********Metronome exercise 2**** In this exercise we will be using triplettes to take our metronome training one step further! Triplets can be tricky at first but if we start off with our metronome at a nice slow pace you'll be shredding them on beat in no time! We are going to use this classical piece written by Dionisio Aguada y Garcia. For those of you familiar with fernando sor this was his roommate and they also collaborated on many works. This piece is a great advanced beginner piece. It is in 4/4 and the triplets are constant so it keeps a nice steady comfortable beat. Now lets start with how to count out our triplets. To do that we will count “1, 2, 3” as we are counting through our piece. So since this is in 4/4 will will count the triplets out as so: 1,2,3 - 2,2,3 - 3,2,3 - 4,2,3 which would make for our four counts in our measure. So now lets work on this with our metronome. If you do not have a metronome you can always go to http://www.metronomeonline.com/. Now lets start out at a nice slow 40 bpms on our metronome. Now each tick on the metronome is going to be the first beat of our triplet.So first before picking up your uke I want you to listen to the metronome at the 40 bpms and count along. The tick with be counted 1, 2, 3, the next tick will be 2, 2, 3, next 3, 2, 3, then 4, 2, 3, and start again. Once you are counting correctly out loud with the metronome you are ready to grab your uke. First look through the score and familiarize yourself with it. It is a bunch of arpeggios so if you look at it like that it will be super helpful. Once you feel comfortable enough. Set the metronome to 40 and start to play along. As you get more comfortable you can turn up the bpms on you metronome until you get to the actual tempo which is at a quasi fast 92 bpms. This is a really fun piece to practice slow or at its fast paced tempo. It sounds beautiful on the ukulele and is just a great piece to get your fingers going and get used to picking and playing with a metronome! Enjoy!

Here are 14 strumming patterns to experiment with! Its easy to fall into the same old strumming pattern (I can be very guilty of this at times) But its great to explore and get used to playing lots of different strumming patterns and also is a great way to work on your counting/playing in time. All of these strumming patterns are in 4/4 so you will notice all have 8 beats mapped out in the strumming pattern, that is because you will be strumming the eighth notes. So you will count 1+2+3+4+ while strumming on the proper beats. There is a key explaining the characters. But if you have any more questions please feel free to message or comment below! Aloha all! Well I am still recovering I have made you all a few written lessons to work on until my voice is well enough to video. So here is a fun one especially for all the Lovecraft fans out there! This is "Hey there Cthuhulu" by Eben Brooks which is a parody of Plain White tees "Hey there delilah" The chords we will be using in this one are all chords we have covered in our prior videos. ****Metronome Lesson #1**** Playing with a metronome is important and helps us to learn to keep time and build up your internal time counting skills. If you do not have a metronome you can go tohttp://www.metronomeonline.com/ and use their free oninle metronome.  For this we are going to use some scales to start, and next week we will start using our picking arpeggios exercises with the metronome. The metronome will keep the beat by making a ticking noise on each quarter count.  Start by practicing your scales, get used to playing them before you start with the metronome it will be easier for you to keep time if you are proficient with playing the scales first.  Now we will go to the metronome and start it at 60, you will not be using your uke yet. (once you go to the metronome site you will see all the numbers in the circle click on 60)  Sit and listen to the ticks for a few bars, count with the ticks, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, etc. Once you are counting the ticks perfectly grab your Ukulele.  Now pull up your scales (files attached to this post) and play your scales along with the metronome playing each note of the scale as 1 count (or one tick) and play along. If 60 is too fast you can slow the metronome down to an easier speed (higher numbers being faster lower numbers being slower the numbers stand for you BPM beats per minute) Practice till you are completely comfortable with the metronome and then you can slowly speed up the BPMs. Once you master the scales with this you will be ready for the next lesson! Please excuse at the beginning Fsus2 is correctly shown on the screen but I explain it incorrectly. Fsus2 is G-open C-1st fret E-open A-3rd fret.
