EXTERIOR SPACE FINAL
“Nature Provides”
12 in x 50 in
Materials: Staples, Elephant ear leaf, oyster plant, royal palm, copper leaf, peacock feathers on wood
This project is meant to represent my ideal exterior space—one that embodies both beauty and self-sufficiency. For me, an ideal outdoor space is a lush and fruitful garden that provides for both my family and myself. It is a space that offers freedom and the ability to sustain myself, regardless of the economic climate.
For my design, I chose plants that are native to my surroundings and hold personal significance. One example is the large green leaves of the plant commonly known as elephant ears. While this plant is often used decoratively, many may not know that it is the source of taro, a purple, starchy vegetable often found in expensive boba drinks. Yet, it grows abundantly in our own backyards. Another plant I included is the royal palm, a species commonly found throughout Florida. This tree serves not only as an air purifier but also symbolizes peace and tranquility.
I also incorporated a red copperleaf for vibrant color, as well as the oyster plant, with its striking purple and green hues. This plant is particularly special because it has been used medicinally for skin lesions, lung conditions, and eye infections. It's a common sight in my surroundings, yet many are unaware of the healing properties it holds, highlighting how nature provides for us in countless ways.
To further emphasize the theme of nature as a symbol of freedom, I added locally sourced peacock feathers. These feathers represent beauty and liberty, reminding us of the freedom nature offers in both physical and metaphorical terms.
Through this piece, I hope to encourage others to connect with nature and recognize its true value—showing just how accessible the healing and nourishment it provides can be.

Interior place Project final product
A love letter to environmental architecture
Materials: Clay, glass bowl/ vase, India ink, yarn, aluminum foil, wire
12 in x 11 in
In this project, I was deeply inspired by Mexican architect Javier Sinosain and his work and organic architecture, particularly his “Casa Orgánica.” this living space seamlessly bless the interior with the exterior, embodying the belief that humans should not be separated from nature. I appreciate the abstract shapes he employs and the idea of incorporating stained glass into my design.
To enhance the sensory experience, I included various color lights inside of a bowl, and lit Palo Santo, placing it inside the pink vase like object. This fragrant wood not only please is the senses, but also serves as my personal method of energetically cleansing my space. Although my experience in Clay is limited, I incorporated several clay elements reminiscent of the man made organic clay homes built by sinosain and his community.
Overall, my goal was to emulate the uniqueness of these one of a kind spaces that elevate the phrase “as within, so without.” in conclusion, I am pleased with my project.

Amanda Bradley
“Ripe With Memory”
Archival Fine art print with letterpress
In this piece, Amanda Bradley uses materials in a very traditional way. This piece titled “Ripe With Memory” has a sense of clarity in some areas, mixed with blurred highlights. Similar to looking back in childhood memories. This piece was impactful because a some of my first memories were being held by a mamey tree, or mango tree , that was planted by my parents as a celebration of their first house. I like the way the light shines through the trees, and also the fact that it is a fruit tree that is meant to last for generations, and holds memories of those who tended to it, and how the energy of those people provided fruit and sustenance for the next generations.

Like the body of a flower
Acrylic on Raw canvas
I found myself gravitating towards this piece by Mette Tommerup. The artist uses acrylic on canvas, which is a traditional way of using these materials, however the size as well as the choice of how they hung this piece was very unique. It made me feel as if I was enveloped in a completely different world. When I first viewed this piece, I enjoyed standing under it and watching the way that the light shifted in different parts of the canvas. I was also enamored by the immense labor and detailed work that it must have taken to spread paint on a canvas this size. The title,” Like The Body of a Flower”conveys the idea of being under a vast and beautiful flower, and as if the artist has deconstructed the flower into its abstract forms, giving us a chance to connect to that feeling of watching the light shine through colored petals while gifting us as the viewers a sense of safety.

Cristina Lei Rodriguez
“Traversing Boundaries”
Acrylic paint, ink, freshwater and imitation pearls, beads, lapis lazuli stone, quartz crystal, micro beads, recycled plastic packaging
This piece by Cristina Lei Rodriguez, particularly stood out to me for many reasons. Experiencing this canvas in person is a captivating experience; some of the materials used in this piece include plastic microbeads, plastic packaging, freshwater pearls, beads, lapis lazuli and quartz crystals. Personally, I am someone who believes that crystals hold energy, so when viewing this work, I was captivated by the energy I could sense and feel radiating off of this campus. The name of this piece itself is called traversing boundaries, which I see as a fitting title due to the fact that as you get closer, it looks like elaborate terrain the crystals from up close emulate, large vast mountains across the canvas, however from far you are able to appreciate the beauty in the journey itself. The materials in this piece were used both traditionally, as well as not traditionally. The use of acrylic ink wash on canvas is traditional but adding the texture from the crystals is unique and not often a material seen on the canvas. Overall this was a pleasure to experience as the viewer and would like to look into adding these techniques in my own personal work.
