled development as it saw the studio standing on a crossroad.

[Sound ON!]
The soundtrack of 'Kingdom of the Dead' is not exactly what you'd expect... it is however rather banging nonetheless.

RINGWORM - Snake Church (Relapse Records 2016)
I was surprised to hear that these Metalcore-pioneers were still around let alone having released a new record. Their sound is pretty much unaltered from before which is a good thing because we need more Metalcore that doesn’t lose the focus on Hardcore over Metal these days. You will not easily hear a Hardcore band sounding this evil \m/.

DEFEATER - Abandoned (Epitaph Records 2015)
Discovered this band while crate-digging today. I think they sound pretty rad, sorta like American Nightmare (Give up the Ghost).

JOHN WILLIAMS - Return of the Jedi
Return of the Dynamics! What I said about the ‘TESB’ release counts for this one as well. Except there’s a nice little addition in the form a funky little track played by Jabba’s band which is actually a pretty good song in it’s own right.

JOHN WILLIAMS - The Empire Strikes Back
The dynamics strike back! My god, what a huge improvement over the re-release of the original ‘Star Wars’ soundtrack which sounded very flat. Which is a crime when it comes to soundtracks as they rely heavily on dynamics but this one more than makes up for it.

SNAPCASE - Designs for Automation
This is their second full-length which finds them sounding more accessible but also adds to their ‘Progressive Hardcore’ sound even more than before. This is the album that propelled them to a bigger audience due to it’s accessible sound in a ‘Nu-Metal’ age where kids were fond of aggressive and groove-based yet melodic music which seemed to attract a lot of non-hardcore kids to this band. Evidence for this is the countless amount of time a song from this album appeared on a game soundtrack.

SNAPCASE - Progression Through Unlearning
Flashback to a time when hardcore did not necessarily need to revolve around a tough guy image but you could write about self-improvement and silly things like believing in yourself and shit like that and still have your music setting the moshpit alight. Crazy huh? Soundwise they were as heavy as most other ‘New School Hardcore’ bands as we called them back then (which later evolved into ‘Metalcore’) except they relied more on groove where other bands of the time and ilk relied more on the typical ‘chugga-chugga’-sound or ‘Slayer-worshipping’ riffs.
