Devotees are people who have a sexual/emotional attraction to people with disabilities. Most devotees aren't dreadful, but some of them are. I'm an amputee, and after a few disturbing interactions, decided to create an...

Tam McCauley still isn’t an amputee.
This person who I have written about before is still infiltrating amputee groups, pretending to be an amputee and befriending other amputees for the purpose of stealing their pics.
I wrote about them here: https://dreadfuldevotees.tumblr.com/post/86530733157/tam-mccauley-is-not-an-amputee
Now they are using a new profile picture...
I figured out who this woman is and it isn’t Tam McCauley and she did not give Tam McCauley permission to impersonate her. This profile picture is a screencap from a Youtube video: https://youtu.be/2kuOuO7ABeU?fbclid=IwAR2-wsvtaCB8l9gZ2LFKEOV-pMf3h5z85oJAxOmlOCk7sAeYrCbwwHVovMA
This woman’s picture is being used by fake profiles all over the internet, and she’s pretty pissed about it. Delete yourself, Tam.

Carla Stan isn't an amputee
So this person Carla Stan is using photoshopped pics and pics stolen from the interwebs in order to creep on amputee women and ask for stump pics.
Whoever you are, this is unacceptable behavior. Why do you think it's okay to create a fake profile and prey on the vulnerabilities of others? Delete yourself. Don't make another profile like this. You are not welcome in our communities. WE BITE.
Here is a pic "Carla" is using...
I can tell they are just a garden variety fetishist from their interests...
Go away.

Ever hear of experiences where devotee would adulate but later reject because disability wasn't their ideal? I am able bodied but have a left side facial paralysis. Found out this guy was a devotee far into our relationship and at first I thought, "how beautiful. He sees past physical into the soul of a human." Boy was I wrong. When he was on his Dev highs he would almost be disgusted with me for not having the form of an amputee. Read his journals and got such hatred. :(
That’s gross, no one deserves to be rejected for their disability, lack of disability or non-focal disability.
It’s 100% that guy’s problem.

I'm a male LAKA who has found my pictures on some devotee tumblr sites. How do I get them removed? Secondly, how do I find out if my pictures are being used on FB? I'm not the best looking guy, so I suppose I should be flattered, but it feels more like violated. Thank you. AnonLAKA

so long ago...my first encounter with a devotee. he wrote me through myspace. said he was a prosthetisist (?) and started an email chat. after a few, what seemed normal back and forth he then asks me how my husband has sex with me without my arm. I told him to fuck off. He explained he was a devotee and what that meant. Again, I said fuck off then went off myspace. I continue to get emails on random sites like instagram, twitter etc. I find it annoying and rude...it makes me feel yuck. And finding pictures of me on amputee sites...I have made them remove the ones I have found.
ugh.

Frank Aldous
This guy Frank Aldous, who has been featured on this blog before... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013673434460
Messaged a friend of mine...
...and literally threatened to rape her... because she refused to talk to him about his fetish unless he compensated her for her time. No, just no.

May I ask a question in private? It won't be "Hey, can I see your boobs?!" or any other asshat thing like that. Just a serious question I would rather field with an audience of one.
sure?

Hello. How are you? Well, as I can say, I'm a devotee, and yeah, I must admit that I reblog a lot of things most of the time (although I have other likes that are not related to amputees, like boots, the cosmos. The problem is that many stupid devs uses idiot things to get close to amputees. What's better to be just sincere and clear instead of faking profiles and telling lies. I'm extremely shy, but I never treat amps like that. Those devs are shame for the rest who really want some serious.
I completely agree.

hi ☆ i only came across devoteeism and then your account tonight and it's something i never knew existed despite living with a lower limb deficiency since birth, and i think your account is amazing, it makes me angry to see that people are manipulating others or taking pictures without permission (i've experienced this before but i think they were just assholes lol), i'm not one to judge and you are into what you're into, but it's wrong to deceive people so yeah, keep up the good fight! ♡

Online vs IRL harassment
Here is a good rule of thumb. If it would be rude/harassment to do something in meatspace, it is rude to do it online.
He said we could talk about anything, so I chose to talk about how his behavior was fucking rude. ^.^

John van Dyk is the fakest
https://www.facebook.com/john.vandyk.792 This guy John van Dyk messaged me repeatedly on Facebook. He has a clearly fake profile with a bunch of random pictures of prosthetics and amputations on it, no pictures of his face, and is mostly friends with other amputees.
He sent me a bunch of random pictures of prosthetic legs for some reason, I guess to “prove” he is an amputee?
See, the only thing is, that picture of feet relaxing on a table belongs to Paralympian Liam Malone....
And those silver legs in shorts are a photoshop of a child, meant to make a single prosthetic look bilateral...
These are all pictures he collected on the internet and is now uploading to his profile so he can go around making friends with people and claiming he is an amputee.
He isn’t.
Devotees - the reason we are freaked out by devs is because of this kind of thing. If you want to roleplay as an amputee then go do it somewhere where the person on the other end of the computer screen has consented to roleplaying.

Hi, I asked the wannabe question, and I just wanted to say thank you. :) Completely agree about fake profiles - it's so manipulative! But I wanted to say thank you for taking me seriously and not getting mad. No need to answer this "question", I just wanted to thank you, and to wish you luck in getting people to be less manipulative to the disabled.
That’s a good way of putting it. I AM trying to get people to be less manipulative to us.

Can we not?
When you make friends with an amputee and the first thing you ask them about is their legs, and then you insist they show you pictures of their legs after they decline and then demand an explanation when they repeatedly tell you no, you might be a Dreadful Devotee.

This guy’s name on Facebook is Eric Derek Legg.
Apparently the person behind this profile (pictured) thinks it’s perfectly okay to take pictures of amputee men without their knowledge, and then post those pictures on the internet as “sightings”.
If this happened to me, I would feel so incredibly violated. We are not “sightings” we are human beings just trying to go about our lives.
If you are a devotee/wannabe/pretender, do not EVER do this. Yes, I know it’s legal to photograph people in public without their permission but DON’T. Doing so shows you have zero respect for amputees/the people you admire and perpetuates the idea that devotees are creepy stalkers.
If you are an amputee, keep your eye out for this dude.

I have to do this anonymously because of a lowlife bank president who tried to get me fired from a dump I was working in. I'm not into "devotee" or other labels. To me, if I like someone, I like them and I'm very sincere about it. I've had crushes on several women with disabilities and actually fell in love with a woman with no obvious disability - only to be too intimidated by her supermodel looks, even though she was the sweetest friend I ever knew. Does this make me a devotee or stalker?
Going off of only the information you’ve given me, no.

How do you feel about wannabes...? I mean, some of us feel forever ashamed of our "biid", especially when we see amputees who wish they still had their limbs. Personally I want a below the knee leg amputation, but there's no way I could admit it other than anonymously on the internet...I'm so sorry if I offended you, you just seemed open about devotees so I figured I'd ask...(and just to say, I'm mentally stable - been checked over by a lot of doctors over the years, I'm not just nutty...!)
I don’t mind people with BIID as long as you don’t go creating fake profiles on the interne for the purpose of befriending amputees under false pretenses. I’ve been burned many times by people who create fake profiles, steal pics of some other amputee or photoshop themselves or someone else as an amputee and pass it off as them. Not cool. But if you have BIID you can’t help the feelings you have and you didn’t ask for them.

Hello Savannah, I'm a 25 year old male paraplegic. My question is how would I go about finding a female devotee? Through facebook I have had multiple male devotees find me, but I don't swing that way. Id really like to find a female that is attracted to me .
That’s a tough one. I’d say put yourself out there on dating profiles and use keywords that other female devotees might search for.
If I were a female dev I might go to a dating site and search “wheelchair” or something like that and see what profiles pop up.
