November's Theme is THREAD
It was chosen by our Derby chapter in the UK, illustrated by Carla Dee, and is presented by our global partner Adobe. Ever pull on a loose thread? Things can unravel quickly. The creative process can feel like that. A nagging thought, an imperfect bit, or a big tangled mess. But maybe that thread is trying to tell you something. Follow it and see where it takes you. It turns out that all the good and bad in your life is forming a beautiful tapestry.

September's Theme is REFLECTION!
It was selected by the Oklahoma City chapter and illustrated by Aditi Heins.
Reflecting on difficult moments can be painful but also healing. When our Oklahoma City chapter selected this theme, they mentioned a reflecting pool at the site of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that was designed to help people reflect on how they were changed by that tragic event.
For more insights, check out the CreativeMornings blog post!

#CreativeMornings are back in town!
After a short break, the first event, themed #CMNative, was just fantastic 💥
Thank you, Lucy Larsson, for your inspiring speech about the journey from your motherland, Samoa, to Sweden. Besides the insightful speech, Lucy transported us to her homeland with a traditional Samoan clothes and dance.
Two things occurred for the first time at the event:
✅ It was the first event hosted by Cláudia Nunes, the latest host of Creative Mornings Gothenburg.
✅ The new collaboration International House Gothenburg received Creative Mornings guests for the first time.
And it’s time to show gratitude to all collaborators now. 🙌
Thank you, Sit&Draw, for releasing us from the hustle and bustle of work and city life even for a while. Thanks to the guidance of Kurt Lightner, founder of Sit&Draw, the collective work painted by the participants turned up a unique artwork.
Finally, International House Gothenburg, thank you for hosting our guests and serving delicious coffee and croissants.
See you at the next event, Creative Morning pals. 🫶

Our theme for February is NATIVE. It was chosen by our Honolulu chapter and illustrated by Jack Soren. “Where you are from shapes who you are. Where you call home influences your worldview. Understanding the traditions of your ancestors can help answer the question, “where do I belong?” Your connections to a place and the past should rightfully be a source of great pride. The unique customs, art, and languages of native cultures make the tapestry of human civilization more vibrant. Yet many indigenous communities have faced marginalization, land dispossession, and cultural erasure. How much have we lost and what can be preserved? By respecting and celebrating the traditions and achievements of native people everywhere, we can discover a deeper sense of connection and unity. What does our history have to teach us? What can we learn from each other?” CreativeMornings You can read about the significance of the imagery in this month’s illustration here. More details coming soon 🧡

Septembers’s theme is Depth
Depth is a space that denies easy ways of seeing or comprehending — when we shine a light into the deep blue of the ocean, we cannot see much further than the surface. In our age of instant answers, we bristle at this resistance. It’s often easier to reduce people, places, and ideas into flattened renderings, rather than grapple with the nuanced and contradictory truths found in their depths.
Our Columbus chapter chose this month’s exploration of Depth and Bryan Christopher Moss illustrated the theme.

Gustav Martner is our next speaker
We are happy to be back with our friends at the Amoeba office after a well deserved summer break. Our next event is a special one where Gustav Martner from Greenpeace will be sharing his story with us.
Gustav is the creative who went from being a Golden Lion winner at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity to getting banned from the same festival. And this in the most amazingly creative of ways. At our next CreativeMornings event on August 26, we'll hear more about how Gustav and the rest of the Greenpeace team completely hijacked the coverage of this year's Cannes Lions by trashing the pompous opening, launching a landing using an army of boats with banners that caused fossil companies to cancel their beach parties in panic and much, much more – all to make the industry realize it's time to ban fossil ads. Now! This year, when someone talked about Cannes Lions, nobody did it without mentioning Greenpeace. And in the middle of all this was Gustav in his role as Head of Creative at Greenpeace and activist. The tickets (free but strictly limited in number) are out now!
Date: Friday, August 26 Time: 07:30 - 09:00 (talk from 08:25) Location: Amoeba Office, Tredje Långgatan 13B, 413 03 Gothenburg

August’s theme is Critical
August’s theme is Critical, chosen by Creative Mornings Calgary, illustrated by Maedeh Mosaverzadeh, and presented by MailChimp.
To be critical means to be like a sieve, dividing and separating. Our critical abilities allows us to discern the insubstantial from the made-to-last, the credible from the untrustworthy, the sincere from the ego-driven.
Critical feedback is essential for our growth. But being needlessly critical — especially of ourselves — can stifle the creative impulse. How can we hone our perception, spotting what needs to evolve, without becoming ruthless? How can we remain astute while not losing sight of all that is inherently good and whole? It’s critical. #CMCritical #Creativemornings

Say hello to May‘s speaker Hanna Linduist
The theme this month is ‘Commitment’ and on May 25th we’re really pleased to invite Hanna Lindquist who strives towards creating a world where all people have access to clean energy, to the stage.
Linda Larsson caught up with Hanna to ask her a few questions ahead of her talk.
A quick bio of yourself - who are you and what do you do. My name's Hanna and I'm from Gothenburg. I've always been very passionate about global issues. Due to this I've worked many years in the civil society and politics before I ended up at TRINE 2015. My years working with other change agents taught me that in a world where it is so easy to not care and not get engaged we all need to do just that. Because now we need it more than ever.
I joined TRINE when we were about to launch our very first loan in October 2015. Since then I've focused on building our brand, finding ways to communicate to people what you can do through our platform and really talked with our users and crowd-investors a lot. For me that's key, no matter if you work for a tech startup or a governmental organisation: Understand and get to know your target group.
The theme this month is 'commitment'. What does 'commitment' mean to you? For me commitment is very much about also the things we don't obviously think about as a commitment. We might think we've made a commitment when we signed up for a course or promised a friend to help him/her move but everyday we make commitments that we might not even think about. And some of those are the important ones because they might be the ones that break bad habits. For me one of the strongest commitments we currently have is our money, because depending on how you choose to save, invest, consume them you will also decide on what kind of world you want.
What can anyone do to become a solar hero?
If you want to use your money as a voting power I definitely think one way of doing that is to invest with a triple return. What does that mean? It means that instead of choosing between doing good and earning money you can get both. By investing with triple return you get social and environmental impact while at the same time having the possibility of return of investment. For me it's obvious that if we all can make sustainability the new normal we never have to choose between "investments" and "sustainable investments". It will all be about people, planet, profit. If you're interested to see how it works you can check on www.jointrine.com and perhaps join some of the thousands of people who's currently invested everything from €25 and more into solar energy in emerging markets.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given? Best piece of advice is a tricky one. I constantly get inspired but not necessarily by what people say by what they do. My colleagues are a brilliant example of some of the most inspiring people I've met. They are all hard-working, high-achieving but at the same time goofy, without any prestige or need to prove themselves. But if I have to choose one I must say that fail fast, learn faster is one of the best ones because I never really had that mindset before. I was so used to making sure everything was 100% success so there was never any space for failure. And that's a great piece of advice I think we all encourage at TRINE - celebrate failures as well as successes!
What super power would you like to have and why?
I think time travelling would be pretty neat. Or just the possibility to travel between places in no time would be amazing. If I could spend the rest of my life doing something it would be to discover the world. Despite what you sometimes might think when you follow the newsfeed the world is still such a beautiful place and there would be a shame to not have seen it all if you had the possibility. Discovering the world and show another side than what is sometimes broadcasted would definitely be on my top list of dream projects. Home for me has always been where I am at the moment, not a specific geographical place.
If you could select one person from history and have them truthfully answer one question, who would you select and what is the question? I'd ask George W. Bush - if you knew what you now know about what would happen after, would you still have started the war in Iraq and Afghanistan?
