4.6L F-150: an introduction
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my dad’s truck. He has owned it since new in 1999
~images are from 2016~
4.6L V8 FR 1999 Ford F-150 220hp, mileage: 380,000 mi
Pretty basic, lacking a bit of power tbh, but still runs great after constant trips with the bed filled with sand, bags of concrete, scaffolding, buckets of stucco, etc. leaving the rear appear as if you installed aftermarket coilovers and lowered the ride height by a good 50-75mm. You could say its been abused quite a bit. It still has a nice glossy paintjob, shiny OEM wheels (I like that they had a bit of negative offset and a little indented lip coming from the factory). The interior doesn’t look so hot, the carpets and seats are covered in sand and dried concrete bits, the steering wheel is completely faded, the little cigarrette lighter door doesnt close anymore, and the glovebox needs a bit of a slam to close ..oh and the headliner heh, at least it does a better job at blocking the sun than the sun visors.
Not a fan of american cars or trucks, but knowing and experiencing the story behind this vehicle, and growing up with it makes me feel somewhat attached to it.
Making an entry introducing this car bcz I’m going to talk about it quite a lot.

A little about myself
I had a basic interest in cars prior to having Wi-Fi installed @ my house, which is the majority of my childhood and teen years. As a kid I challenged myself to memorize every single car’s make and model, along with its generation. During my free time I played Gran Turismo 3, 4 and Forza Motorsport 4, there I learned about the existence of exotic supercars and JDM.
During my mid teen years I received a Samsung Galaxy SIII for my birthday, I used it to text my friends, s.o., make minimal searches (e.g. hw related, guitar tabs, etc.) and listen to music at 128kbps ripped from youtube, it was great. At the time I could only browse the internet via limited data credits from my phone service provider ~you have to buy a prepaid card, plug the code from the card to your cellphone as if you’d be making a call, once you do that you’re able to buy data or minutes from its app.
When I graduated from high school I finally got Wi-Fi, I was able to watch videos, resume my short lived weeb childhood, play online, browse reddit, and rediscover early 2000s kpop, which 8 year old me had no idea it was kpop. While spending countless hours at night binging youtube I found some channels that refueled my interest for cars. Among which I can make a list:
• Video Option
• Best Motoring / Hot Version
• Classic Top Gear / Grand Tour
• DSport
• Drift Station
• Donut Media
• Scotty Kilmer
• Chrisfix
• Papadakis Racing
• Engineering Explained
and bunch of other smaller user’s top speed clips / engine work
After so much automotive content being consumed, along with quite a few google searches, I became familiarized with a lot of the jargon.

I created this blog for anyone who wants to follow my journey of turning ordinary cars into max speed machines starting out as a complete noob.
I hope my story can inspire others who have 0 experience in the automotive world and no tuning shops available where they live.
